The “Owch” of the Party Season
It has been a long time since I wore heels, one of the downsides (or perhaps plus sides) of not having the mobility I once had. However, one thing I have never forgotten is the relief of slipping off a pair of oh so amazing looking, but horribly uncomfortable shoes at the end of the night. As let’s admit it now, we have ALL been there.
Perhaps the only thing worse than a pair of uncomfortable shoes is when a pair of comfortable shoes, become uncomfortable. I remember once I was heading off to a gig and had on a pair of low heeled suede boots, they were so comfortable, until it started to rain and the suede shrank as tightly as it could around my poor toes. I remember walking back through the NEC without my shoes on that night and being so thankful I had a lift home, rather than having to get the train as I had on the way.
Of course this time of year is party season and with it comes, new shoes, painful feet and dancing all night long and to show just how a night out goes for most of us who dare to wear heels, the lovely people over at Daniel Footwear have put together this graphic, showing the stages of your feelings for your shoes over the course of the evening.
Now is there anyone who can’t relate to that? I think it must have happened to us all, at least once, over the years.
Do you have any shoe mishap stories to share, or have you managed to pull off the almost impossible and dance till dawn in your heels?

Lots of parties this holiday season. I’ve been invited to a few already but not in the mood to go out with sub-zero temperatures.
I know what you’re talking about oh-so-well! I’ve walked to my car limping before from particular treacherous (but incredibly cute!) shoes more than once. My funniest “shoe mishap” story though was actually in a pair of flip-flops, believe it or not! They were leather ones from Target and the strap busted on my left shoe. I had both my kids with me and was BLOCKS from our car. I looked like such an idiot trying to walk with it back to my car! My friend and I laughed about it for ages.
I love to wear heels until I experienced like in the images. I feel so shamed.. Lol.. Now if needed to wear heels at the party I always bring extra flats..
This is why I am thankful for those foldable flats that became a trend some time ago. It’s really convenient when you have a small bag and you’re wearing killer heels for the night!
These is really great post! Party is really great for fun with your friends. These is so cool!
Ergh this is me at every party!! I’ve started bringing a pair of flat shoes along with me to change into half way through the night!
It’s been such a long time since I’ve been a Christmas party.
I do remember them though – I would always end up taking my shoes off and dancing without them LOL Always had a spear flats in my bag for the journey home though 😀
Great post hun

This was me last weekend! And probably this weekend if I am honest. I think we all do it – suffering for our fashion. Oh well, I can always wear my comfy slippers when I am home 🙂 xx
I have never worn heels because people always say how painful they are. One day I would like to try it out, but I think I would fall on my face.
I avoid this completely. I don’t own a single pair of heels. All of my shoes are flat!
1 of the perks of being a man, i dont wish it on anyone though!
This has happened to me so so many times! Now I always carry a pair of flats too.
I used to run through Birmingham in flat shoes, and then switch to heels outside the venue. I also managed to get a heel trapped in a seatbelt and broke 3 toes falling out of the car. So many shoe mishaps.
Oh no that sounds so painful! What an absolute nightmare for you.
I’ve had a couple of tumbles on nights out, I’m not sure if it was the shoes or alcohol! I try and either take a spare pair of flat shoes! xo
I love this! I love getting all dressed up, and donning my heels!
I went to a party once and some one stepped on my sandal and the sole came away. There was nothing I could do then my nephew had some chewing gum so my hubby stuck the sole back together with the gum!!!
This infographic just dipicted the entirity of my university life as a student now I am smarter and carry flats with me
When I was still working an office job, I used to wear high heels and I had this one pair that I like that I only wear during special occasion but it hurts after that lol.
i love the party season. You have shared a good post which every women knows what happen when they wear heels and it feels so relaxed when put off those heels. Comfy is equally important. I love those images, well explained. Nice Post. I love it simply.
This has been me on and off in the past, sometimes it just takes standing in shoes for a few hours for them to hurt. On a daily basis I ted to wear flat shoes as they are far more comfy.
My favourite part of wearing heels is the end of the night when I take them off!
I so relate to the story in the graphic. I wear 99% of the time flat shoes so when I get on my heels, my special events, by the end of the night I want to throw them off as they hurt my feet so badly. If we could only have the comfort of a flat show in a pair of high heels, haha
This is why I am more of a flat shoes kind of girl, whilst I still say owch when I get foot ache, it isn’t through sky high heels x
This happens to me all the time. I tend to dance very energetically and my legs are killing the next day!
I’ve had far too many nights and events ruined by wearing ridiculously uncomfortable heels! x
