Birchall Tea – Review
PR Sample – I was sent a range of teas from Birchall Tea to help with this post.
It is a bit of a running joke about how I run on tea. No one needs to ask me if I would like a cup, just give me one and I’ll drink it. There is something so warm and comforting about a cuppa.
So when Birchall Tea got in touch and asked if I would like to try out some of their range, I had to give it a go.
Who is Birchall Tea?

Birchall Tea is a five generation-long family business which goes back to 1872, meaning it is celebrating its 150th birthday this year.
They work closely with expert growers and work with them to make sure their workers are all treated in an ethically responsible way.
Today the company is based in London, they have a huge interest in tea across the globe. They are even the largest exporter of black teas from East Africa in the world.
What’s more, the teas are award-winning, with a number of their teas having won great taste awards.
You might be wondering how a company with such great history and credentials is a company you perhaps haven’t heard of? Well, the answer is quite simple.
Until the pandemic hit, Birchall Tea sold directly to the hospitality industry. Meaning they were found in hotels and restaurants. In fact, it is quite likely you have had a cup of their tea when out. I noticed after being sent this bundle The Red Carpet at Barton Marina served Birchall Tea.
Of course, with the pandemic closing down the whole hospitality industry for a long time, Birchall Tea needed to change its approach. It was during this time they started to sell directly to consumers.
What Makes Birchall Tea Stand Out?

Birchall Tea is dedicated to making the best tea, both in the way it is produced by looking after the environment and its workers, and when it comes to taste. This is something you can tell when you drink it.
Perhaps one way which means they stand out from other brands in the huge array of ways to enjoy their tea. For instance, the Great Rift range, which is their breakfast tea, comes in loose-leaf, enveloped tea bags and plant-based prism tea bags.
They also have a huge array of flavours that can be used in a range of ways. Covering green teas, fruit and herbal infusions alongside English breakfast tea and decaffeinated. If you want to step out of your comfort zone with tea, they offer ideas for mocktails, cocktails and chai lattes to name a few.
Personally, I have and will always be a breakfast tea person, white with no sugar to be precise. So I decided to dive in by trying a decaffeinated Great Riff, having already tried the caffeinated version before.
Choosing the loose leaf version, it was simple to make. I popped a teaspoon into the glass teapot and let it brew for around 2 minutes.
For anyone who has drunk decaffeinated tea, you might be well aware it can be hit and miss. In some brands you can hardly taste the difference, others taste awful. When it comes to Birchall Tea, I think I have to class them as one of the best offering a rich yet smooth tea flavour. Meaning I was really impressed by their offering.
Final Thoughts

No matter if you are looking for a tea company for a special occasion or everyday Birchall Tea fits the bill. You can easily buy any of their flavours or accessories from their brand website. I’ve also noticed a selection can be ordered from Ocado and other websites as well.
If you are a tea lover, no matter the type, checking out Birchall Tea is a brilliant idea. You might just find yourself as impressed by the taste as I am.
I can’t wait to spend some time trying more options.
