LastPass – Helping to Keep Your Passwords Safe

I remember the days when I used the same password across multiple websites. Especially as my brain fog got worse and I found myself struggling to remember logins.
Of course, this isn’t a good idea, it means that just one data breach leads to someone having access to a number of your logins. It is also something we are becoming more aware of, both via websites asking for more secure password combinations and browsers giving warnings when a password may be compromised.
To overcome this I’ve personally used LastPass for a number of years now.
What is LastPass?
LastPass offers a password management service, which is accessible from both mobile and computer. It offers a one-click login service and even helps you create secure passwords when signing up for new websites.
However that isn’t everything, they also offer dark-web monitoring, the ability to store digital records and auto-fill for online shopping. You can even safely share passwords if you need others to access your accounts. For instance, if you are a blogger utilising a VA, you can easily share passwords with them. You can even choose if the recipient can see the password or not and later revoke sharing when needed.
LastPass is, of course, an encrypted service and at the base level is free to users.
Why Do I Use LastPass?
I originally signed up to LastPass when I was using a VA to help with some blog work. It meant I was able to share my password directly with them, without them ever knowing exactly what that password was.
However, it quickly became apparent that it was so useful for storing all my passwords, as well as helping me create secure ones when needed.
I use LastPass both on my laptop and mobile. As such I have a premium subscription which comes in at £2.60 per month. You can also sign up as a family plan for £3.40 per month which offers up to 6 individual encrypted vaults.
Your passwords and digital record are all encrypted inside your personal vault, which is accessible via password (this one you will have to remember). I really should look more into the digital record side, as I am sure it would be useful to have some of my records backed up there.
Overall Thoughts
LastPass is something I’m not sure how I would manage without anymore. From helping me make sure the passwords I use are secure, meaning I don’t need to remember my unique passwords.

It is hard isn’t it – the fact they have to be nonsense as well to be safe just makes it harder.

It is so hard to remember them all isn’t it – I could never.
It looks really useful. At the moment I have a book where I write a clue that only I would understand, that hopefully would remind me of my password. The problem is that if I have not had to log in for a while I have not idea what the clue means. This password manager looks so much better!

A really great idea, I sometimes forget what I put for the password whether its a capital or a lower case etc, this will be useful
It is so hard to keep on top of them at times, isn’t it? I struggle to remember anything these days let alone passwords.
I love that you can share passwords with people without telling them what they are. I keep on top of my passwords and regularly change them, but my sister uses my log in for some sites and I hate sending her the password in a text, I’m always worried that somehow it will end up leaked/lost, this is such a great idea!
Same, I used to hate having to share it with my VA when I had one, I just never felt safe doing it over email, LastPass definitely helped me feel safer sharing such items.
I use the Google secure password system but I like the sound of dark Web monitoring and the secure vault
I have the google secure password system running as well I think? I like LastPass as it is so easy to move between computers.
Sounds good especially with different sites wanting different characters, numbers and cases
It can be so hard to keep up can’t it – the fact they will put together secure passwords for you is one of my favourite parts.

Using a password manger is great advice and a great idea – until someone cracks the password on the password manger then they have access to everything. I can remember some passwords so I keep those memory slots for a few very important sites such as bank and payment sites, and use a password manager for the many many other sites where a lesser security is OK, Dark web scanners that pick up when your info is compromised are helpful but can lead to the laborious task of changing hundreds of passwords on sites on which it isn’t the end of the world if a password is known by others.
I use RoboForm which is essentially the same sort of thing. I used to store my passwords in my Google account… that is until I got hacked. I have certainly learned a big lesson there.

Oh no! I used to use RoboForm gosh I had forgotten about that, moved over to LastPass from it so long ago.
