Life in a Lockdown #6
Welcome to week 6 of the Life in a Lockdown link up!
Thank you to everyone who is taking part each week, I might not manage to comment on everyone’s every week but I definitely read them.
To start off I must once again say thank you to Futures for coming on the journey with me every week and Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to join in with us here are the questions so you can easily copy and paste!
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?
8) Anything else?

So here are my answers for week 6:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Tired, I’m so so tired. Considering I’m not going out I’ve been amazed by how much I’ve been hit by my fatigue.
I thought I might get a boost of energy, but honestly just living is taking up all I have.
I’m a mix of emotions between I just want to see friends and family again and being fearful of what more exposure might mean.
I’ve not heard from the neurologist about if my appointment next week is cancelled, going to happen by phone or what, so I need to deal with that and decide what I personally want to do about it as well.
Oh, I did cut my hair this week. This is something I do when I’m not coping, I have no idea why and I’m not sure what I get from it. However, it’s a coping thing for me and it was it is.
I used to just hack away and leave my hair in a right mess, however, I’ve learnt ways to at least try and make it look presentable. I took about 4 inches off (at least) which got rid of the deadends and its feeling healthier.
Though I totally don’t suggest anyone do this, go see a hairdresser when they are open again – don’t do what I do.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
This week I feel like I’ve done nothing.
I honestly couldn’t tell you other than watching TV and chatting on Facebook messenger, oh and of course sleeping.
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
Still the same, we have a car drive once a week and pick up a chippy other than that we are staying in.
It’s hard to see past that being what we do right now.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Keep talking about your feelings it does help.
Keep remembering that things will get better, even when times seem bleak.
Try and think of at least one thing that made you smile each day.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Actually this week I can’t think of anything to share!
I’ve let the side down! Boohiss.
6) How has your routine been this week?
Bad, very bad.
If you want to know how bad, Bex and I had a competition on Instagram go live at midday on Sunday, my fatigue was so bad I didn’t manage to “come to” until 2 pm.
At which point my scheduler had failed 2 hours earlier. Whoops!
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
Nothing, though going for an ice cream might be nice.
The ice cream man did some deliveries locally but we didn’t see him ourselves last week.
8) Anything else.
Take care, you are important! Socially distanced hugs all around.

im lucky i have lots of distractions (four boys and two dogs) but I am exhausted mentally from all the home schooling and coping with the additional needs of one of my boys – but I will keep smiling through and when school returns in hopefully September sleep for a whole day
Aww bless – I am sure it is so exhausting though trying to keep up with it all you are so strong!
I hope this week has been ok ish er for you? I also need to get my hair cut, and to trim my husband and son’s hair too… could be interesting.
I think tiredness is a thing. It is exhausting this, both emotionally and physically. It’s not normal. I keep hoping I will turn the news on and hear something good to gives something to think it will be ok but it’s not happening, is that weird?
It’s hard isn’t it – I just keep thinking when will it end when will things go back to normal.
I always try and get out for a walk each day. But yes I too have found it very challenging, everything we are used to has completely changed.
It’s a strange world isn’t it? Everything is the same, each day but it is so different from what we are used to.
I can totally understand the fatigue as now on some days I find it really hard to get up and motivated. Been on lockdown for 8 weeks now, and am actually looking forward to going back to work!
Do you have an idea when you can get back to work? Bet it is great to have that to look forward to, a bit normality.
I came down with it 7 days ago, my temperature is still very high, still dizzy, sore throat, coughing, but at least my breathing is a little easier xx
Oh my goodness you poor thing, I am glad it is starting to ease for you.
I have been chatting to a few people and we are all finding being indoors makes us more tired. I have to force us out the house for a walk but it does make me feel better
These are tough times. It is interesting hearing about how other people are doing during quarantine. I think we have all been having ups and downs as we adapt.
It always gives me a few ideas on ways to stay a bit more sane as well.
I find it’s the frustration of other people who don’t worry about the rules that’s really beginning to get me down. I still have to go to work every day, but I no longer feel as though I’m able to function, I feel so low and my ASD is really affecting me, woe betide anyone that rings the GP surgery when I’m in the reception! (I’m actually very helpful with the genuine calls, it’s just the ones that ring up and shout at me that get the brunt of my frustration!)
I agree it is so hard seeing people getting on with life as normal, visiting friends and family when you are trying your best to do everything to stay safe yourself.
Oh gosh, I don’t get why people do that, I’ve had to ring our doctors once since lockdown when Boots turned down Ash’s repeat and we had to try and solve it.
I was doing really well about sticking to a routine, but this week it’s been a little all over the place!
I hope the next week offers a bit more stability.
I guess we are all coping in the best way we can with the lock down so hang in there as it will get better soon. We all (including my son) needs a haircut, my hair is super long but I don’t dare cut it myself and will wait till the lockdown is lifted.
You are doing the right thing. I know I shouldn’t but it’s an impulse in many ways.
I may say life in a lockdown is very uncomfortable especially if we have a routine that is part of our daily life. However if this is the best way to control and flatten the curve, I don’t mind this lockdown.
Definitely that’s the thing isn’t it – it’s saving people and that’s a good thing.
Life in a lockdown it’s not easy at all! I hope it will end soon!
I do as well I just want to see my family.
I used to try and cut my own hair, I always thought it looked better than what it actually did !
That’s the downside it doesn’t look to great, I might bite the bullet and go to the hairdressers after lockdown is over.
I am so tired of being stuck at home trying to muddle through all the work school has set. Hopefully there will be some good news soon.
Hopefully, things will start to take a turn – it’s a strange world.
Going for an ice cream sounds like an awesome idea! That being said I did actually find out our local ice cream restaurant delivers….
It would be so good wouldn’t it – I am going to have to see if the ice cream man comes down here, I think he might skip it which is weird as it’s a main road.
It has been hard to adjust to this new normal. Hoping the warmer summer temperatures will lighten our mood.
It is hard isn’t it and I have a feeling going back to normal will be h ard too.
I am so sorry you are struggling this week, our routine has gone out the window. I woke up late today which has put me behind plus I have C to sort with her medication etc so was late with that
Oh no I hope today gets better for you – it’s hard when you don’t have anything to be up and out for sometimes.
Your doing very well considering ! I’ve found it awful as I’m so missing my 6 year old grandson . I just want to have him back x
I really hope you are able to give him the biggest cuddle soon.
You are doing an amazing job ?
Thank you ❤
All we can do is take this current situation one day at a time and remember to be kind to ourselves and more forgiving of everyone around us. At least, that’s what I’m aiming to do! I spent a long time feeling guilty after being furloughed for two of my jobs and thinking I should be trying hard to find new work. Turns out, my Husband was just happy to have me looking after and home-schooling the kids!
Oh bless – that is so lovely, I hope you are all doing OK.
My routine has been very bad this week too and I have been feeling really miserable and cannot stop eating. No exercise and need to get in a better frame of mind and sort myself out! Hopefully next week is better for us.
I keep eating as well, sometimes I just can’t stop shovelling things in my mouth.
I’m sorry that the week has been so hard on you, hopefully the next one will be better! We are staying in and having groceries delivered. I did drive to pick up our other car from the mechanic and it was bizarrely exciting to be out (even if I stayed in the car.)
It is exciting to get out at times, isn’t it? It’s almost like a whole different world these days.
It’s always nice to see how things are going with everyone else. Thanks for sharing!
Your welcome I am glad you are enjoying such posts.
You’re not alone in struggling with fatigue. My husband and I have both remarked how we feel exhausted, in spite of not seeming to accomplish much each day. However, stress is definitely tiring and we are all experiencing additional stress at the moment, whether we are worried about our own health or the health of loved ones, worried about finances or any of the other additional worries that this pandemic has caused. So I’ve given up trying to force myself out of bed in the morning and will just let my body decide when it feels ready to face another day.
It is strange isn’t it how our bodies react to things going on around us. I’ve forgotten what the morning is at this point in time.
I’m definitely feeling in the same boat with regards to not doing much this week
I think I might just do nothing for a while and hope it peps me up.
I think you are doing amazing! I agree with having mixed emotions of I want yo see my famy so much but at the same time, I want yo stay in my family bubble. I’m still no good at the minute for going out for essential shopping.
It hard as it feels like you are being pulled in two different ways. I’m sure in the end it will all work out though.
I think this lockdown is stressful for everyone! I’m sorry you’re feeling fatigued. Hopefully, we will all be able to go out again soon.
Definitely I think it’s getting to a lot of people as well now – it seems to have been going on so long.
I have been very tired too. It’s so hard! Hang in there, and take care of yourself.
It’s such a weird place to be isn’t it? Feels like we shouldn’t be tired as we aren’t doing much, but feeling over tired.
I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with fatigue – that doesn’t make this challenging time any easier! I am still having such a rollercoaster with emotions and dealing with the challenges I face, but we’re getting there 🙂
It’s hard isn’t it – I think people are doing so well considering it’s such a strange time to live through.
I could go for some ice cream too!
I hear you on being tired some days. I am so ready for life to get back to normal.
It would be so good right now – I’ve seen some ice cream people taking deliveries to peoples doors.
We are all facing issues we never faced before. Thankfully we are coping well but going into stores is a little difficult with the lines and shortages.
I’ve been sat in the car and watched the line at even the corner shop get so long! It’s crazy how long people are waiting.
keep your chin up, we have passed the peak, so the light is at the end of tunnel and hopefully not another oncoming train! LOL! I have started using CBD oil last few weeks, I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, anxiety / depression, I have to say I am impressed, it has really helped me and I was the biggest cynic going, so glad I tried it, will def continue
I am so glad you have found something that has started to help you! That is wonderful!
But you didn’t give up!
NEVER GIVE UP.
Sometimes all I want to do is give up – Love you Dad ❤
