March 13 – Life in a Lockdown #54
So the second step on the pathway to reopening has happened. Of course, that meant people across England queued from the early house to get into shops or a pub garden.
It astounded me the lengths some people went to. However, I hope those who needed to get to shops managed to without fuss. I realised for some shopping on the high street is a lot easier than online and things may have got to the point of needing rather than wanting.
I do hope this re-opening doesn’t end with a surge in cases.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 54 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Right now I’m exhausted, I was at the doctor’s last week and people were meant to be coming to redo our windows and doors and it all knocked me for six.
The doctor’s appointment went OK, but the window people had forgotten most of the windows and doors, so it all felt like a big waste of time as they are going to have to come back. Just a bit over it all I think.
I’m a bit worried about things opening back up, but I do hope everyone will be sensible and it will actually go OK.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Nothing much really bar the above. I was wiped out after it all so I spent the following days curled up watching YouTube.
Hopefully, my energy will be up again a little soon as I hate feeling like even thinking is too hard.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
Going off the blog route here and heading to TikTok I absolutely LOVE Crafty Charlotte Crochet. She makes stop motion animation with her crochet creations and they are absolutely fantastic.
She most definitely deserves all the followers.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
We are hoping to get out for a cup of tea and a piece of cake at some point. However, we will probably leave it a week or two in the hopes things will calm down a little beforehand.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
A local florist does a monthly subscription for a bouquet of flowers and mine arrived this week.

I absolutely love how different each month’s flowers are and they are SO fresh. Meaning they open and bloom before your eyes.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Help around the bungalow. I have no idea how I would have coped with everything that’s gone on without Ash and my parents helping with a few different things.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
It can be really anxiety-inducing. Even with things reopening, there’s this niggle in your mind of what happens if the rates go up again, will everything go OK. How much should I do myself?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I share your fears of a possible third Lockdown, Covid could easily gather pace again through this latest easing of restrictions. Why would anyone in their right mind want something so desperately from Primark they were willing to queue outside from six o’clock in the morning? Pure madness!
I know it is crazy – surely there are other ways to get things without having to queue up and put yourself at risk?
I love the subscription from your local florist idea
It is beautiful isn’t it? I love that they offer something like it.
I have kept busy in the garden anyway
I have found my memory going as time goes by as well. I hope that it works out for you and your windows.
Thank you I hope so as well. Memory is such a strange thing isn’t it?
I’ve been shopping for new clothes and been to the pub too, so happy for life returning to normal again.
Aw it sounds like you are really getting back into the swing of things.
Here’s hoping this re-opening does go well indeed!
Definitely, I hope we don’t start going up again have my fingers crossed.
In my area you’d think that the pandemic was over, no social distancing and everyone huddling together in the parks, it really worries me, I really would like this lockdown to be the last
Oh gosh, that is crazy! It’s people doing that which will make us go back up again.
I don’t see the need to queue for shops just yet , give it a week and it’ll be normal shopping rather than standing outside for ages . Ooo them flowers are lush
Exactly – that’s why we are waiting it out a bit, in a few weeks it will be normal when it comes to the amount of people going.
I can not believe we queuing up early for the shops but we all have different priorities. Hope the windows people bring everything right next time.
Definitely, I’m sure some really need to go to the shops after such a long time with them being shut.
I love flower subscriptions – we always have some fresh flowers in the house and we just bought some fresh ones today! It is bonkers the lengths people went to on Monday!
It is nice isn’t it – I love being able to support a small local business as well, so double the awesome.
Those flowers are lovely, I love having fresh flowers in the house. I’m feeling the same as you that I hope people are still being safe now things have started to open, I have a few little things organised but nothing major in the hope I can avoid crowds x
It feels a little like people have forgotten and think it has all gone away. Which is a little worrying.
I completely agree with you, The amount of people shopping on Monday was ridiculous! I’m high risk so as much as I would love to go back to normality, hit the shops and go to bars, I’m not changing anything yet until I feel safe and I know for sure these vaccines are effective and everyone is vaccinated, I don’t want to add to the problem.
It’s the same here, we are trying to be careful. I keep saying things to Ash like I would love to go here and there and he has to remind me nope not yet.
I hate shopping and really can’t understand the desperate need for people to queue from 4am as shops begin to open after the UK lockdown
No it seems crazy to me, only place to be at 4am is in bed for me lol.
We haven’t ventured out yet although my husband wanted to go to the pub yesterday and we cancelled as I refused to go when we woke up to snow. I am hoping to get out on Friday for a birthday meal which will feel amazing
I hope you manage to get out for a meal! The snow has been crazy!
Am just glad to be able to get a haircut and have a pint. It’s great to be able to start catching up with people in person even outdoors in the not so warm evenings atm.
Honestly, we all need to see other humans, don’t we? It is hard being so closed away.
I have never enjoyed shopping & struggle to understand how people enjoy trudging round shops, with noisy crowds and blaring music, after the stress of trying to find a parking space? My new windows & door is due next week, so am dreading it too, the mess, the noise, the disruption, plus I will have nowhere to hide from it all, every room has a window, but it will make my bungalow more energy efficient as we can fit our fingers through some holes between frame and walls, and the curtains blow a gale!
I hope all goes OK with your windows and doors and you have a better experience than us! Old windows are the worst aren’t they? Ours leak, so we have woken up to a pool in the bedroom before. So it will be a relief when they are finally all done.
