Little Box of Mindfulness Review: Thoughtful Self-Care and Mindfulness Gifts
AD – PR Sample: I received a couple of items from Little Box of Mindfulness for consideration on my blog.
Self-care is one of those phrases that can mean so many different things. Sometimes it might be doing something big for yourself, while other times it can simply be stopping for a few minutes, making a cup of tea, grabbing a chocolate biscuit and giving yourself permission to just stop.
However, when it comes to self-care and mindfulness gift boxes, I sometimes find myself wondering why certain things have been included. Are they actually there for a reason, or are they just things that have randomly become associated with self-care?
So when Little Box of Mindfulness sent me their Self Care Box and Steady Box to try, I was interested to see what they were actually like.
And I have to admit, I was impressed by just how much thought seems to have gone into them.
Who Are Little Box of Mindfulness?

Little Box of Mindfulness offers a range of gift boxes centred around mindfulness, grounding and taking a little time for yourself.
Both of my boxes arrived in black packaging, with a positive, supportive quote for the postman on it, which made me smile; and while they were different sizes, you could immediately tell they came from the same brand.
The presentation was lovely, but what I particularly liked was that the contents didn’t feel like a random collection of things put together under the self-care label; instead, there seemed to be a reason behind what was inside.
Little Box of Mindfulness Self Care Box Review

The Self Care Box is the larger of the two, and I think it’s a lovely mix of things you can enjoy right away, alongside things you can keep and come back to.
Inside, you will find items such as two individual tea bags, chocolate and an unscented soy candle and candle holder. Which when you put them together, they give you an excuse to stop what you’re doing, make a drink, have some chocolate, light the candle and take a moment.
I, of course, had to try out the breakfast tea first, because that’s my favourite. It had a lovely aromatic scent and plenty of flavour, and to me it felt more like a premium blend than everyday options like PG Tips and Tetley.
Then, of course, there’s chocolate.
The Tea & Biscuits bar combines caramelised and dark chocolate with biscuit pieces. I really liked the mixture of smooth chocolate and crunchy biscuit, while the sweeter caramelised chocolate worked well with the bitterness of the dark chocolate.
I’m definitely not about to claim that eating chocolate is a grounding technique. However, I personally find that something with an interesting flavour or texture can sometimes help bring my attention away from whatever is causing me stress and back into the moment, helping ground me.
The candle is fragrance-free, which I actually think is a good choice. Scent can be very personal, whereas this gives you the option of using the flame as something to focus on during meditation, or just sitting and watching it flicker for a while.
The box also includes Pause, which is a wellbeing guide filled with different ideas for creating small moments to pause, alongside spaces for your own affirmations, goals, journalling and reflections.
Some of the techniques were familiar to me, while others just aren’t my thing. Visual meditation, for instance, is an absolute no for me (I have aphantasia, so I see nothing but darkness in my mind’s eye, so it doesn’t work); however, for many, it is a go-to technique.
One thing it took me many years to learn is that not every technique is going to work for every person, and if something doesn’t work for you, that’s okay; just move on and try something else.
Sometimes it isn’t even about learning something new. It can simply help to have a reminder of what you already know when you’re stressed or overwhelmed, and your brain isn’t being very helpful.
The Handmade Grounding Stone

One of my favourite things in both boxes has to be the handmade grounding stone.
As they’re handmade, each one is slightly different, which I really like. The underside has a more natural, textured feel, while the top is smooth and glazed, with a groove that your thumb fits neatly into.
It’s also the perfect size for slipping into a pocket and fiddling with without anybody necessarily noticing what you’re doing.
Or you could just leave it on your desk or a table. It almost looks like an interesting little ceramic piece rather than something obviously associated with mindfulness or grounding.
Personally, I like having the two different textures to move between as well, as it gives me something else tactile to focus on.
Little Box of Mindfulness Steady Box Review

The Steady Box is smaller, but I don’t think of it as simply a smaller version of the Self Care Box.
For me, they have different purposes.
The Self Care Box feels like something you might send when somebody needs a little care both now and going forward.
The Steady Box is more like a small collection of things someone can keep nearby and reach for during those moments when they need them. The grounding stone can easily go in a pocket, while the cards and booklets could fit into a bag, drawer or desk.
One thing I was particularly pleased to see was the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique, within the little card collection sent with the stone.
This happens to be my favourite grounding technique and one I already use myself. I’ve written a full guide to the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique if you’ve never tried it and want to know how it works.
For me, seeing something I genuinely use included in the box helped everything click into place.
These aren’t just things that sound like they should help with mindfulness. They’re practical ideas and tools that I could actually see myself reaching for.
What Did I Think of Little Box of Mindfulness?

I really liked both boxes, but perhaps the biggest compliment I can give them is that I could genuinely see myself buying them.
Not just for me, either.
I can imagine having a friend who is going through a rough time and thinking, “I’m going to send them one of those.”
I particularly like being able to include a handwritten personalised message. You can tell someone you’re thinking of them, explain why you’ve sent it or just add whatever you think they need to hear.
Having seen everything in person, I also think the boxes are well priced, especially when you consider that you’re getting a handmade item alongside the other contents.
If I wanted to send someone more of a care package, with things they can enjoy straight away as well as keep for later, I’d go for the Self Care Box.
For someone who might appreciate having a few small tools they can keep nearby or carry around with them, I’d lean towards the Steady Box.
What really works for me, though, is that the contents make sense.
It doesn’t feel like someone has thought, “Right, what do people put in a self-care box?”
Instead, it feels like someone understands why making a cup of tea, focusing on a texture, remembering a grounding technique or simply stopping for a few minutes might actually be useful.
And I think that’s what makes Little Box of Mindfulness a little bit different.
If you would like to buy either box, the Self Care Box comes in at £35.99 and The Steady Box £15, while you can also buy the worry stones alone, which start at £5.99.
