March 20 – Life in a Lockdown #55
There is definitely a mix of feelings in the air at the moment. It seems like a mix of relief around being allowed out a bit more mixed with anxiety about rates. We can only hope that numbers don’t start to go up again, however, with the news that there is another new variant that might not be covered by the vaccine it is a bit worrying.
Of course, in other news, Saturday saw the funeral of Prince Philip. There was something very moving about seeing the Queen alone in St George’s Chapel. She of course isn’t the first to do this over the past year and won’t be the last, which perhaps makes it all the more poignant.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 55 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m plodding along, my worry about covid isn’t high at the moment mainly as we still aren’t doing much and I’m hopeful that in time we will be able to do more.
We’ve gone past some very busy pub gardens while having a drive so hopefully rates will keep low. I’m sure for many the ability to go out and meet in such places has uplifted them a lot.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Last week I had the doctors and I had a few days where I couldn’t sleep well. We did see my parents which was lovely.
This week has been a bit of a strange one so far, rang the doctors and before I go in they want me to have a covid test as a couple of my symptoms line up. However, I’m pretty sure I’m covid free and it is something else.
The test is awful though, I knew I would gag, but when it went up the nose I just sneezed constantly.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I’m going to TikTok again, this time Caenhill Countryside Centre. They rescue animals and are all about spreading awareness to young people. They are a not for profit organisation and I actually follow them on Patreon, where I’m signed up to support their guinea pigs in memory of Dobby and Sock.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
We have been talking about trying to meet up with Ash’s family which will be nice, as it has been so long now since we last saw them.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
I’ve been getting really into wax melts of late and so I signed up for MYSA box (affiliate – using this link you get £2.50 off your first box and I get £2.50 off my next one). It’s a monthly wax melt subscription that offers wax melts from different UK based small businesses every month.
I thought it would be a fun way to try out different brands! They also include tealights in every box alongside some sweets.
If you don’t have a burner, then you can add one to your first order as well.
I was really impressed with my first box, however, I took no photos as I wanted to get those melts on.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
The Sun it’s actually been really nice just to see the sun in the sky. I’m dreading it getting hot, but for now, I will just enjoy it being lighter.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
It is a bit like a rollercoaster, you can think everything is going OK, then BAM it all changes in a matter of hours.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

Hope all are staying safe, I’m glad things are starting to improve!
It is nice to see things opening up again isn’t it?
I feel a bit safer now I’m vaccinated but I’m still only going out when really necessary.
Hate this virus.
Have booked my vaccination for 10th may I’ve put it off a bit as I’m still under the weather but I’m hoping I’ll be feeling a bit better by then
Gratitude is important and so is thinking about the things in your life that we may take for granted. Although somewhat distracted by the cold weather, I am trying to spend time sending gratitude into the universe for such things. Lynn Grabhorn wrote about this decades ago.
I tend to do more when the sun is shining. Have arranged to meet soon a friend in a garden centre cafe for the first time in over a year.
With everything going ok 👍 expect cases to rise here and there but let’s try to
Ok forward to a new beginning x 🥰
Trying to look forwards been very anxious lately though
It feels like we are making progress, just hope things keep heading in the right direction. Its been great meeting people and catching up face to face.
Well I have had my second jab on Saturday & I feel a bit like Buzz Lightyear ” Infinety and Beyond ” but on saying that I as still aware this may never completely go away especially if some people do not want the jabs for whatever reason it’s their choice. But i am under no illusions that i still have to be wary. But my daughter was talking to a doctor friend of hers & he said just because you have had both your jabs don’t mean you won’t catch it or pass it on. But hopefully you will get it milder & not need to be hospitalised.
It sometimes feels like we’re making progress then something gets in the way and it makes me feel unstable.
#7 is so true! Our numbers are up again! Sometimes I feel the pandemic will never end.
I can’t believe we’ve got as far as #55 but happy that the end is now in sight.
I feel a little two ways , I’m happy with the lockdown loosening but also so nervous , I just want normality back now
It is hard isn’t it – such a mix of feelings with it changing.
Like you I hope rates still stay low even though some places have been pretty busy, thankfully everywhere I’ve been has been much quieter so it’s felt less overwhelming x
Definitely – hopefully people have been taking precautions for it all and everyone will be OK!
I hope you get to see Ash’s family soon. Our local pub gardens have been so busy here too – I can’t wait to visit but don’t want to go when they are too busy.
Thank you. I totally understand that, it seems to have got a bit quieter here but it could just be the times we are passing too.
I can definitely relate to the uncertainty of not knowing what will come of the relaxation of restrictions. I am all for it and it’s nice to see people socialising in the sun again, but at the same time some places do get rather busy and with most of the younger population not yet vaccinated, it is worrying to think rates could rise again.
It’s such a mixed feeling isn’t it? Really hard to work out what to think or feel.
It has been lovely with being able to get out and we have enjoyed a drink and meal out with friends which was lovely and nicer that we were lucky with the weather
I am so glad you have managed to get out and about that is awesome!
We are still on lockdown and it just makes me worry about the rising infection rate here. However, I am still very thankful that my family is safe and healthy. That alone is a huge blessing that I am very grateful for.
I am so sorry rates are rising there again. I am glad you are safe.
It has been a strange week, one way I am feeling so happy with everything opening up while on the other hand I am worried about cases increasing. I do hope your test comes back negative and you know what is the cause of your symptoms
I know exactly how you feel, I’ve been so excited for normality but now things are returning back to normality I’m still anxious about doing normal things!
It’s so strange isn’t it – I think in many ways we have become more used to being more isolated.
sunshine always makes us feel better! I have been sat in the garden and it feels so good to be outside with the sun on my face
Aw that is amazing I am so glad you are finding yourself feeling better with the sun being out.
Lovely honest post about what we are having to tolerate this year
Thank you so much, I’ve found it cathartic to write about.
Were all good i was offered the vaccine last week but was ill and haven’t had it yet its all worrying about the blood clot one not sure what one i am going to be offered
Oh no I am so sorry you were ill and couldn’t have it! I had the AZ one, I also take the pill which has a higher risk so I couldn’t really say no.
It has not been a bad week and the sun always cheers everyone up, but I will be watching the infection rate with a lot of people mixing and drinking.
Definitely, I hope it doesn’t rise but I also think there is a risk it will.
