Unique Garden Ideas For The Summer

Are you looking for some ideas for the perfect way to turn your garden into a beautiful retreat, not just for you but for wildlife as well?

Seating Area.

Something that over the years has been important to me is a nice area to sit in the garden. I used to love sitting out, with a sunshade above me, watching Sally play. Now I’m often found outside sitting with the neighbour’s cat when they come to visit.

Of course, the sort of seating you go for is up to you. From bean bags to relax in, benches, swing chairs or even a hammock, to more formal seating arrangements. Having a spot to sit and relax in your garden is a must, and completely adaptable to you.

Plants and Flowers.

There was a time when I quite enjoyed pottering around the garden, planting things and watching them grow. Sadly, my health doesn’t allow it anymore, but I am lucky to have parents who help make sure our garden looks presentable and full of colour each year.

It’s quite interesting to see what pops up. While this year will be our 9th in the bungalow, we still find new things that keep coming to life in different flower beds. The end of summer last year brought about an explosion of Chinese Lanterns in the flower bed outside the kitchen window, which had in previous years been full of Poppies. 

Animal Habitat.

One thing I really would love to do with my garden is to make it more animal-friendly. We already have a range of bird feeders in both the front and back garden, which helps bring a range of feathered friends to the area.

However, I would love to expand on that, making areas for small animals such as hedgehogs to feel safe. Luckily, these days, this can be easily done with things like hedgehog houses for sale, alongside wooden “hotels” for insects. While planting certain flowers in a wilder area will hopefully, in time, help attract more bees. 

Storage.

One thing any garden needs is a good area to keep things safe. No matter if it is for tools or toys, having some sort of storage available in your garden is a good idea. I honestly don’t know what I would do without our shed.

It can also be used to house all those great garden accessories, which are so fun to put together for your garden.  If you don’t have room in your garden, then have a look at self-storage, which can really help declutter areas of the garden and the home. 

Decor and Entertainment

These days, there is so much you can do to decorate your garden, from beautiful strings of lights to fun flowerbed additions such as wind spinners, water features and a whole host of solar-powered items.
