Top Trends for Interior Design this Summer
For those that like to stay on top of the interior design game, it can be an expensive one to play as it is constantly evolving! However, at Just Landlords they have some suggested some easy fixes to keep you on trend and the budget low. After all, if you are trying to entice potential tenants to your property you want to show that it has been well cared for which is shown through the way it is decorated.
One of the biggest trends this summer is tropical print! It is everywhere from wallpaper to cushions so depending on your budget you will be able to find something. If you are looking to rent out your property, we suggest that it is best to forget about the wallpaper as it can be garish and not to everyone’s taste but a few cleverly placed cushions is a great idea. It isn’t just tropical flowers that are popular at the moment, also tropical birds and palm trees will make the cut this summer.
Another unusual trend this summer is dogs appearing everywhere! We have seen lampshades and cushions with man’s best friend on it, just to name a few. It is definitely a funky way of allowing your tenants to have a pet but better still there is no smell after a rainy day and a pooper scooper isn’t required!
Blue is going to be a very popular shade this summer so if you are unsure of what colour to paint your property and don’t fancy going for magnolia, try a light shade of blue. It is neutral enough to not be a turn off for tenants as well as adding some colour to the property. If you are feeling brave and letting your property furnished you could opt for a dark blue sofa or accessories.
Angular shapes of bold block colours are a hot trend this year. Bold feature walls have been popular for many seasons now but this year you could play around with a few angular shapes on the same wall in different colours! If you don’t think you have the right tenant base for this kind of décor you could tone it down with some angular lamp shades to add a different texture to the room.
We have already mentioned tropical birds and dogs and another hot trend is insects. Yes that is right, mini-beasts in the home has become fashionable! There are some lovely designs out there, and for your rental property we advise a throw or cushions as you stage your property. Candle holders with bugs on them are also a great little touch too. Butterflies have been around for a few seasons but dragonflies’ ladybirds and bees are also making an appearance this summer.
When it is overdone, gold can be tacky but when it is used thoughtfully it can really liven up a room. A great way of introducing this colour is through framed mirrors and it even works really well in the bathroom on the soap dispensers or the toothbrush holder! You might even be able to find a quirky shaped gold lamp to add a little glamour to the dining room for example.
There are some great trends that are going to be popular over the summer so if you are looking to introduce a little bit of character to your property try some of these tips when it comes to staging your property.

I love the dog trend!
Some trends there that are for the brave. Though I do like splashes of colour on a neutral background. Not sure about dogs etc.
Thank you for sharing the new trends.
