Synthetic Diamond Uses Which You Might Never Have Guessed

Right?
Well yes for some they are, but synthetic diamonds are also changing the world around us in so many ways. Ways you may not expect, ways which may just leave you thinking, no way! As these days some synthetic diamonds are made just for the manufacturing industries and other high tech applications.
Automotive Industry
Synthetic Industrial Diamonds are for many manufacturers play a huge part of making a car. They are chosen because of their reliability and the fact they are one of the hardest materials found.
Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) is a diamond based material which is often used instead of Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN). PCD is made of diamond dust which has been bonded through high pressure and heat.
So what’s the difference? Well, a PCBN material can cut up to several hundred brake disks, where PCD can cut up to 10,000 and is, in fact, the only material which can the new generation of ceramic metal matrix composite brake discs effectively.
Healthcare
If you have had an operation or sadly needs radiotherapy or someone close to you has, then you have likely come into contact with synthetic diamonds in the healthcare industry.
You see they are changing the way that non-invasive surgery is taking place. As they are helping advance the way fibre optics deliver high-power laser beams. Allowing medical professionals to have more precise, bio-compatible tools.
Which will allow operations to be performed over a shorter time span.
Construction
As I said before, synthetic diamonds are a hard and strong material, which makes them perfect for use in construction.
We do after all need to make sure our homes are made of strong, resilient materials and synthetic diamonds often play their part when it comes to cutting these hard materials to size.
For instance, that granite worktop in your kitchen may have been cut by a diamond saw, slate slabs are often cut in the same way.
While synthetic diamonds can also be used to polish and drill as well as cut, a whole host of other materials.
Of course, this isn’t a full list of all the things synthetic diamonds can do. They are also used in consumer goods such as speakers, the making of aeroplanes, optical devices, high-temperature applications and so much more!

There are so many uses for diamonds that I had no idea about! My husband has a diamond knife which is the only knife sharp enough to slice fish scales to the precise measurements needed for being under a microscope!
