Skechers Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers: Review
AD – I received the trainers featured in this post free of charge, however, this doesn’t affect my thoughts, which are, as always honest.
I can’t remember now when I realised I was struggling with the dexterity in my fingers. However, around the time I started blogging, I had to give up many hobbies, which used my hands. From writing to pen-friends to making jewellery.
Since then my fine motor skills in my hands have only gone downhill. I will admit that for as long as I can remember, I’ve done my laces up on my trainers very rarely. Slipping them on and off with them already done up. However, the latest pair of trainers I bought just didn’t allow this. Meaning I really had to face the fact, I could no longer tie up my laces.
It was at this point I started thinking about looking into slip-on shoes and trainers. However, I was worried about how they would look. However, when Hirst Footwear got in touch I found out they had a small selection of Skechers, which look like more traditional trainers, however, are actually slip-on.
Skechers Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers

These vegan-friendly black trainers from Skechers have been made to look as though they are lace-ups. However, instead, they feature the Stretch Fit® design, which means they slip on like a sock. Trainers (and shoes) made using this technique are soft and offer a comfortable fit, which stretches comfortably around your foot.
Inside the trainer, you will find an Air-Cooled Memory Foam® insole. This allows the insole to not only mould comfortably around your foot but also offers breathable technology.

What’s more, they also feature a Glide-Step® midsole which will help to shock absorb as you walk (or run).
While they have also been made to be machine washable. These trainers also feature a breathable athletic mesh knit upper and a flexible outer sole.
Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers: My Thoughts

So I’ll be honest, these were the second pair of trainers I was sent by Hirst Footwear. I originally picked another pair of Skechers and went for a size 7. Sadly these were too big (I have a wide fitting foot, between a 6 and 7).
I quickly got in touch with Hirst Footwear and explained my issues, including the fact I was after a slip-on. They very kindly went through the stock they had in and came back with some alternatives for me to choose from.

Originally I had passed by the Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers as I honestly thought they were lace-ups. However, they most definitely are not.
Personally, I’ve found them to be really comfortable to wear. They fit my foot well and the insoles make for a comfortable, supported fit. I have to wear orthotics in my shoes and I’m waiting to get new ones sorted, but I believe they will work well with these as well.
Overall I have been really pleased with Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers. They are comfortable to wear, easy to slip on and look good as well.

I personally find the little things, like having a normal pair of trainers I can slip on, really help uplift how I feel.
Hirst Footwear
I have to just again say thank you to Hirst Footwear, who really went out of their way to help find me a pair that worked. Which left me with the knowledge I would definitely feel comfortable shopping with them in future.
With that all in mind: I definitely recommend the Skechers Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers (which come in both the black as shown and mauve). As well as Hirst Footwear for when you need a new pair of shoes or trainers.
If you would like to buy the Skechers Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers for yourself, there are still a few pairs in stock over on the Hirst Footwear website and they come in at £68.95.
What do you think of the sound of the Skechers Glide-Step Sport Level Up Trainers would you wear them?

I wear a pair of Sketchers which feature fixed, elastic cord laces which I like. TBH the fact the ones you reviewed have laces doesn’t really make much difference but I do get the point. I’m going to try out a pair of bare foot shoes based on a suggestion from a physiotherapist I saw the other day. They’ll be interesting.
Brilliant and I am a senior citizen no your never to old to wear Skechers,Shame they weren’t around in my teenage years.
I am with you there, Sketchers are most definitely for all ages.
They look very comfy, and from their appearance you would never know that they were slip ons.
They are great you really wouldn’t know and that makes me feel so much better as they look nice.
I’m not really a great one for trainers. Not sure why, as there are some really pretty and trendy ones around now. Perhaps it’s because when I was of a suitable age to wear them, there wasn’t a lot of choice – just big clumpy things which I didn’t find that attractive. So I sort of got out of the habit and feel I’m too old to get away with them now!
I have to admit I live in trainers I can’t see that changing much as they fit my insoles so well.
These look very comfortable i really like the look and style of sketchers
They are a great brand, really offer something quality to wear on your feet.
I love sketchers, they always last really well as well. Definitely worth it for the price.
Definitely, they are a shoe that really stands up to the test of time!
These look lovely and comfy! I really need to get some new trainers!
They are so comfortable I have to say – it almost feels like you are wearing nothing on your feet!
These look ideal for those of us who struggle. It enables us to have some independence.
Definitely, it has made me feel so much better having simple shoes to put on.
It is very important to have good trainers for exercising, and Sketchers and have a good reputation.
Definitely and their reputation is most definitely something that proceeds them I always think.
these look great, im a dog groomer and love sketchers as I am on my feet all day
Ohh I bet they are comfortable for when you are up and about all day long.
love sketchers great for my bad feet but wish they could be a bit cheaper
Yeah, I totally understand that, especially at the moment with the cost of living rising so much.
Love Sketchers so comfy i’v had mine for a age’s now, very Lasting, there so comfy it’s like walking on Air
It is amazing how comfortable they are isn’t it? I love the memory foam cushion!
They look really good! Perfect for my mum who has problems with her fingers too!
They are so good when you struggle with dexterity, you wouldn’t really know from looking either they weren’t normal laces.
I love Skechers, I remember getting my first pair when I was a child on holiday in Florida and have stuck with the brand over the years as they are so comfortable
I used to use them for school a lot when I was younger I have to admit, it is just one of those brands that just lives forever I think.
I love Skechers and these sound fabulous, definitely a pair i would want to invest in.
I’ve never owned a pair, but I would love to after reading this!!
They really are so comfy, it is like just wearing a sock, I can find shoes uncomfortable at times but these are lovely.
I love the idea of being able to slip these trainers on would make life so much easier 💕
Honestly, they are SO incredible. It has made such a difference to me being able to slip them on.
I have recently returned to trainers and I am amazed at how much they have changed from being more solid plimsoles.
There is so many different kinds of trainers out there on the market these days, you definitely have to try some out and find out what works for you.
Glad you got a pair of trainers that suit you! A lot of people as they get older find the bending down to tie the laces a problem ( for whatever reason.) I hate when my laces come undone. But I love the sound of these slip ons that look like lace ones.Cool memory foam too! And stretch too Wow! My daughter had her first pair of sketchers with memory foam & she loves them After having trouble with her feet.
It is really worth checking them out if you think it might be for you – I’m sure they are in some stores to try on as well. People have said that Skechers do a lot of different styles of the slip ons as well.
I like the idea of pull-on trainers but I wonder if they will stretch over time?
They may do but then like any shoe they would need replacing in time anyway.
I love my skechers trainers & currently have 3 pairs but like you I do struggle with doing them up and my favourite pair are the ones I that have seen better days as I wear them so much. These new ones would be perfect for me & I see a 4th pair in my future.
If you do decide to buy a pair you will have to let me know what you think of them! I would love to have other peoples views.
I like the idea of pull-on trainers, but wonder how easy it would be to do without help
I’ve found these ones I can just slip on and my feet pop right into them.
They look great, I try to find Converse hi-tops that have zips so that I don’t have to bother doing and undoing laces, but didn’t realise that trainers could be an option too.
Oh I didn’t know you could get zipped cons I might have to look into some of those as well! Thank you.
I like the look of these. My husband loves his Sketchers and won’t wear anything else.
They seem to be such a popular brand of footwear! I love that people like them so much.
Sounds and looks great and also seem like they would be very comfy!
They are definitely really comfortable, the memory foam soles are just such a great addition.
I have never tried them but like you, I must have comfy foot wear, I am hyper sensitive to every little tag or stitching on a shoe, so very few I find bearable anymore. I even got married bare foot as the thought of snazzy shoes filled me with dread and I wanted to be smiling for photos not grimacing!
Aww, it is hard isn’t it – these do feel really comfortable to me so could be worth seeing if you could try some on in a shop?
Oh these are great. I never knew such invention existed. I hope they can do designs like this for kids too because I really don’t like how often my children undo their shoelaces and sometimes on purpose too. Great they’re vegan too
I’m pretty sure they have a range of the slip-on trainers in kids as well, so worth looking into them.
Sketchers are my favourite brand – the only shoes I can wear that are comfy and don’t give me blisters. I usually buy the bungee laces, but these look great too and the memory foam insole is just so comfortable. I will definitely look into these when I need a new pair of Sketchers!
If you do go for them let me know what you think! I’ll have to check out the bungee laces as well. I’m all for some easy to get on shoes.
These look great at a sensible price.
They are such a good pair of shoes, definitely, a must-try!
Yeas I would, I love my sketchers shoes and they would be great to go out running in.
They are so comfortable – I think they would be good for sports with the sole that is shock absorbing!
I have always been a big fan of Skechers and these Glide-Step trainers certainly look like another success for Skechers
They are one of those brands that you just know will be good quality aren’t they?
