Birchall Tea – Review
PR Sample – I was sent a range of teas from Birchall Tea to help with this post.
It is a bit of a running joke about how I run on tea. No one needs to ask me if I would like a cup, just give me one and I’ll drink it. There is something so warm and comforting about a cuppa.
So when Birchall Tea got in touch and asked if I would like to try out some of their range, I had to give it a go.
Who is Birchall Tea?

Birchall Tea is a five generation-long family business which goes back to 1872, meaning it is celebrating its 150th birthday this year.
They work closely with expert growers and work with them to make sure their workers are all treated in an ethically responsible way.
Today the company is based in London, they have a huge interest in tea across the globe. They are even the largest exporter of black teas from East Africa in the world.
What’s more, the teas are award-winning, with a number of their teas having won great taste awards.
You might be wondering how a company with such great history and credentials is a company you perhaps haven’t heard of? Well, the answer is quite simple.
Until the pandemic hit, Birchall Tea sold directly to the hospitality industry. Meaning they were found in hotels and restaurants. In fact, it is quite likely you have had a cup of their tea when out. I noticed after being sent this bundle The Red Carpet at Barton Marina served Birchall Tea.
Of course, with the pandemic closing down the whole hospitality industry for a long time, Birchall Tea needed to change its approach. It was during this time they started to sell directly to consumers.
What Makes Birchall Tea Stand Out?

Birchall Tea is dedicated to making the best tea, both in the way it is produced by looking after the environment and its workers, and when it comes to taste. This is something you can tell when you drink it.
Perhaps one way which means they stand out from other brands in the huge array of ways to enjoy their tea. For instance, the Great Rift range, which is their breakfast tea, comes in loose-leaf, enveloped tea bags and plant-based prism tea bags.
They also have a huge array of flavours that can be used in a range of ways. Covering green teas, fruit and herbal infusions alongside English breakfast tea and decaffeinated. If you want to step out of your comfort zone with tea, they offer ideas for mocktails, cocktails and chai lattes to name a few.
Personally, I have and will always be a breakfast tea person, white with no sugar to be precise. So I decided to dive in by trying a decaffeinated Great Riff, having already tried the caffeinated version before.
Choosing the loose leaf version, it was simple to make. I popped a teaspoon into the glass teapot and let it brew for around 2 minutes.
For anyone who has drunk decaffeinated tea, you might be well aware it can be hit and miss. In some brands you can hardly taste the difference, others taste awful. When it comes to Birchall Tea, I think I have to class them as one of the best offering a rich yet smooth tea flavour. Meaning I was really impressed by their offering.
Final Thoughts

No matter if you are looking for a tea company for a special occasion or everyday Birchall Tea fits the bill. You can easily buy any of their flavours or accessories from their brand website. I’ve also noticed a selection can be ordered from Ocado and other websites as well.
If you are a tea lover, no matter the type, checking out Birchall Tea is a brilliant idea. You might just find yourself as impressed by the taste as I am.
I can’t wait to spend some time trying more options.

My wife is much more of tea drinker than I am but I am sure she would love to try the Great Rift Breakfast Blend. I am wondering what makes a tea a breakfast tea and why it’s not an afternoon tea.
I’d most like to try the Lemongrass and ginger as it sounds really healthy and refreshing!
It would be great to find a decent normal decaf tea, as all the one’s I’ve tried so far are awful. I’ll give them a go.
I would like to try the Lemongrass and ginger as it sound like it might have a bit of a kick to it! I would drink it with my mum before gardening!
Call me boring … but I just like Great Rift Decaff Everyday plant based teabags. I do not drink caffeine anymore, so all the family now drink decaff everyday tea.

I am a breakfast tea person too, but always willing to try something new. I would like to try the decaf version which you seemed to like. Always share a cup of tea in the morning with my husband
I love English Breakfast tea and would share a pot with my husband Steve
You’re like me, milk no sugar. Hand me over an English Breakfast tea and I’ll drink it too. I do want to try the decaf version as most decaf teas I try are not as fragrant. I tend to drink decaf English breakfast tea at night so winning this would be amazing.
I would love to try the decaf tea. Like you said it can really be hit or miss and I’ve never seemed to find a decaf tea that’s been nice!
