Top Tips to Quickly Transform your Bedroom Without Having to Re-decorate
Redecorating your room can be a frustrating and sometimes expensive process. We would all love to have a bedroom that is pinned on decorating boards across Pinterest, or in all the home décor magazines, but for many of us this is simply not a reality.
However, here are some top tips on how to give your bedroom a whole new look without splashing the cash on expensive decorations.
Clear up and tidy your room
The first stage in the process. Start from scratch and gather up as much stuff as you can, and move it somewhere else for the time being.
Wiping your room completely clean gives you a better idea of how it looks and the dimensions. You might find that useless clutter could be transformed into decorations for your new style of bedroom, so take your time to work through it.
Once your whole room is clear, give it a deep clean, as this way it is almost like a blank canvas in which you can start afresh.
Separate belongings
Now your room is cleared it is time to properly sort through items and put them into categories such as clothes, CDs, electronics and decorations. Put anything aside that you think could be used as a decoration, which could include anything from photo frames to candles or empty jars.
Any items that are unneeded can be binned so they’re out of the way – they will only waste space in your room. If you have unwanted clothes that no longer fit or just aren’t worn, give them to charity shops or throw them out.
Don’t hoard things you no longer use, as they will only take up space.
Layout
It’s time to decide on your new bedroom appearance. There are many questions to be considered, around rearranging your furniture, putting up photos or posters and where to place your bed.
This might be the point where you start to realise that you would like some new furniture or a brand new bed from somewhere such as Divan Beds Centre just to help with the redecoration of your room.
To give yourself a better idea of what sort of layout you’d like for your bedroom, why not sketch it out beforehand? Be sure you leave space for your belongings, and remember to give yourself some ‘walking around space’ so that your room doesn’t get overcrowded.
Make a mood board
This is a really cheap way for you to decorate a blank wall. A mood board contains items that create happiness and they are then pinned onto a cork board which you can hang from any wall.
Collect items from around the house that mean something to you and are a reflection of your personality, such as, photos, tickets, quotes or magazine clippings. Design School has put together a great article on how to create a mood board for those of you aren’t so creative.
Decorate the walls
One way to simply transform your room is to add personalised touches to them. This can be done with absolutely anything you want; art pieces, photos or drawings from children in your family are all suitable.
Or, if you are really artistically talented, draw them yourself!
Finishing touches
Now it’s time for the small, final touches which will change the whole perspective of your room. Items such as photographs of friends and families, stuffed animals or small ornaments that you have collected over the years will all spark old memories and create a whole new atmosphere for the room.
These are all simple but effective ways that you can quickly transform your bedroom to make it feel brand new. Give it a go and see where you arrive.

Such great tips, I agree with so many. I’ve recently had a bit of a room overhaul, I emptied every drawer, cupboard, nook and cranny and sorted through everything. Worked out what I still needed, what could be thrown and what could be sold at the boot fair. I personalised the walls with pictures and quote signs, some of which I had forgot I even owned. It feels like a new room and I’ve spent nothing
