Signs You Should See Your Gynaecologist
Most women do not look forward to visiting their gynaecologist, so they try to only go when it is really necessary. For most that is just the occasional check-up, but they may be ignoring signs that they need to go simply because they don’t want to go. Women’s health is very important to stay up-to-date on, but a lot of women don’t know what changed in their body are simply normal or something for concern. So when should they make the call and set up an appointment? Here are some signs that you should see your gynaecologist.

There are changes to your menstrual cycle.
This is one of the biggest signs that you should see your gynaecologist. While changes to your menstrual cycle can be normal or a response to stress, if they are prolonged it is important to talk to a gynaecologist to rule out any abnormal reasons for the change. They will be able to run some tests to rule out anything harmful, and they also might be able to prescribe medication to make the menstrual cycle more normal again.
You have any change in smell or discharge.
This is another sign that it may be time to talk to your gynaecologist, as this can be a sign of a yeast infection or an STD, both of which may require medical treatment. Slight and temporary changes are normal, but if there is a distinct difference it is time to talk to the gynaecologist to rule out anything abnormal. If you are unsure, it is okay to schedule an appointment to talk to them and, the gynaecologist will be able to tell if it is something normal or something to worry about.
You have any type of pain beyond period cramps.
While most women deal with period cramps, a lot of pain is not normal and is something that someone should consider seeing their gynaecologist about right away if it intense or prolonged. They will especially want to consider seeing the gynaecologist if the pain is debilitating or the pain happens outside of the menstrual cycle.
You have any bump or growth.
This is another sign that you should go see your gynaecologist, especially if any of the bumps have irregular edges or are growing rapidly. Most of the time, bumps are not a cause for concern, but it is always better to have a gynaecologist check it out if you are worried that something might be abnormal.
Nobody wants to go see a gynaecologist, but women need to remember that anyone who went into gynaecology is just here to help. They have seen every one of the issues listed above before, and they will be able to help find a solution. Gynaecological issues can cause a lot of anxiety, so sometimes it is better to just go talk to a gynaecologist so that they can educate you on what kind of changes are normal and what kind of changes should be looked at.
