Sleep Comfortably with Sleep Origins
Your mattress. It is one of the most important components which allows you to get a good night’s rest. If it is uncomfortable then not only are you going to sleep badly but you’re likely to wake up feeling uncomfortable and also in pain. Over the years, Ash and I have had a number of mattresses. Some of them have been wonderful and others have caused issues, for a number of reasons.
When Sleep Origins got in touch and asked if we would like to review a Sleep Origins mattress, we did debate whether it would be a good idea or not as the mattress we had previously had been very good. In the end, we decided to go for it. After all, we could always switch them back (something we have decided not to do).
Sleep Origins 25cm Ultimate Comfort Mattress
If you are unfamiliar with the Sleep Origins brand they are from High Street TV (a brand I am sure we have seen either on TV or on the high street). They sell three different mattresses: the comfort mattress which comes in at 15cm in depth, the super comfort at 18cm in depth and the ultimate comfort at 25cm in depth. The right one for you will depend on how much support you require.
Due to my pain levels, I thought we would be best going for the ultimate comfort edition as this offers a double layer of award winning micro pocket springs in the support areas of the mattress. Once I had spoken to the team at Sleep Origins my mattress arrived within a couple of days. However, they didn’t want me to jump in and change my mattress straight away. They actually wanted me to use the pillow app to track my sleep for seven days on my old mattress and then track it again for seven days after changing.
I’m going to be honest here and say I saw little difference via the pillow app when it came to my sleeping pattern. That said, I’m not 100% sure it actually tracked my sleeping that well. I don’t have an apple watch and so for it to work I had to place it under my pillow, where almost every night it tracked that I took 15 minutes to fall asleep, which I know wasn’t always the case. The quality of my sleep also seemed to stick at around 60%. A couple of very high nights can be put down to the fact my phone dropped under the bed and for the whole time it was down there it logged me as being in a deep sleep.
So when it comes to using the Pillow app to track the difference in the mattress I really found that hard to do.
One of the things I liked about this mattress at first impressions were the small details. The mattress includes five different support areas. The two support areas combines award winning micro pocket springs which help to support your hips and shoulders, with the firmer lumbar support zone in the centre which helps to support your spine. I will admit that the first time you lay down on this mattress it does feel different, as the support areas sink to your hips and shoulders, while the lumbar support area holds your spine area firm. However, it is a very comfortable support system to have in place when you sleep.
The super and ultimate size of mattress also come with a weave of antibacterial silver in the top layer, which is a nice addition to see.
As I’ve said before, I am often impressed by the little things and the fact that this includes little pockets to the handles which are perfect for placing in a scent packet to help you snooze really impressed me.
If, like me, you overheat at night, you may be thrilled to know the spring pockets also include Fresh Cell Technology, which helps to keep your mattress cool and comfortable overnight. Perfect!
Overall, I’m really impressed by this mattress. It most definitely offers something different to others on the market and while I am sure it won’t be for everyone as some people do like a flat firm base, for me and Ash it has worked out really well.

This mattress sounds fab. I would love It for myself but if I won I would give it to my mum. She suffers from a bad back and is currently going through the menopause so the fresh cell technology sounds perfect for night sweats xx
I was particularly interested in the following segment – The mattress includes 5 different support areas, the two support areas of double micro pocket springs help to support your hips and shoulders, while the firmer lumbar support zone in the centre helps support your spine.
I suffer from neck and shoulder pain and this sounds like exactly like the support I need from a quality mattress
I love the sound of the support system, I have arthritis in both hips, so whilst I need a firm mattress this is brilliant that the support areas sink to your hips and shoulders, sounds like a very comfortable nights sleep for someone like me
The lumbar support area for the spine is what I felt was the most interesting
I too overheat in the night so to read about Fresh Cell Technology, and how it helps keep the mattress cool is music to my ears .
The Fresh Cell Technology sounds amazing! I want this mattress!
Would be amazing to try this mattress. Sounds amazing and with fibromalyga a mattress like this one is a dream come true
Definitely the pockets spring support as I have problem with back and rib pain, but I also like the idea of the pockets for storing scents – everyone loves a fresh linen smell when they go to bed.
The mattress sounds very good and I like the idea of it being cool overnight
It is time for a new mattress, this sounds like it could do the job
The five support system sounds fabulous, as i suffer from back & neck problems, which always mean i can’t get comfy for hours!
i desperately need a new mattress as my current one is a cheap old one which is terribly uncomfortable and this mattress sounds like the queen of mattresses!
Our mattress is lumpy and baggy
When my hubby moves it goes all saggy
I sleep with a very grumpy insomniac
Who when desperate, tries to interact
Interrupting my peaceful slumber
A new one I should get, I wonder?!
I like the cooling bit as a perimenopausal hot flush sufferer!
The fact that this mattress includes five different support areas is intriguing…
The Fresh Cell Technology sounds amazing! I really struggle in the summer as I’m a terrible sleeper when it’s warm, so this sounds like it could be right up my street!
It looks lovely and comfy. I like that it has different support zones, I’ve not tried a mattress like that before but it sounds like such a sensible idea!
We bought our mattress in June 2007, when we bought our first house, so we definitely need to replace it. The micro pocket springs sound so comfy, my husband falls asleep straight away but it takes me a bit longer, this sounds lovely.
I love the fact that it has a firmer lumbar support zone in the centre helps support your spine, as I often have back problems, I think this would help. I like the sound of the weave of antibacterial silver in the top layer too.
I love the sound of the 5 different support areas, as my mattress is so unsupportive and gives me backache.
Really need a new mattress but so does my son! Interested in the lumbar support especially and the little pockets for storing things; I also get too hot then itchy up my nose and need to access a tissue. The fresh cell technology sounds fascnating as my other half tends not to get as hot as I do and wants to stay all warm and snuggled.
Only thing slightly bothering me is this sleep tracker idea; I don’t like apps at the best of times so would really rather no t do that part.
I’d love to know more about the different depths of the mattresses, it’s something I had never considered before.
My husband would love that the mattress stays cool overnight
Definitely in need of a new mattress. Wake up every day with an awful back! The support of this mattress sounds fab
i really like the sound of the different support area and the little pockets on the side what a great idea
Ive been suffering with a back complaint for about 2 years and the fact I spend all my working hours stood at a counter really aggravate this. The firmer lumbar support zone sounds like something that might help
