  1. Sleep patterns are really interesting! Several US Presidents and other high functioning, high profile characters have/had crazy sleep patterns, with naps throughout the day. One of them even held meetings from his bed! I wish I could do that… humans are biologically set to nap, 9-5 doesn’t work for us! And definitely not for me! 😀 zzz

  2. It’s so interesting to see the comparison with other countries. I think I don’t get enough sleep, or maybe I don’t get enough GOOD sleep. It definitely takes it’s toll on me and how productive I am each day.

  3. Loads of interesting and fun facts to know, the sleeping in the office in Japan to show how hard you have been working made me smile!
I have a nap while in Greece during the summer, I find it impossible to function in 40 degrees but then I end up staying late at night. But most people do the same thing here, their lives are regulated by the weather.xx

  4. I love sleep, naps are like a little treat, and I am a basket case if I don’t get 8 hours. God knows what will happen if I ever have kids! ?

  5. I can not nap. If I do I can’t sleep at night. I have to stay asleep until bedtime even if it kills me to do so.

  6. I have different sleeping patterns lol – sometimes I don’t sleep enough sometimes I sleep too much lol.. I never thought about it though lol.

  7. Really informative post! I definitely don’t get enough sleep and sometimes find myself dozing off on the sofa with Max!

  8. What fascinating information. I can vouch for the Japanese napping at work, I used to work for a Japanese company and the Manager would often have a snooze at his desk or midst meeting.

  9. Thanks for a really interesting post. I don’t feel like I get enough sleep at the moment. Ideally I would have 9-10 hours each day but realistically that’s not going to happen. I do sneak in a nap whenever possible though!

  10. I can sleep and sleep, more than the average. I am one of the 43% who have a hot drink before bed and then end up getting up through the night desperate for the loo 🙂

  11. Well this blog title cloud have been so very different lol… Anyway I sleep less than average which doesn’t surprise me x

  12. Wow, that is a really high percentage on the nap taking UK statistics, have always forced myself to stay awake through that afternoon slump buy maybe I should go with it to get better focus and concentration.

  13. I love my sleep! I kinda wish that we had siesta in the UK – I would love a bit of downtime during the day but I’m always too busy!

  14. I am a terrible sleeper. I wish that I wasnt and have tried everything, to no avail. The thought of an afternoon nap really appeals and I wish I could

  15. Great post; very interesting to read! I definitely sleep more than the norm UK person. It is not a desire to, but more of my brain needing it. I wish it didn’t in reality. Lucky Japanese!

  16. I loved this post – I’ve never seen anything quite like it on a blog before but really enjoyed reading it! I definitely get more sleep than average, who knew how little people sleep in Tokyo! I loved facts like 21% of americans sleep with a pet in their bed.

    Thanks for sharing! XX

  17. As an American, I will say that we are just over worked to the bone, and naps are frowned upon. When there is a nap snuck in, it’s because we rushed home from work to get ready for another event and needed some sort of sleep to keep up with the day. I wish we had more emphasis on sleep, instead of depending on pill prescriptions to give us what we need. Great article!
