My Diamond Friend
When the lovely people over at 77 Diamonds got in contact with me about entering a competition they are hosting, to find out about bloggers best friends and just why they are diamonds, I knew just the person I should blog about; Bex from Futures.
I’m not sure if any of you realise but Bex and I have never met in real life, yet she is one of my closest friends, someone I talk to everyday, someone I know I can tell anything and quite honestly one of the kindest, most caring, funny people I have been lucky enough to call my friend.
I can’t remember how we met, I think it could have been on twitter via a mutual friend, in many ways it feels like I have known her longer than I have used twitter – although that isn’t so – half of our conversations made little sense – I remember random things about Doctor Who, tea, cake and possibly pie, but through them we learnt we had quite a lot in common. I also don’t remember the day I would say she became a diamond friend – the day when the line from friend to close friend was crossed.
Bex is someone who can make me smile when I’m feeling down and home alone as I know I can just open that chat box and not even have to say hey I’m feeling a bit depressed and lonely as soon enough I’ll have a smile on my face, she’s someone who has my back – there’s so many times when I’ve gone to her with what I think is a crazy idea and she’s convinced me otherwise; UK Bloggers is a good example – I didn’t fit in, in the blogging world I don’t fit into a neat box but I wanted to get to know people and I wanted a place for everyone to mingle, for everyone to be friends and she helped me make that dream become a reality.
Sometimes our friendship is spooky – we’ve been known to finish each other’s sentences, come out with the same words at the same time in chats and quite often we end up picking the same items when doing some online shopping (I may have taken to checking with her what she has chosen of late, when we are both reviewing from the same place).
Sometimes it’s just time to watch TV – it might seem mad but we have been known to sit and watch TV together, tweeting, texting and Facebooking (yes all three at once) just what we think of the latest Doctor Who episode.
I could probably go on for a long time – but in many ways there just are the words to say exactly what I want so all I shall say is she really is a diamond friend, some who I know will always be there, who will laugh with me when I’m happy and make me laugh when I’m not, but more than anything I hope she knows how much I am thankful for her friendship and hope that I can give back to her the same support and friendship she has to me because sometimes I wonder just how I was lucky enough to have a friend like Bex.

*This is an entry into the 77 Diamond competition to win £1000 to spend with them.

what a great post, Bex does sound like a diamond friend
You are lucky to have each other!
All it takes is one friend and we are set. Bex is a diamond and you are blessed. Make sure she read this. post
Bex must be blushing from head to toe after reading this. You two seem to have a truly beautiful friendship!
That is very sweet. I have a friend that I sit and watch netflix with and most of my friends live in Toronto Ontario Cananda and I live in Michigan Usa so not too far but still far enough where we can’t say hey let’s go for coffee. Friends like these last a life time and they come so few and far between.
Bex sounds great! I have a friend like this that I’ve met through blogging… Shes wonderful and knows how to make me happy on sour days! Diamonds, for sure!
That is so nice that you have this wonderful friendship and you were able to connect on the internet. I have a few of those myself. They are friends that always seem to be there. I love the term “diamond friend.” I will have to start using that.
What a nice testimony of friendship! I laughed at the multi-tasking w/the TV and technology…so familiar in our house too. 🙂
Awwwww, this is sooooo fregging sweet! Love you guys!
You defo have a diamond friendship!!!
Lotte xo
That’s really lovely! Very sweet read.:-)
True friends really are gems! And it looks like you found one. 🙂
I actually met my best friend on her blog. Who would think and we have never met!
What a beautiful way to speak of someone, especially if you have never met. I have a couple friends that I only know online and yet I know they are there for me just as I am them.
Bex certainly sounds like a diamond keeper of a friend! One in a million 🙂
That is very cool! Aren’t friends the greatest?
This was such a sweet post. 🙂 Thanks for sharing something so positive and fun today!
I met a good friend of mine online too. She is seriously a God sent angel! She has pushed me and gave me words of wisdom. We talk everyday about random things also! I just hope she knows how much I cherish the friendship!
It is wonderful to have virtual friends that you can count on. I think you should try to meet up some time in real life.
You guys need to find a way to meet in real life! That is so cool that you became such good virtual friends.
This is so lovely, you’re lucky to have each other 🙂 x
Awww a tear came to my eye. So glad you have each other 🙂
I’m with Michele I’m amazed that we can become so close with people that you have never met in person. I have a few blogging friends.
It still amazes me that you can become so close with people that you have never met in person-but I also know this to be true. There are several people I have met online who I now can’t quite imagine life without!
I love this, its amazing how close people can become and the trueness of friendship is not necessarily in seeing that person physically. I do hope you get to meet soon. xx
Very sweet. Box sounds like a diamond!
