Life in a Lockdown #4
Wow, here we are at week 4 of Life in a Lockdown.
I hope everyone is getting on OK and feeling as good as they can.
It’s been a hard week for me, not due to lockdown, but due to the fact, Sunday marked a year since we lost Sal dog, something I really haven’t got over or forgiven myself for.
Of course, today is the day I join back up with Rebecca from Futures and some other fab bloggers and answer those 8 questions:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?? (Don’t Cramp My Style)
8) Anything else?

So what are my answers for this week?
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Not great, it’s been a week of ups and downs.
Of course, as I mentioned it’s been a year since we said goodbye to Sal do and that’s been playing heavily on my mind.
I had the first chat with my new CPN over the phone, which was really strange, but it is also good to know I now have support once again as well.
Fatigue hit me again the latter part of the week, while I had actually had some energy in the earlier parts. Somehow it’s always worst when you’ve had a few days of feeling more awake.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
The same as before really, Animal Crossing, blogging and entering competitions.
Oh, and sleeping A LOT.
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
I’ll be honest, we went out once last week, we had to go and get some food and we drove past my parents and gave them a wave as we did.
It in some ways did me good, but it was also very surreal, as we passed pubs which last time we went out were teeming with life, are now boarded up.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Don’t let yourself slide, I know right now if I could I would go and let myself into my parents just as I would love a hug.
We are all feeling the pressures of not seeing friends and family we love. You aren’t alone.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

So I saw this on a Facebook market night a few weeks ago and it’s finally arrived and totally plays to the times and my morbid sense of humour.
Coming from Rebel Soul UK on Etsy (affiliate link). There’s a couple of different colour options for this, but I had to go for the black on clear.

Next up some gorgeous items from Canea Chrysalis, who is the creator of Paperhorns!
For those of you who know Sal, I’m sure you recognise her in the first chonx on the left, which was a special commission from me, I also treated myself to a narwhal and a chonx pug!
I have to say I think they make the most amazing trio.
6) How has your routine been this week?
I’ve been sleeping more again so Ash has had to kick me out of bed a couple of days and I’m wormed my way to the sofa.
I’ve spent a lot of time doing not much, which I need to pull myself out of doing as I realise it is my reaction to feeling depressed.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
Nothing specific this week, I’m just hoping that it arrives sooner rather than later.
8) Anything else.
Be kind to yourself.

We’re on shielding lockdown and my brother has been getting us things and I hate not being able to hug him.
We also had to rush our dog Ozzie to the vets sadly he had to be pts. But the vets were fabulous in how they handled it all.
Oh my goodness what a horrid thing to have to go through like this – I found it hard enough when we took Sal never mind in lockdown I wouldn’t have coped at all.
Only just found your web page and and really enjoying your articles and comments 🙂
Aww thank you so much that is so so kind of you.
I agree, one of the hardest aspects of lockdown is simply wanting a hug from your family and not being able to do so. I can’t wait till I can gather everyone together! I miss my little niece so much, she’s only 18 months and I feel like I’m missing out on so much!
Katie xoxo
It really is – all I want is a good hug lol.
It must be so hard missing family members who are that age as well, as so much happens so quickly. x
Really struggling with missing my family this week but must stay strong. Take care xx
I am so sorry 🙁 it’s hard at times to stay strong isn’t it?
I enjoy hearing how everyone is doing, I am finding it a struggle some days. Missing normality but trying to keep it upbeat and happy for my boys x
Aww bless you it is really strange, we aren’t used to it so I think it’s normal to find it hard.
Hard times, but we have gotten this far. We will get through this if we all stick together.
Definitely just got to keep on going and looking out for one another.
missing going out on adventures with my little boy
Oh bless you I can only imagine what it is like with kids.
The anniversary of when you lost Sally must have been very hard for you. I hope your spirits have lifted a little since then. I’ve found that my time schedule was slipping further and further: getting up at midday, staying up till the small hours. The past 3 days I’ve tried to make sure that I get up when I first wake up, rather than going back to bed “for another 20 minutes snooze” which then turns into another 2 hours sleep!
It’s really hard isn’t it – I can so easily fall into the bed late, up late pattern, harder to get out of than get into really.
It was horrid – I still miss her so.
To be honest I’ve struggled with the lockdown! I’m alone most the day with my toddler as my partner works nights in a supermarket and it’s been hard not to get down. I’m also 24 weeks pregnant so my emotions are all over the place and I’m tired all the time! I really am missing the help from my family right now!
Oh gosh I bet that has been hard – sending you virtual hugs.
Loss anniversaries are so hard, aren’t they? I can’t believe it’s been a year already for you, I know how much she meant to you! Hugs. Glad you have been able to get out, although it does feel weird doesn’t it? Also glad you got to chat to the CPN, that is good.
Do I need to be adding Animal Crossing to my life?
Thank you so much, I still look for every everywhere, I expect her to pop up and be like human fuss me now!
Oh gosh yes haha! It is definitely a really good escape right now.
I’m the opposite and can’t sleep at the moment, thankfully I have a huge reading list to work through so I can’t complain.
Oh no, I am so sorry you’re having trouble sleeping.
Having two non funerals this week, am getting emotional at the death surrounding us at every turn, im starting to struggle a little now, but Captain Tom has cheered me up today….
Oh gosh I am so sorry for your loss. I know how amazing is Captain (now Colonel) Tom!
I’ve been missing my 6 year old grandson so much . I’ve never been away from him for so long we’ve looked after him from been a tiny baby while his mum and dad work. It’s so hard even with face time . I know everyone’s struggling I only hope it all ends soon. It doesn’t seem.like a year since you lost Sal she was a lovely dog . I seem to want to sleep through the day I could use more in the night. Hope your keeping safe x
Those paperhorns are so cute. I really ought to start comping again, I used to love it and its so nice to get a surprise in the post
Aren’t they adorable I may have bought another tonight whoops!
So sorry about Sal dog I can’t believe a year has passed already!
I can totally relate to lots of your answers this week. I think the longer the lockdown goes on with no real idea of when things might start getting lifted or how our new normal will look its a stressful and anxious time isn’t it.
Stay safe and take care hun xx
It’s gone too quickly, it still feels like only yesterday.
Definitely I hope they come up with something next week (as they seemed to say they would at today’s press conference) but I have a feeling it will be a slow change back.
You are so right about not letting things slide, it can be hard but you just gotta keep going. I am missing my swimming time though xx
Definitely – it’s hard to keep on at times, when everything is so different.
Just hang in there, I know it might seem hard but this would pass, dealing with loss as well as staying away from family can never be easy. I tell myself this everyday and we are stuck with 2 young kids and it is even harder. Hopefully things will get back to normality soon.
I hope so it’s such a strange world – I can only be thankful for technology I can’t imagine doing this 100 years ago.
The whole lockdown and number of deaths seem surreal to BB. We went on an anniversary cruise the first week of March, and upon our return, Lockdown!! Wow and Woah.
Oh gosh that must have been so weird for you! I hope you had a good cruise however.
I have my moments. Some days I’ll be fine and then I’ll think of somewhere I want to go or do and then it hits me hard. All we can do is hold on.
Definitely, I’m just trying to do one day at the time at the moment.
So sorry to hear that it’s been a year since you lost Sally, don’t forget love can never die, Sally will always be in your heart, take care. x
Thank you so much that means so much.
It’s reassuring to. know how other people feel the same way these uncertain times. I’m going through phases but I feel like I’m mostly ok now, initially, in the first two weeks I felt very differently.
It’s so hard isn’t it – I’m really up and down.
To be honest for me not much has changed as I’m in work everyday at school. The only change has been the shopping, I think it’s both brought out the good and the selfishness of a lot of people. The only worry for me is my uncle who has stage 4 cancer and the affect on him and my aunt. Saying that they are getting a lot of help so I just have my fingers crossed.
Oh gosh your poor uncle and aunt I hope they are doing OK, it is great they are getting help.
Sorry about the loss of your dog; time does help but doesn’t heal. I’m struggling this week as I haven’t been able to go and visit my six-month-old grandson since the lockdown started. He’s my first grandchild so I’m not able to do everything I wanted to do with him now the weather is improving. Hope life returns to normal soon.
Oh I bet that is so hard – I hope you get to see him at some point soon.
Some days I feel so used to this new way of life. Other days I want things to go back to how they were. I recently started jogging outside again and it’s been so great for my mental health.
It’s such a mix isn’t it? Some days feel like nothing has changed as I work from home anyway and other days it’s just like the whole world is upside down.
Well we are week 6 here and with no end to our lockdown in sight in the UK, I am just taking each day as it comes. I think we might start making a post lockdown bucket list to look forward to as looks like it will be while yet til we are free over in the UK.
I think they will keep sharing our lockdown 3 weeks at a time so people don’t panic.
Awww.. Sorry to hear about the lost Sal dog. I had no idea!!! But I LOVE these “challenging” questions. Great to write the answers down in a silent space to allow us to meditate and reflect. Me personally it’s been hard and I desperately want to get back out to work with my business.
Thank you. I have to admit it has helped me each week answering them and thinking everything over.
You are not alone in sleeping a lot-I could sleep for England these days.
It is awful isn’t it – I feel like I miss so much.
It’s kind of become the norm isn’t it. I’m doing OK. I’m beginning to not like my surroundings to be honest. Still anxious about getting essential shopping but I’m still loving living with my family.
I think that’s the hardest thing for me, sometimes I just want a different view so having the same one constantly is urgh.
I can relate to sleeping more than normal. I find comfort in sleeping, but I realize too much isn’t good for my emotional well-being.
Sleeping and eating seem to be my life at the moment.
Not much has changed around here. Thinks are still going good for us. Sounds like a few places are going to start opening up around here. I’m happy to finally be able to get a few things from curbside from our local library. That will keep us busy.
It is so interesting to hear how things are different for people. It is incredible that some places are now free from the virus as well.
These are hard times for everyone. But it’s nice to read about how others are dealing with it!
I’m glad people enjoy reading this series.
I can’t believe it has been a year already! I can see you’ve been entering a load of competitions, I really need to up my game!
I know it feels like only yesterday still, I still expect her to appear and my eyes fill up just speaking about her.
Yes come enter with me – I’m not winning much but it keeps me occupied lol.
Honestly, my life doesn’t change since the start of Lockdown still busy everyday the only difference are I am not going out and the kids are always around with me 24/7.
It’s great some people are finding it not too much of a change for them and are able to carry on as they were.
I am loving this linky as it gives us chance to share how we are coping and feeling so everyone knows they are not alone. I get the fatigue side with my daughter it is hard and horrible to watch her go through it. I do love your little sign x
Aww, I am glad you enjoy it – it means a lot that you take part every week.
Hope you’re doing okay and taking care of yourself. I’ve been working away on my blog but I’m yet to delve into the Animal Crossing world! I’m hearing so much about it…I’m definitely curious!
Ohh you should check it out and see if it is your sort of game, it’s nice to just get away from the world in it lol.
No matter how hard I try to get a routine down I’m just going with the flow to get through my days honestly.. If the weather is nice I let the kids play their little hearts out. If it isn’t we focus a lot on school. It’s all I have the energy to do right now.
It’s so hard isn’t it – everyday is the same but a routine I just can’t get into.
It really does feel so surreal! I’ve mainly been working out and cooking to keep myself sane.
It sounds like you have some things going on to keep you going at least.
My son has been playing Animal Crossing a ton. He loves it. I haven’t tried it yet.
I’ve been feeling up and down as well!
It’s so much fun – it just takes me out of reality for a while I think.
Hopefully the lockdown is done soon! In the meantime, we just gotta hang in there and take it a day at a time.
I hope so it would be nice to go back to normal.
It really is such a surreal time! It’s nice to get a chance to catch up on sleep and take things slow, as this is our life for the foreseeable future it’s best to try and see the positives 🙂
I think for some it is the perfect time to try and catch up on sleep and get some “them time” going on.
I can totally see how people have been. Sleeping more. My routines have been totally off.
I think we all live by routine in some ways and this has taken it away.
It’s great to hear you have been getting plenty of sleep. I’ve not played animal crossing but we now have my parents wii. We’ve been playing Super Mario kart (I think that’s what it’s called anyway). It helps to keep us all having fun.
Mario Kart is so much fun! Had lots of laughs on that over the years.
I am missing my golf, I used to play 3 times a week. I have accepted the lockdown and have enjoyed the less fuss lifestyle. I miss my Mum and Dad.
I bet that is really different not being able to go out and play. I totally miss my Mum and Dad as well.
I understand. A few weeks ago I was too depressed to do anything- no energy and just wanted to sleep. I agree-we need to be kind to ourselves now.
Definitely I’m trying to pull myself out of the rut and do something at least.
I hav to admit my life has not changed so much except for not going out much. i have my work and the kids are always hungry so that keeps me busy with meal and snack prep.
It is interesting how it is so different for so many people and how people cope as well. Mind you if we were all the same it would be a boring world.
Being stuck inside makes me sleepy too and I’ve slept a lot more than usual. Let’s hope it passes when things return to normality
I hope so as well – I think it will be a while though until everything is back to normal.
