This post could be for you, as I have bought together some of my favourite trends coming into fashion in women’s clothing this year.
Pleated Skirts
Pleated skirts are a trend I know I can find already in my wardrobe. They’re versatile, easy to wear, and stylish. While some mini versions have been spotted this year, thankfully, it is all about the midi.
Pleated skirts are a trend that can see you through multiple seasons, just depending on what you dress them with.
This trend can work with all sorts of patterns, colours, and fabrics, so you can really have some fun with it.
Liquid Metal
If you want to know what to wear for a night out and want something more eco-friendly than sequins, then the liquid metal look could be for you.
Most often found in golds and silvers, this trend still allows you to shine and shimmer while looking really luxurious too.
You will find this trend in dresses for women, skirts, and tops.
Sensible Sandals
This year sees sandals taking a slightly more sensible turn. First off, if you want a bit of height, switch out your stilettos and high heels for some flatform soles.
Many of this year’s offerings will have velcro fastenings and cushioned soles, making for a much more comfortable sandal trend for this year.
A trend that’s stylish AND comfortable? I’m all for it!
Custom Merchandise
There is a significant rise in the popularity of custom merchandise. Since you have services that let you create custom t-shirts no minimum order amount restrictions included, new and eager designers are trying to promote their ideas and get a break.
After a little bit of time spent online, you may discover new and unrecognized artists that have enough creativity and originality in them to make an impact, and custom merchandise is the perfect method for that.
Oversized Bags
The oversized bag is staying on trend and perhaps getting even bigger for this year (no pun intended!).
Some of the bags seen this year are big enough to double as a weekend bag, taking you from day in the office to overnight stay.
If oversized isn’t for you, then all-over logos (think Louis Vuitton-style) are the in choice for more normal-sized bags this year.
Stripes
If you love prints, then this year sees stripes being a favourite. However, they are taking on a new life, no longer being all about just being horizontal or vertical.
Instead, this year it will be about vibrant colours alongside different sizes of stripes. These new-style stripes are a new twist on an old classic.
So there you have some of the newest styles to add to your wardrobe during 2023. Of course, we will see a whole host of different trends hit the high street as well over the coming year.

I’ve always loved pleats; I think they look very smart and work-like. I’m also pleased that sensible sandals are ‘in’ as they’re the only kind I have! I’m quite unable to walk in anything higher than a kitten heel!
Oh definitely who doesn’t like more sensible things coming into fashion. I don’t know how people deal with high heels at all.
I think the only trend here that I will be following is the stripes as I have bookmarked a few striped T-shirts that I like. I think the last time I wore a skirt, pleated or not, was in 2000!

I’m not a fashion follower, I generally have no idea what’s “in” at the moment! My daughter though will be very happy with the pleated skirts, as she lives in them 😅
I have to admit I often do my own thing and just wear what I like, but it’s nice to know what’s in.
I am always intrigued as to who decides what is going to be fashionable
Normally the designers who send people out on the runways and then they take items from there and make them mainstream.
I’m not a follower of fashion but I do go for quality rather than quantity.
I have been trying to buy more handmade of late which is nice.

funny how fashion always does a full circle, I remember my kids in pleated skirts 30 yrs ago, loving the sensible sandals though – at last I will be trendy! LOL!

I’m not a follower of fashion, but having lots of oversized bags in the shops will be great, handy for everything!
I have to admit before I couldn’t carry a bag anymore, I always went for oversized ones.

I love oversized bags. Great for my grocery shopping habits but honestly, I hate when I have to find my keys amongst everything else in there
That is most definitely the downside to them, isn’t it? I’ve found some have a little clip for keys though which is so helpful.
I have always loved pleated skirts, they’re really flattering but it’s the ironing that ruins it for me as I’m terrible at ironing 😅
That is a downside, isn’t it? I’m not allowed near irons now these days.
