Spend a Relaxing Summer in Your Garden
There is something about having an outdoor space to relax and unwind in.
I’ve really enjoyed being in the bungalow as having a garden has taken on a new meaning. Of course, we had a garden area in our old flat, but it was overlooked by the people who lived above, so never felt like a place we could just sit and relax in.
I’ve never really had green fingers, though I used to be able to fell a tree or two before the pain got too much.
So I am lucky we have some help with keeping the flower beds looking nice and the lawn mown.

Tips To Relax in Your Garden.
Honestly, the best way to relax in your garden is different for everyone.
Are you someone who likes to throw a BBQ? Or perhaps curling up with a good book is more your style. Perhaps it is even watching your animals or children play which brings you delight.
Here are some of my design tips for transforming your garden space. Read on for my relaxing garden ideas.

Comfortable Seating.
While once upon a time curling up on a rug would do me, these days I am more for some comfortable seating.
From hammocks to garden benches and hanging chairs to swings and even sun loungers, there is so much choice when it comes to seating areas.
We all have a different way to feel comfortable, the great thing, of course, is the choice of garden furniture is yours.
There are so many different designs out there these days that you can even get yourself Hammocks with Stands, if like me your garden lacks the trees to actually hang one from.
If you are throwing a BBQ, you’ll also need to think about a table and chairs for your dining area. Hanging wind chimes can create some lovely relaxing sounds while you’re sitting in the garden.

Perfect Plants.
One thing which can make your garden feel like it is the perfect place to sit and relax can be the plants.
If you have a cottage garden you might like to add beautiful flower beds or veggies to help you become a little more self-sufficient. It might even be that for you astroturf and paving helps your garden be at its best. Adding plant pots to your patio or decking is a good choice for a calming atmosphere.
Choose plants that you like the look of and which make you happy.
There are ways and means to make your garden work for you.

Invite in the Wildlife.
One thing I love doing is seeing the wildlife coming and visiting the garden.
There is something wonderful about being able to watch birds and other creatures come and go from your outdoor living space.
These days there are all manner of different items you can get to invite wildlife into your garden. From things like bird feeders to hedgehog hideaways and ladybird houses.
Just think about what you would like to invite into your garden and then buy or make the items needed. This goes a long way in creating a relaxed outdoor area.
Add a water feature.
There’s just something about running water that sounds so relaxing. Water is one of the three essential elements of Japanese gardens and it represents life-giving force.
If you have space in your garden, add a pond to attract more wildlife or a fountain so you can sit back and enjoy the trickling sounds. A water feature can also make a great focal point for your garden.
No matter how you decide to relax and unwind in your garden this year. Just enjoy it and hopefully, we will have a good summer ahead of us.
What is your favourite way to relax and unwind in your garden?

I do find it very relaxing to spend time in the common garden of the condo where we live. It is very well maintained and there are flowers all year round in our forever summer climate!
I do love my garden, its so peaceful and i enjoy just sitting in it

I love to spend time in my garden, it is a great way to relax and does wonders for your mental and physical wellbeing.
Our garden is over grown and full of nettles at the moment as we moved in at the end of last summer, I’ve started to cut it back and lay patio slabs, My partner has started growing tomato plants so I’ve bought him a plastic greenhouse to protect them from the weather and bugs, and our girls have a slide and seesaw out there to play on, I don’t want to spend to much on it though as we have to move again as our house is a maisonette with two sets of stairs which are no good for my other half xx
Such a great post for spring! I love being outside and am working on my backyard and garden.I took out a few trees that were crazy out-of-control and am replacing it with a small garden of flowers and palm trees. I can’t wait to drink wine out there this summer!
Good luck with all those garden changes! I hope you have a lovely summer it.
Those sound like great ways to spend time relaxing in your garden during the summer. I know my daughter would think the Tardis birdfeeder would be so cool. I’m hoping to be growing something out in the garden with my daughter this summer.
It is awesome isn’t it – the birds seem to really like it as well.
I want to move just so I can have a nice back yard to sit in. I dream of a hammock.

I hope you manage to give your garden a good overhaul sometime soon.
The whole world is giving tips on how to be successful and how to be productive. Very few actually talk about tips on relaxation. Things we take for granted the most are what matters the most.
Most definitely I think relaxing is needed to be successful as you need to look after yourself.
This is pretty nice way to relax and save money. I guess we don’t have to go that far to relax. This is a great idea.
You really don’t our gardens can be amazing places.

Owning a garden is a dream of mine. For now, my potted plants will do. Definitely refreshing seeing life grow in my living room.
I hope one day you get to have the garden of your dreams.
I’m a city girl so usually gardening isn’t my thing. However ever since I started getting older I love the peace I get being outdoors and taking in nature.
There is something really comforting about it at times isn’t there.
Oh wow I love the police box bird feed, very cool. Enjoying time in the garden is a must in the summer and comfortable seating is crucial xx
It’s fab isn’t it – I can see it from my living room window and watch the birds come and visit it.

It would be amazing wouldn’t it! One day hey!
I love having a garden too, it’s so nice to relax, do some gardening, grow your own vegetables. I did the mistake of inviting birds into my previous garden though. My vegetable garden became their fast food place, so I stopped feeding the birds when I moved to a new house.
It is lovely isn’t it – my neighbour grows veggies and he has an issue with the wildlife getting them too!
We are in the process of buying a house which has a garden soi am hoping we will be in by the summer so we can have a bbq at last. A good comfortable seat and a little bit of shade is my kind of garden.
That is so exciting! Good luck with buying your own home that is amazing!

We are absolutely redoing our garden this year and I am so excited! We are looking forward to working hard on it so we can fully enjoy our backyard.
Oh how exciting enjoy doing your garden over this year! Exciting!
I don’t really have a garden of my own to take care of but these tips are great for those who have. I do have a huge park and a beach within 5 minutes walk from here and that’s where my summer will be spent.
Now that is lovely I would love to live near a beach one day.
Having your own garden is a dream! One day, one day.
You will have one, one day!
Love this post. I am relaxing in the garden ever chance I get. Our weather isn’t very accomodating right now, though.
Ours is so up and down at the moment, one minute it is mild the next it is cold again.
I don’t have a garden and wish that I did. My HOA is so sickening when it comes to things in our backyard but I am going to try to set up some type of oasis out there this summer
Good luck with getting something set up that you really love.
We have a pretty large yard. I used to have a nice flower bed, but I haven’t worked on it in a few years. Last summer we put in a small pond and I love watching the frogs and goldfish. I’m hoping that we build a new back porch this spring and summer so I can enjoy the yard from the safety behind the screens. We have a big problem with mosquitos.
I bet it is lovely having a little pond in the garden, its something I would like to have “one day”.
I love relaxing in my garden. I can’t wait to get started with it this year. It’s so nice to enjoy a cup of coffee in my garden.
It’s a nice way to start off the day sometimes isn’t it.
Spending time outdoors is my favorite things to do. We spend all afternoon in our backyard during the warmer months. We need to do a spring clean-up first though.
I don’t have a garden. However I can see how relaxing it one can be totally wonderful!
They are very nice to have but I can also see the upside to not having one with the work lol.
We add a little something to our outdoor space each year and it is really growing into a spot where we spend more and more time. Our most recent purchases was a projector. I can’t wait for backyard movie night.
Oh wow that is amazing! What a lovely way to relax in your garden.
This is such an amazing article! It can be so hard to forget the beauty we live in – starting with our very own home and garden!
Most definitely our gardens can be such beautiful places to sit and relax.
This inspirational post is very timely! My husband and I have been talking about creating beautiful spaces within our yard for relaxing. Comfortable seating and flower plants are important for implementing a comfortable place for outside living and great conversation.
Oh wow I hope you have a lovely time creating your own outdoor space.
I LOVE having our own garden after renting abroad for so long. I am trying to grow stuff and it’s nice for the Toddler to help me too (although he does dig a lot back up again!). Looking forward to the better weather when it really seems like an extra room! 🙂

It really can can’t it – you just need to sort it for youself.
I have several different gardens and enjoy hanging out in all of them. Seating and tables are helpful
Oh I bet that is amazing getting to see them all grow differently.
Oh man, I wish I could grow stuff. Our yard is scary at the moment. Maybe I’ll try to work on it again. But normally things die.
Aww good luck on working on it – I have to admit I often kill things as well.
I love the tips for inviting the wildlife in. I need to get a birdhouse for my yard.
It is great getting to sit and watch the birds come and go isn’t it.
I love relaxing in my garden – that reminds me that I need to get my garden summer ready.
It is going to happen this year for sure! Haha
It is very important to be outdoors in nature, weather permitting. I wish we could be outdoors more in our yard, but we have a serious mosquito issue!
Oh no! I don’t do well when bitten by mosquitos so can certainly see why that would cause chaos!
I really need to work on getting my garden ready for the spring and summer! I have been wanting to do some updates to the back yard to make it more welcoming and fun to relax and entertain in.
It can become such an extension of the home can’t it.
On a nice, warm day, there is nothing better than relaxing in a hammock, or taking a nap in one! I look forward to the weather getting better. I miss my hammock!
I am so with you on that, I would love to have a garden hammock!
I hosted my first BBQ of the season this past week. I scrubbed all the outdoor furniture and it was so much fun and relaxing to spend an evening outdoors.
I hope it went well! Hopefully, the weather here will be BBQ ready soon!

Ekk good luck with getting everything sorted in your garden this year.
I keep telling my husband that we need to hire a landscaper LOL. Our backyard needs so much help that I am pretty sure I could do it for years and still not make it as nice as what a landscaper could probably do in an hour LOL.
I have to admit I would love to have someone come in and make my garden look amazing!
My garden is a bit of a mess at the moment, I am not naturally green-thumbed, but I’d love to spend time out there in the Summer once we have it cleared up and neat again!
I am the same, mine looks a bit all over the place as well, but you know it’s a nice outdoor space.
I really want to spend more time in my garden this summer (if the weather allows it!) Sometimes it’s nice to just chill outside with a good book, and I love throwing BBQs for my friends.
Hopefully, the weather will be nice to us this summer!
