Hobby Idea to Take You Out of Your Comfort Zone
If you are entering this spring wondering what hobbies you could take up this year, then I have some ideas which might just give you something to think on.
After all, sometimes we need a little bit of a nudge to try something different and out of our comfort zone.

Learn to Ride a Horse.
I have some fun memories from the odd horse ride I took when I was younger.
I can openly admit I was never that good, I often found the horse I was on was more interested in eating than going for a bit of a treck.
But it didn’t stop me having a good time.
What’s more, you don’t need to break the bank when it comes to trying this one out, as you can now find reduced items at an equestrian clearance. You could be kitted out in new gear and riding off into the sunset before you know it.
Start Doing Crosswords
Sometimes, it’s worth going for hobbies that challenge you mentally, and crosswords can be great for that. When you’re doing a crossword, you’re forced to focus on figuring it all out and doing it properly. It can take you out of your comfort zone because of that, but it’ll be more relaxing than you’d think.

Take Up Crafting.
Crafting covers such a wide range of activities.
From needlework to drawing and jewellery making to working with metals or even card making.
All you need is a little bit of imagination (or google) and the knowledge on how to get started.
So why not start checking out how you could start up crafting this year.
Volunteering.
A great way to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people can be volunteering.
There are so many different ways you can donate your time these days, from working in charity shops to working with local organisations such as the wildlife trust or location rescues.
Volunteering can even help widen your CV or get you a foot in the door towards a new job.

Start a Blog.
You might be wondering how a blog can help you step out your comfort zone, well the answer is in so many ways.
From being invited to PR events, as many bloggers are.
To taking the steps to write and share very personal posts, something which has very definitely had me light years away from my own comfort zone.

Face Your Fear.
Ok, this one is completely dependant on your fear, as you need to make sure you do it in a safe environment and controlled way.
However, for instance, if you are afraid of heights you could climb a mountain, or go sky diving. If water is your fear, then perhaps learning to swim, with an instructor who knows how to deal with such issues could be for you.
For me, perhaps I need to go and stand outside with a lamp on my head, as my fear of moths is getting way out of hand.
Are you taking on a new hobby this year? Does it see you step out of your comfort zone?

id like to take up crafting this year
I hope you manage to take up some crafting this year.
I would love to take up a new hobby. I do crafting projects once in a while but not often as time isn’t on my side. I also blog when I can around the children 🙂
It is fun to craft isn’t it – quite relaxing to be honest.
I love all of these ideas! I’d like to start crafts and volunteering!
Good luck with taking up some hobbies you would really enjoy.
My hobby is doing a blog especially when I’m on a day off. I do a blog to express my feelings and make inspire people. great post!
Blogging can be an amazing hobby and really help people express themselves.
I would love to volunteer at some point because there are so many amazing causes that need extra support 🙂
Volunteering can be so rewarding, it is such a lovely thing to do.
This is a good list! I would love to volunteer more!!
It is such a rewarding thing to be able to do.
I’m in love with your hobby list because I love crafting, I started a blog and I am facing my fears with each post and attempting to add video as well. One fear I am not ready to face is riding a horse 🙂 I may give it a go in the future sometime.
Ekk well done! Hey you never know what the future may hold for you.
When I was 18, I went skydiving. It was fun, but not something that I needed to do again. As a blogger, I’ve gone out of my comfort zone a couple of times. The first big one was when I went on a trip to an animal sanctuary as an ambassador and then later when I attended a blogging conference. Both times I was nervous to go, but I am happy that I did it.
It is amazing how you can step out of your comfort zone just being a blogger isn’t it.
i find volunteering really great! it allows one to network and at the same time help! as an immigrant, volunteering really helped me to settle down and find my niche in a new country!
It is amazing the connections you can make and the ways it can help you just volunteering isn’t it.
This is so good! I need to go horse riding again, it’s the best to clear up the mind! Volunteering is a wonderful way to get out of our comfort zone. And it brings us even more than we give!
I hope you get to go horse riding again soon!
Right now I think of blogging as my hobby. I make some money but not enough to feed a family or anything. One day that will change.
Good luck! It is definitely do-able but it’s a slog to get there! Your blog is amazing though so I am sure you will.
It’s a great idea to take up something new that is out of the ordinary, or like you say, out of one’s comfort zone. Something like horseback riding sounds like fun.
Most definitely sometimes it is nice to take that step isn’t it and I think we often really enjoy it once we do.
Taking out of your comfort zone is very important and we shouldn’t forget about that! I’d like to take up horse riding! 🙂
Most definitely we can all really enjoy it often as well. Good luck with doing some riding.
I turned my blogging and writing hobby into a job, and I LOVE it! It’s basically my dream job! I guess I should learn how to ride a horse next!
It is amazing that people can do that now isn’t it! I love that I can work from home.
These are definitely things I don’t normally consider when using my free time. I’m liking the idea of trying something new and out of the ordinary.
Most definitely, always worth trying something just a bit different.
yes yes yes i def am doing that this year and getting out my comfort zone by signing up to do a 5k ha. im not athletic but its helping me so much!
Oh my goodness good luck! I really hope it goes well for you.
I do need to step out of my comfort zone. I want to volunteer at the hospital holding babies.
That would be such an amazing thing to do! I don’t know if you can do that over here, but it would be lovely.
I try to step out of my comfort zone every once in a while. I don’t do it daily, but sometimes I’ll try something new. I would like to volunteer more.
It’s definitely something I couldn’t do every day I wouldn’t have the energy but once in a while, I try to.
I would love to learn how to ride a horse. It’s been on my bucket list for a couple of years now.
It is definitely something amazing to be able to do.
I was looking for either “Go skydiving” with a picture of you jumping out 15,000 ft or “own a cheetah” and talking about Paladin and myself.
I totally should have said own a cheetah and tbh if I wasn’t so unwell I would love to have gone skydiving once upon a time.
I am an avid crafter and volunteer as the booking secretary for our village hall (although this sometimes is pretty stressful!) I think picking up new hobbies is a great way to keep the body and brain active.
It is great isn’t it – I miss being able to do a lot of my old hobbies, I used to love crafting.
I do a lot of these hobbies already but I could definitely do that more often. One I miss the most is horseback riding.
That is so cool you have such a great hobby round up then!
I volunteer by fostering dogs! It’s a great way to meet new people AND new animals!
OK now that is an amazing way to volunteer, thank you for looking after the in need pups!
I do love horseback riding but sadly I have a severe horse allergy 🙁
Oh no that is the worst 🙁 that would be like my nightmare to be allergic to animals.
My hobby of starting a blog has become more of a full time job but that is okay I still have plenty of other hobbies to enjoy. Fun to try new things.
Haha I am in the same situation there – it’s worth it though in so many ways.
