    As mothers, we’ve conditioned ourselves to always put the family’s needs before ours.

    I take time off every day to meditate, pray and practice mindfulness.

I think you have to take time out, to give yourself time, i have found that hard to do in the past, but now i make myself do it, if not i would go crazy, alot is happening in my life and i find it hard to cope with, so now i step back, i dont talk to friends as im embarrassed with most things,

What a wonderful write up, a few years a go i burnt out, got myself in a right mess, i stepped back and took out some me time and i think that’s what people should do, i know in this day and age, that can be hard, but try i went to a few yoga classes, wasnt for me, but they did help with me with their advice to just sit and let my mind travel.

  5. I have been doing pilates for my back to strength the core muscles. Its surprising how much more relaxed it makes you especially whilst exercising ,definitely good for your state of mind

  6. ‘believing in that positive mentality and doing what you deserve’ – this part took me a long time to get to grips with but now I’ve cracked it, oh boy I appreciate and embrace ‘Timeout’ now. We do deserve it ladies + gents…

  7. I agree I have a habit of not acknowledging what my body is trying to tell me! I am going to try and follow this advice and make more time to relax, instead of always being on the go!

  8. I would definitely agree with taking the time to assess what triggers you. This will help you identify potential causes and do soething about it.

  9. I have autism with associated depression and anxiety and can find it really difficult to switch off, learning my triggers before I hit meltdown has been really important, and I just literally have to have a time out like a child if it all gets too much.
    We really need to have more awareness of each other and appreciate that sometimes we just need to slow down and take perspective once in a while.

  10. Opening up to others I find very helpful. While issues with a person should be addressed with that person, keeping things bottled up inside can do more harm than good.

  12. These are very useful tips! Our mental health is very important, and I think taking some time off from routine can be really helpful.

  13. I think this is so important too. Sometimes we all just need to take a break and slow down. I can be guilty of not taking it slow sometimes. It’s nice to have a break once in a while though.

  14. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Whatever you are doing sometimes you got to take a break. Having great state of mind leads to amazing achievements.

  15. I make sure to take a time out – have my ME time and just chill. Mental health is as important as physical health.

  17. This is so helpful. Last year I became very overwhelmed with everything, before crashing and burning over the festive period. I vowed to find a better balance this year and on the whole, I am doing better, however, I need to learn to say no more often as I leave myself very tired and rundown

  18. Great post I ‘ve suffered with Generalised Anxiety Disorder for lots of years and lots of the physical symptoms which are totally horrid . There’s never a cure only medication and I can’t get therapy so I have to do things my own way Relaxation exercises and breathing techniques plus keeping my mind occupied is helpful

  19. I try to take some time out every single day just for me. Whether that’s reading a book, or watching part of a netflix episode. Just anything which is for me x

  22. Self-care and taking care of your mind is very important. I’ve learned the hard lessons of neglecting my own mental health and it wasn’t pretty. I was so depressed around Christmas but things are looking up. Of course, it took a change of circumstances to realize how bad things were before I started worrying about myself.

  23. Great tips here. I have struggled with my mental health my whole life and although I have regular therapy, I struggle to help myself without that extra support from others.

  24. Fantastic post with lots of helpful tips. It is so important to look after ourselves especially our mental health. I’ve always struggled with being open with others especially when struggling mentally but over the years I’ve realised how important it is to talk to others.
