  12. I love jewellery, and always wear several rings, earrings, a bangle and a necklace. I get given quite a bit of ethnic jewellery by my Indian in-laws, as one of their customs is to give small pieces of jewellery (usually earrings) when you attend a relative’s wedding. I like to buy vintage jewellery and I’ve bought a couple of really nice rings in pawn shops. I look for pieces made of 18ct gold, with nice stones. My best buy was a sapphire and diamond ring that I bought for £150, which I later had valued at over £1,000! It seems that both the owner of the ring and the pawnbroker had not realised the stones were real diamonds.
