Aqua Citra Perfume: Review
Let’s for a moment travel back to the sixties or seventies. One of the best loved women fragrances is Aqua Citra. The perfume brings about that feeling of freedom, fun and carefree moments. The years go by and, as with many things, the Aqua Citra fragrance is discontinued.
As with many items though, someone remembers it, someone loves it and as such someone brings it back for us to enjoy again. The “new” Aqua Citra perfume has been completely recreated by a team at the original suppliers. It has even been given the thumbs up by the original creator of Aqua Citra, Christopher Collins. So you can be safe in the knowledge this is a top of the range recreation and not a cheap imitation.
What does Aqua Citra smell like?
As you might expect for a fragrance with this name, the top notes are a wonderful mix of lemon and lime which are complemented by a spicy base and green floral heart. Surprisingly, once the sweet citrus start has died away you are left with a musky, woody fragrance.
I have to admit that while I expected this to be a citrus fragrance, I wasn’t sure if would be overpoweringly lemon in scent. I also wasn’t sure whether the fact that it was a recreation of an old scent would be obvious. It might remind you of something your grandma might have worn. So it was with trepidation that I gave that first spray. What I didn’t expect, however, was how much I would love it.
The initial burst of fragrance reminds me of something, something I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s perhaps a mix between lemon bonbons and an uplifting body scrub that was lemon scented I once used.
Once that initial citrus blast of scent dies down, it is a really unique woody fragrance with a side of lemon and lime scent that is left behind. This grows a more musky edge as time goes on. To me it is a lovely fresh, uplifting fragrance, which makes me think of happy summer times.
If you are a fan of all things lemon and lime, then I would definitely suggest checking this out. If you’re not, well, why not see if you can try a sample? After all, like me, you might be surprised.
Aqua Citra is available to buy now from the Aqua Manda website where it costs £39.99 for 100ml. It’s also available to buy as a gift set.
What do you think of the sound of Aqua Citra, would you like to try it?

Oh, the scent is so interesting. I think my husband will like it.
This sounds fantastic. I don’t like citrus a ton but the woody after smell is attractive.
Aqua Citra sounds so refreshing and perfect for a hot Summers day. i would love to try it.
Love it when they relaunch old products. Sometimes it’s so frustrating when they are discontinued!
Mika.
Mmm I love citrus scents so would love to try this!
I love the bottle, looks super cute. I don’t wear many perfumes, I’m more of a body mist type gal but this sounds great!
I love the design of this bottle!! Sounds like a great fragrance to try out!!
I love citrus smells but my skin is so sensitive I can hardly use anything… is this an oil I can use in a diffuser, or a perfume?
It is a perfume I am afraid – you could always mention to them about doing an oil you never know 🙂 X
I am more of a vanilla type gal but citrus is great!
This is the first time that I heard of this and looks amazing. I need to check this out
It is wonderful, really different to anything I have tried and used before. x
The Aqua Citra fragrance sounds interesting and I would love to try it. I have never liked the lemon scent until recently. It really is refreshing and uplifting to me now. Thanks for sharing this fragrance and it would make for a great gift idea for a couple of people I know who love lemon scents.
sounds like a great product!! Would love to try this one. Will check out if you have some deals on it 🙂
This definitely sounds like a fragrance I would wear. I will have to find it and give it a smell!
Nice review. I will take a look at the sample area and smell for myself
This looks like such a great product! I can only imagine how it smells like
This bottle is cool, looks like alcohol!
I like the sound of this – love the bottle too. Very retro 🙂
I hadn’t heard of this before, but it sounds like a fragrance that I would wear (and I’m super picky). I love the box and bottle, too. I’ll have to see if it is for sale in the States.
This seems like a interesting scent. I would have to smell it myself to see if it was something I would personally like. I am more into musk type scents instead of citrus.
I would love to try that fragance! It looks so good.
Perfect and uplifting -love citrus scents
It really has that wonderful get up and go zing about it 🙂
I’ve never heard of this but I like the idea that it’s citrusy to begin with and then wears down x
It is such a beautiful fragrance, far from what I expected it to be, but in a good way. x
This sounds like a very nice perfume! I love the bottle 🙂
It is really gorgeous, so different from what I would have expected.
I do like a citrus scent when it comes to a fragrance, more so if it has a floral heart note to ensure the sharpness doesn’t take over x
You are like the queen of fragrances 😉 <3 x
I love it when products make a comeback! I also personally prefer fruity scents to florals so I may have to pop this on my Christmas list xx
It is great isn’t it – I asked my Mum if she remembered it – she said she couldn’t the name but the scent she definitely could so she thinks she has. x
