The 3 Steps that will Help you Create Healthier Looking Skin
Our skin is exposed to a range of weather conditions all year round, which can often lead to numerous problems. For example, during the winter months, our skin faces cold and dry weather, which is one of the most common causes of dry skin.
During this time, people will often ignore the problem but dry skin can result in spots, flakiness and excess natural oils being produced.
Once you sit back and think about it, your skin isn’t only exposed to various weather conditions, but also to surfaces as well. If you work from a desk then it’s highly likely that your elbows will be in contact with a hard surface for long periods of time, or if you’re a nurse, regularly washing your hands will lead to irritation if they’re not looked after properly.
I think it’s fair to say that the majority of us could do more to look after our skin and because of this, I wanted to create a post which shares tips on how to look after different areas of your body. I have focused on hands, face and feet, as these are the areas which often face the most hardship.

Hands.
People often suffer with dry and cracked skin on their hands, which can often start from the moment you wash them. It’s important that when you wash your hands, you use warm water and not hot, as using hot water will dry your skin out.
This is the same for drying them, so opt for a towel instead of a hand dryer, as heat is one of the most common causes of skin related problems.
As well as washing and drying your hands correctly, it’s extremely important to regularly use a moisturising hand cream to prevent your skin from drying up. If your skin is dry, then it can often feel tight and unpleasant.
Using a hand cream will maintain a good level of moisture and leave your hands feeling soft and healthy-looking.
Face.
As I’ve already mentioned, your face will encounter various weather conditions, sweat and makeup, which can often lead to excess oil and dirt affecting your skin. With this in mind, it’s important that you add cleansing into your daily skincare routine.
Most people are put off by cleansing because they don’t know how to do it correctly, but it’s simple.
To begin with, wash your face thoroughly with warm water. Once you have done this, apply a mild facial cleanser onto your skin, making sure to be careful when you are cleansing around your eyes.
Once you have done that, use a towel to pat your skin dry and be sure to incorporate this into your skincare routine everyday.
Feet.
For many of us, we’re on our feet for the majority of the day. After standing, walking or running for long periods of time, your feet can often experience dryness and cracked skin, especially around the heel.
The skin on your feet is just as important as anywhere else, so it’s important you give it the TLC it deserves.
After showering or taking a bath, make sure you completely dry your feet, as many people often forget to dry in between their toes. If you are experiencing dry or cracked skin, then a foot file or pumice stone is a great way to remove any dry/dead skin.
Once you have done this, be sure to use a moisturiser to replenish your skin and add additional moisture.
It’s extremely important to look after our skin and I hope the tips I have shared will help you achieve a healthier look. It would be great to hear any skincare advice you might have, so share them in the comments section below.
