Hobby Idea to Take You Out of Your Comfort Zone
If you are entering this spring wondering what hobbies you could take up this year, then I have some ideas which might just give you something to think on.
After all, sometimes we need a little bit of a nudge to try something different and out of our comfort zone.

Learn to Ride a Horse.
I have some fun memories from the odd horse ride I took when I was younger.
I can openly admit I was never that good, I often found the horse I was on was more interested in eating than going for a bit of a treck.
But it didn’t stop me having a good time.
What’s more, you don’t need to break the bank when it comes to trying this one out, as you can now find reduced items at an equestrian clearance. You could be kitted out in new gear and riding off into the sunset before you know it.
Start Doing Crosswords
Sometimes, it’s worth going for hobbies that challenge you mentally, and crosswords can be great for that. When you’re doing a crossword, you’re forced to focus on figuring it all out and doing it properly. It can take you out of your comfort zone because of that, but it’ll be more relaxing than you’d think.

Take Up Crafting.
Crafting covers such a wide range of activities.
From needlework to drawing and jewellery making to working with metals or even card making.
All you need is a little bit of imagination (or google) and the knowledge on how to get started.
So why not start checking out how you could start up crafting this year.
Volunteering.
A great way to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people can be volunteering.
There are so many different ways you can donate your time these days, from working in charity shops to working with local organisations such as the wildlife trust or location rescues.
Volunteering can even help widen your CV or get you a foot in the door towards a new job.

Start a Blog.
You might be wondering how a blog can help you step out your comfort zone, well the answer is in so many ways.
From being invited to PR events, as many bloggers are.
To taking the steps to write and share very personal posts, something which has very definitely had me light years away from my own comfort zone.

Face Your Fear.
Ok, this one is completely dependant on your fear, as you need to make sure you do it in a safe environment and controlled way.
However, for instance, if you are afraid of heights you could climb a mountain, or go sky diving. If water is your fear, then perhaps learning to swim, with an instructor who knows how to deal with such issues could be for you.
For me, perhaps I need to go and stand outside with a lamp on my head, as my fear of moths is getting way out of hand.
Are you taking on a new hobby this year? Does it see you step out of your comfort zone?

I am thinking of taking tailoring classes and yes, this is a step out of my comfort zone.
I have always found having a hobby helps me, gives me a times when i can just do my thing and escape all whats happening around me
Great ideas, starting a blog is something i have always wanted to do, but im not very tech savvy, i have read on other blogs how to start, but its all above me im afraid, but i do love to craft, find it, it helps with my health, to relax
You should go for it – try using blogger to start out on, it’s free so if things go wrong you’ve not lost anything and it’s really simple to use.
Horse riding is a definite no from me as horses hate me! My mum has just retired & would like to start a blog next year with my input so that maybe happening & I have also thought about possibly volunteering at a dog’s shelter when I feel like I can do so without crying every 5 minutes.
I hope you manage to get a blog up and going I think you would be amazing at it. Volunteering at the dogs shelter would be incredible I think I would want to take them all home though!
I love these suggestions. I don’t think I’ve properly considered trying a hobby I’m totally unfamiliar with, but it would be a great exercise, and you never know where it might take you.
Exactly you may find you come across something you really adore doing!
I constantly have to push myself out of my comfort zone, I have really bad anxiety and it is so hard as I feel judged all the time and avoid social situations. I know I will always hate these situations but I have to force myself to do it. I craft a lot and have my own page on Facebook where I sometimes share what I have made – this is massive for me as I am so self critical! I’ve not shared on there for a while but I will get back to it.
Craft groups are a great way to push yourself as it means getting out there and doing something new.
I also did some volunteering at my daughters school, I am a trained TA so they really appreciated my help and it gave me some satisfaction too, i’ve not been in a while because my mental health has deteriorated but hopefully I i will get back to it.
In the future I would love to set up a blog, that would certainly push boundaries but it is a bit of a dream.
