5 Ways you Can Have the Perfect Summer’s Night at Home
With lovely warm weather and long, light-filled days, you probably want to make the most of summer. But how? Well, here are five ideas for spending your summer nights at home without breaking the bank…
- Have friends over for a cookout
If there’s one thing we look forward to most in the summer, it’s having the opportunity to dine outdoors. So, why not invite your friends over for a cookout? Fire up the BBQ (perhaps treating yourself to a natural stone BBQ like one of these) and grill kebabs, steaks, fish and anything else that takes your fancy. Gather throws and candles to make it cosy, and make sure you have ambient lighting so that your summer night can stretch on and on without needing to retreat indoors.
- Camp out
If you like to go camping (or enjoyed it as a kid), why not try it again now? You don’t need to go far, and in fact, you could camp in your back yard if you have enough grass. Pitch your tent, gather up some supplies of camping food and enjoy sleeping under canvas for a night. And best of all? You’ll be able to skip straight back to your bathroom when nature calls if you’ve camped in your own back yard.
- Do some star gazing
If you like the outdoors-y nature of camping but much prefer to sleep in your comfortable bed, why not just spend some time in your garden to do a spot of stargazing? If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere where the skies are clear and there isn’t too much light pollution, you might be able to make out some of the constellations. Download a stargazing app to help make sense of what you’re looking at, and invite your significant other to join you if you want to turn it into a romantic summer’s evening.
- Have a stay-at-home date night
If you’re happily coupled up, you’re well past the stage of carefully planning the perfect first date. Instead, you’re right in the middle of continually thinking up fun date ideas that are more meaningful than watching Netflix together. So, why not have a date night at home this summer? It’s budget friendly and surprisingly good fun, especially if you haven’t done it before. Cook a summery dish together while listening to a playlist of songs that mean something to you as a couple, and then take your meal outside to soak up the last of the evening sun. And what’s more romantic than watching the sun set from your porch or roof?
- Enjoy some quiet time
While all these options are great fun, enjoying some alone time is a good idea too. So, run yourself a bubble bath, take a long walk or simply sit in your back yard with your favourite person while you listen to the world go by around you. Keep an ear out for the sounds of wildlife, and challenge yourself to see if you can notice something about your yard or neighbourhood that you’ve never noticed before. Slowing down like this and being present in the moment is perhaps the most perfect way to spend a summer’s night of all.
So, will you be trying out any of these ideas in your home this summer?
