September 8 – Life in a Lockdown #23
So here we are, another Tuesday and another Life in a Lockdown.
The world is becoming more normal in some ways. Many parents have sent their kids back to school.
I often feel like I am on the outside looking into a world becoming more normal at times. However, I guess we can only do what feels right to us.
Of course, I have to start this by saying thank you to Bex at Futures for joining me each week and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part I promise it is simple:
We do ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, with how you find the link-up! You will be able to copy all the questions from below to answer in your own world.
Then all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can come and read your post.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 22 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’ve been having this weird anxiety. I was talking to my CPN about it on Friday. Normally with anxiety, I shut down and sleep. However, this time I am not feeling tired, the anxious feeling is higher in my chest and rather than it making me breathe quicker, I find myself holding my breath, while my heart seems to beat out of rhythm.
Perhaps that is just a sign of this year. Everything is upside and different.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
I’m sat here trying to remember now and I think the answer is not much. Having DBT and my CPN in the same week means I am mentally fatigued most of the week.
As such we’ve really just sat around at home and watched TV.
We finished off Snowpiercer, then went onto The Fall on Netflix, watched the film Ready or Not and have just gone back to watch Fairy Tale after Ash found some more on Funimation.
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
Same old same old.
We are going out for appointments, to see my parents and a few friends at a social distance once in a blue moon and that’s about it.
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
Nowhere new this week.
Though I have decided that as well as a place makes the idea of social distancing, it falls on the public to keep it up and many people just don’t.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
There is something about sea glass that I find calming. I’m not sure if it is because it reminds me of the beach, which in turn reminds me of time with family. Or if it is something else.
Anyway, I came across this beautiful wind chime made from sea glass and driftwood by Kats Coastal Crafts UK on Etsy and well just look!

It is fantastic. Sometimes I’ll open and parcel and be like this is so much better than I thought it would be and I knew I would love it. This was definitely one of those times.
Also check out my new ghost from Wild Inanda Crystal Store, as everyone needs a new ghost for Autumn. He was a second as a little chipped but I still think he is cute!

6) How has your routine been this week?
It’s been a weird one – I’ve been waking up earlier I think, but just allowing myself to drift in a daze for a while. So somedays I have been getting up later.
I really need to stop allowing myself to do that as I know I’m doing it to not have to face the day.
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
I’m learning a bit more about SEO – this is definitely something I need work on though. I’ve really neglected in my nearly 10 years of running Life in a Break Down.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Having people around me I can talk when I’m not feeling myself.

Things are hard right now, I hope it gets easier for all of us soon.
I hope so as well, I’m dreading things getting worse again.
Love the windchime but how cute is that little ghost Anxiety is awful.having a bad time with mine at the moment. I had an awful attack a few days ago I went so dizzy like vertigo The physical symptoms can be quite alarming. They pass but leave you drained. Just have to keep fighting and carry on x Unbelievable this lockdown It’s really not surprising our anxiety levels soar.
It is so pretty isn’t it. Anxiety systems are awful and how they can be so different from person to person, I’ve found it odd how mine have changed over this lockdown into systems that are very different to those I am used to.
Oh I love your wind chime! And I also have been working on SEO a lot lately
It is so beautiful isn’t it? I hope your SEO efforts are going well!
That chime is so nice, yes life in lockdown is not that easy, Yes we are still in difficult situitaions.
Definitely one of my favourite buys this year so far. It is a very strange year to be part of.
yes, someway the life goes to normal, even that we all have the fear to get covid, but we need to continue living and do the normal things.
It’s hard isn’t it – I am still unsure what is the best thing to do in many situations.
I get anxiety too so I totally get how you felt! I usually try to do things I enjoy and that make me happy to get my mind of it. Loving your wind chime’s and that ghost crystal they are supper cute I love etsy they always have the cute’s things plus I like supporting small shops. Wishing you a great week ahead love with no anxiety <3
Etsy is so much fun isn’t it – always something new to find there. Anxiety is the worst as well I am so sorry so many people suffer from it.
Life in a lockdown is tuff. You find yourself having to reinvent the wheel.
That is a really interesting way to think about it and makes total sense as well.
Brilliant post. I love Etsy, spend fortune there, I always need something to buy from them 🙂
It’s always nice to check out, isn’t it? So much on offer and to choose from.
For the first time since March our book club met. It was a great time to really see people.
Aww, that is awesome I am so glad you are able to see some people again.
Sorry to hear about your anxiety but it’s good to hear that you have people around you that you can talk too.
Thank you – it’s taken me a long time to actually open up about things but it does make a difference.
The wind chime is really good
It is really pretty isn’t it – a lovely way to use sea glass.
That’s a cute wind chime. This has been especially hard for my husband and I. We got married at the start of covid, and we live in a crowded area where there’re no interesting places for social distancing.
Oh gosh, I am so sorry things have been so hard for you.
I hope that the CPN can help advise on coping with the anxiety. I saw Ready or Not too whenit came out on Sky the other day. Love that unexpected ending x
It was so good wasn’t it – I was like nah they are just going to believe it and it’s nothing haha.
OMG, we loved the Fall – I think we binge watched it in a few days in the end. That wind chime is gorgeous and the little ghost is super cute
We did the same – it was so good wasn’t it. I was going to leave it if they went down the DID route with him so glad they didn’t.
Steve has suggested watching Snowpiercer and I’ve told him we need to watch Ready or Not – its like we are twins HAHA. x
Haha totally is! And you definitely need to do both they are fab!
The wind chime is so pretty and unique. Now I want to replace ours! Haha. We do our best to support small businesses and every weekend I visit a small plant store in our village. The owner has such pretty potted plants and I recently bought a Mini Caladium plant. I am a certified plant parent!
Haha there’s nothing like a good windchime is there. Aww, that sounds like a lovely plant shop!
The Fall is one of my all time favorite shows! I’m watching the new season of Lucifer. It’s a great guilty pleasure.
It is so good – how did I miss it originally I will never know. I love Lucifer, my OH is a pain for not wanting to watch 1/2 seasons though so got to wait it out.
I do hope you feel a lot better with your anxiety in the coming week. Wind chimes have always facinated me but I have never seen one made from sea glass before so totally loving your purchase.
Thank you so much! It is so pretty isn’t it? I haven’t seen one made from sea glass before either which is why I had to have it haha.
I think all of us suffering from anxiety related conditions are feeling it more and more. Now Caerphilly in Wales is back on lockdown and that’s down the road from us. It feels like this pandemic will never end. I have heart palpitations too.
I’ve heard Wales had gone back into a more lockdown situation in some places. It’s not good is it 🙁 I see no light with it all at the moment.
I seem to spend a lot of time on Etsy looking at various things, it is amazing what you can get on there that you can not find elsewhere.
I can honestly get lost on there it is so bad haha!
I feel like I have been living off Esty the last few months and recently bought cute pjs with my girl pals and wore them for a weekend getaway.
Haha it is the same here – I love that there is so much choice on there for different things.
What an excellent read. I love your crystal stone ghost. I must have that in my life! I’m doing okay over where we are, we never really shut down that fully anyways in my region. We didn’t get hit hard, and our area stayed pretty free for people to make their own choices on being safe, for the most part. I still don’t venture into many stores, life surely hasn’t been “normal” for me in months, but I’m doing OK. I hope that you’re doing okay!
That is awesome that your area has managed to keep it under control – it is amazing how different places have dealt with it and how they have had such different results.
I love crystals and that ghost is too cute! Hope you have a better week this week.
Thank you so much – it is adorable isn’t it.
I’m sorry that you had a rough time with anxiety last week. That windchime is really pretty! Hoping this week is better!
Thank you so much – anxiety can be such a pain!
” Life is like a box of chocolates”. A quote from the film Forrest Gump. I suppose it can be interpreted in a number of ways. Though Forrest Gump goes on to say ” You never know what you are going to get”, and tells us “Like my Momma used to say”. So he is reminiscing. He has learnt from his Mother, by listening to her. She has shaped his life, and future by ‘being there with and for him’. He has gained a sense of certainty, security, perhaps expectations from his Mother, her words, and their e peri emcees together. For Forrest :- ” Anything was possible” with his Mother’s Love. She loved him as he was. She loved him for himself. She gave him a strong Foundation.
Yet she had aimed to prepare him for the future :- It brings variet, a mixture of things :- Perhaps even :- Good, Bad (not so good) and indifferent (not particularly memorable) :- Just like a box of chocolates :- Variety. Variety can be the Spice of Life.
Watching :- ” Fergie and Andrew : The Duke and Duchess of Disaster”. Seems the Royals are in the limelight ( good, bad, and indifferent). Yet perhaps all the Royal related tv programmes shown on tv during ” Lockdown” has brought ” Royalties ” / ‘ filled the coffers’. Why?
What do the public really want or expect from the Royal Family. Who are Funded via Public Funds. Who are already Rich / Wealthy. How will they ‘modernise’ . What will ‘ the slimmed down version look like’. For certain they will continue. Perhaps ‘a new norm’. Royalty / Celebrity / Actor /Advertiser / ‘hands on’ ( presently no hand shakes, due to Coronavirus / covid 19 Regulations.
Good / Bad / Indifferent. Seems somehow we need to try to learn to take it all ‘in our stride’ . Life is what it is :- Varied.
Your chime is so nice. Etsy always has so many amazing items.
It is fab isn’t it – I am always amazed at the things you can find.
I love the wind chime, but the ghost is the star for me. It is so adorable!
Isn’t it just the best haha! I’m awful for crystals.
That wind chime is absolutely beautiful, I love how natural it looks.
We are putting ourselves back in to a voluntary lockdown due to being back at school, I’m worried about being more exposed and then seeing my Dad and passing it on x
Isn’t it lovely I wish I had been able to get a better photo but I sucked at taking them that day.
Oh gosh – I am so sorry 🙁
This is a good time to learn about SEO. I’m trying to learn something about Pinterest!
I’m not very good at pinterest I just set up tailwind and hope lol.
That is such a pretty wind chime. I ordered a mask from an Etsy store this week.
I need to learn more about SEO as well.
Ohh what kind did you order?
It’s so hard to get your head around (or I think it is).
