  1. I’ve never had a pet and probably could have really done with one when I was at my lowest as I resulted into having an imaginary friend instead. I think deep down, we’re all looking for acceptance and unconditional love. Humans are social animals in the end. So I think having a pet that is there to offer no judgement, all of its love and full companionship fills a lot of voids for some people. It also gives people the courage to love, which is not easy for those who have had been let down or have had a heartbreak. It prevents loneliness but also distraction because you have something to care for. And the hard work you put in to take care of it will produce results, you’ll see them grow and continue to be attached to you.

  2. Pets are great stress relievers!

It’s true that pet ownership is no easy feat but the effort is well worth it.

  3. I have autism and find the routine good, and I’m sure on the days I don’t work, I wouldn’t leave my home at all if it wasn’t for the dog walks. I don’t really like people too close to me either, and it’s great to get cuddles I feel comfortable with, and I can say whatever’s on my mind without feeling silly.

  4. I couldn’t agree more! Our pets our best friends and they are like our babies ❤️ Here, at our place we weren’t allowed to keep pets at home before. But recently the apartment owner has kindly agreed and we are so happy about it 😍

  5. I so agree with this, I’ve tried having both a cat and a puppy and being amused with both of them somehow helped me to live a less stressful life.

  6. These are all great benefits, I have been considering getting a pet but not sure which because I travel a lot and I don’t want it to be lonely.

  7. (Sorry – just found it!!) I look on pets as being an essential part of the family, to be treated with the same love and respect. They offer unconditional love and companionship, which is why pet ownership rose dramatically during Lockdown.

  8. I don’t own any pets, but I can see the calming effect it has on my relatives with pets. Dogs, especially offer such unconditional love. Great article.

  9. I have dogs in our house and it’s really relaxing just being with them. Taking care of them also preoccupies my mind especially if I need a diversion.

  10. I so, so agree with this. I’ve had dogs all my life. They knew my secrets and kept them. Humans don’t. But our last dog really broke my hubby’s heart when we had to put him down. All his dogs in the past diet naturally. I really miss having a pup in the house.

  11. I love that my dog is now leash trained. We go for morning walks every day after my son gets on the bus. It’s been so great for my mental health. Plus our snuggles are amazing too.

  12. We would love to get a dog but it wouldn’t be fair as our house isn’t big enough but when we move to a bigger property we will definitely be getting one. I work fro hoe now as well so it will be so much easier to take it for walks and look after it

  13. I have never felt lonely when we have pets in the house……. My dad is on his own and even says that his cat is the only reason he gets up off a morning… and she is literally his saviour…. with any animal, the love is unconditional
