Introducing the Velvet Leaf Essential Hydrating Serum
One of the stand out products within the SUS Wellbeing range is the Velvet Leaf Essential Hydrating Serum.
Designed to hydrate, soothe and support the skin, Velvet Leaf combines a variety of botanical extracts with well-known skincare ingredients. The formula contains 96% naturally derived ingredients and is free from microplastics.
Among its ingredients are niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, bakuchiol, aloe vera, green tea, quince, willow bark and plantain extracts. These have been brought together to create a formula which has been made to support hydration while helping skin look smoother, plumper and more even.
Velvet Leaf also contains snail secretion filtrate, often known as snail mucin. This is an ingredient that has become increasingly popular thanks to Korean-inspired skincare and is included in the serum for its hydrating and skin-supporting properties. However, be aware this is an animal-derived ingredient, however it can be harvested without harming a snail as it is made from the trail they leave behind them.
When it comes to the packaging, the serum comes in a glass container with a wooden lid and a biodegradable paper label. SUS encourages customers to reuse the jars where possible or contact the brand about returning empty packaging, supporting its aim of moving towards a more circular approach. SUS Wellbeing hosts regular wellness events in London, where they happily receive back empty jars to give them a second life.
Adding Velvet Leaf to a Skincare Routine
SUS recommends applying Velvet Leaf in the morning and evening after cleansing and if you use a toner or facial mist, this can be applied first before gently massaging the serum over the face and around the eye area.
It can then be followed with a moisturiser or SPF day cream, depending on the time of day.
While skincare will always be individual, Velvet Leaf could be an interesting option for those looking to explore botanical skincare or add more hydration to their routine.
