  1. people who mentally or physically abuse anybody should be sentenced severely I knew somebody who had mental abuse and tantrums from her husband for years ,she went from a happy individual to a shell corr blimey I get so angry about these people

  2. I couldn’t help but cry at the story of your domestic abuse, because I too know how it feels to be abused. But let me tell you something, you are so brave for sharing your story, for despite the odds you survived to tell the tale. They tell you that you are worthless, that you are not good enough but they are scared of you because you are something you are not. You are a good person, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise x

  3. Mental abuse is so often ignored and not taken seriously, but it takes years of help to get your life back together, self-esteem and confidence are so fragile. I’m pleased you’re seeing light at the end of tunnel now.

  4. Abusive relationships are far too common, and so often not recognised until the effects have gone too far. It is a horribly sad reality of how things can be. I had my own experience, and learnt a lot through it. It did effect my own choices, and my life for a long time. But I can reassure you that it is possible to recover, and to find the trust you need to move on from the past.

  5. This is just an awful thing to go through and I am so glad she finally got out of the relationship. It’s great that you are raising awareness and definitely something we need to talk about more

  6. More needs to be done to spread the message that control and coercion are types of abuse and are illegal, people are so brace to stand up and admit to being abused x

  7. Thank you for sharing and for all you both do to help carry the message of what abuse is and that there can be life after. As a survivor of from childhood I grew up and recreated my childhood in adulthood. It took me 16 years to break free with my 4 youngsters. We walked the fires of hell with the aftermath. I have never once regretted leaving even with the hell afterwards. I have a good life today as do my adult children. 2 are in very happy stable relationships and married. I am also happily remarried as I got to break the mould. It still saddens and hurts me to see the work will never end and that women are still dieing weekly (ave 2 a week) of abuse. I suffered physically and mentally) In many ways the mental scars are the one’s that don’t heal. Physical do. I wish you both well with your lives

  8. It’s surprising how misunderstood this still is

If this article is shared it may just help someone in need

  9. Scary how someone can do that to another person. I’m glad you don’t have to go through that now

  10. My best friend’s daughter is in an abusive relationship and she is trying to get her to see that she needs to get out. Unfortunately, it’s not easy 🙁

    1. Oh gosh 🙁 if she ever needs anyone to talk to I’m open to talking through it with her having been there – it is a hard on though as they will use it against you, my parents stopped me us staying at there’s and he used that against them saying it was because they didn’t love me, when really it was because he was a creep (he once let himself into their home and went into my Mum’s bedroom while she was asleep!)

  11. This topic really angers me as no one should have to go through this. The people that deal out this sort of emotional and physical abuse are cowards in my opinion. I’m glad you came away from your abuse a stronger person!
