Preparing Your Beauty Kit for Festival Season
The British summer time offers many unique delights, one of them being the festival season. Despite high chances of rain and potential thunder storms nothing stops us Brits making the most of a day in a field. I truly believe nothing quite captures the true beauty and essence of the British quite like our perseverance to have a great time when all else is quite frankly, miserable.
With that in mind and of course the pending kick off of Glastonbury fast approaching, I think we could all do with a scrub up on how to do beauty in a field full of mud and drunk people. So before you partake in any cliché festivities, be sure to pack a few essentials that are sure to keep you radiant come rain or shine.
Protect Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself
It may seem obvious and I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times but there really is nothing more important to have with you than sun protection, minus your toothbrush, clean underwear and deodorant of course. Speaking from experience no matter what make-up you do happen to remember, it won’t look too nice when covering your glowing red skin.
Excitingly there is such a thing as super long-lasting deodorant. Nobody wishes to smell bad which is why I recommend you invest in Truly’s Cream deodorant. This unique product uses sugar as the active ingredient, if you didn’t know sugar is indeed an antibacterial, as well as everybody’s favourite multipurpose ingredient of coconut oil.
I recommend you look for SPF with 30 or higher and oil free. Many festivals do now come with communal showering areas but the chances of you queuing for those everyday are slim. Oil -free sun cream will prevent the build of unwanted oils in your pores meaning you can party without any major spot issues, hurray.
Natural Skin
If you’re lucky and the English weather decides to be kind, it may just be that you catch a healthy glow. I personally have no time for foundation at a music festival and instead use tinted moisturiser, the perfect accompaniment for your summer kissed skin. Even at care free summer festivals, we all need a little coverage. Tinted moisturiser applies super easy and similar to your everyday moisturiser – great for when you are on the go. Your skin care routine will be shifted whilst embracing festival life, tinted moisturiser will allow you to simply wipe away with a face wipe at the end of the day and fast apply come morning.
Moisturising
I understand there may be a few ciders involved but whatever you do, remember to moisturise before putting head to tent floor. The long days and hard partying will take its toll on your beautiful skin meaning you need to replenish it best you can.
My April love me beauty post is full of great travel size beauty gifts perfect for your festival wash bag. This potentially being a perfect go to option to affordably and efficiently supply yourself ready for your trip.
Spice Up Your Hair
So with body washes no longer a definite your hair will most likely be lagging too. Take care of your hair with dry shampoo, this wondrous invention allows out hair to quickly burst back into action all jam packed into one small little can. There is a best practise when it comes to applying dry shampoo, do not make the mistake of simply spraying it all over. You may find yourself looking a little like a much older version of yourself.
Part your hair into sections before spraying the dry shampoo directly onto your scalp. Simply massage it in with your fingertips until you are happy the whiteness has well and truly disappeared. You may find my hair care tips for spring useful when planning your festival hair styles.
Happy festival x
