October 6 – Life in a Lockdown #27
I can’t remember much of what’s happened since last week in news over here. Some more places are under local lockdown, but nothing of significance comes to mind.
Trump has of course got a case of COVID in news from across the pond.
Of course, I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 27 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’ve been absolutely exhausted the past week and it has all been a bit of a blur.
I believe it was Monday I got a call saying can we come and do your wetroom next week! I was a bit overwhelmed at the idea it would be started in just 7 days time (and as this goes up we should be on day 2). However, I am also excited to think that I will be able to wash properly.
As such, most of the week as spent tidying out the bathroom. I’m actually writing this post on Saturday as I know I will cope with nothing once the work starts. So I still have a bit of clearing out to do and sorting what to do with things we will need during the work.
Oh, and we need to dust cover the bedroom as well.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Other than sorting out the bathroom, we went to the cafe by the canal again for a cuppa. It is just nice to get out. Not sure how much longer we will be able to do it with the weather getting cold and wet. None of us feels ready for sitting in.
It was also my Great Aunts birthday zoom call. I got to see family from all across the world, some of whom I’ve never met and all of whom I’ve not seen for a long time (bar my parents) due to current world goings-on.
3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?
Trying to get things done, I’m struggling to think straight a lot of the time and have had a week where I’ve caused one disaster after another.
4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?
Again we have been nowhere different so nothing to add to this.
However, I’m really sad the local pub has totally stopped their delivery service after drawing it back to just 2, time slots. They had originally said they were going to keep it going for all those who can’t get to them.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Can we just talk about my ghost pup earrings! They are from a Kickstarter I backed a while ago and OH MY I do love.

They are from Sian Ellis (affiliate Etsy link) and I think I need more of her offerings.
Personally, I love her Halloween style pet portraits, while if you love ghosts there is a whole host of spooky offerings to choose from.
6) How has your routine been this week?
Still not sure what one is.. Sorry.
7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).
While I might be learning DBT skills, when I go into crisis I’m not good at putting them into action.
Must try harder.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Friends and family talking me down when I start thinking the worst is happening.

A huge thank you as always to everyone who linked up with us last week.

I’m trying my hardest to keep positive and not watch to much to protect
My
Mental health because it’s a struggle at the minute
I’m finding the same – it’s harder this time than it was the first I feel.
Just been trying to get out running and walking when I can to get my mind off it
That sounds like a good way to work out some of the stress from the world.
Watching the news is depressing. I try to learn new recipes and meditate more.
Love those earring, btw!
It really is, isn’t it, it’s so hard to watch at times.
I am loving thoses spooky gof earrings! perfect for Halloween. Looks like we will be having Halloween at home this year, as I think we may go into another rlockdown
It is so depressing to watch the news and such a worry too. We are back in some kind of lockdown circuit breaker, so close to Halloween, it’s hard xx
I’ve taken to turning the TV over if the news comes on, all of the Covid-19 news is too much
Whoever would have thought we’d still be living like this for this long? I’m beginning to wonder what will happen at xmas if a full lockdown comes back. Fingers crossed things will be a bit better by then and not have gotten worse.
It is crazy isn’t it, I thought we would only be like it for a month or two. I do wonder what the coming months will hold.
It is a great time to get ahead on the house work. I have been busy getting some good work done.
Oh well done – ours is a mess at the moment with builders in their is dust everywhere.
Our pandemic lockdown feels like it will never end! I really hope a vaccine will be figured out soon.
It’s horrid isn’t it – I just want something normal to happen something mundane would do me.
Really had enough of it all now. My daughter had an operation for her malignant melanoma and they told her she would get her results two weeks later to see if she needed any other treatment. 6 weeksand nothing because they’re too busy testing for covid. It’s really not on. They aren’t thinking of other illnesses . I despair I’ve had to get in touch with our local mp to see if he can help. So not having it very good and my anxiety is sky high x
Oh my goodness that’s awful – I really hope you hear something soon, it must be so worrying just waiting like this!
All the weeks just blur together for me now and it’s crazy that it’s already October. Ghost pup earrings are amazing and I need to get myself a pair!
I know I can’t keep up with how quickly this year is going by – it needs to slow down!
Nice post. I’m trying to look to God and stay in a positive frame of mind, so I have to limit my news intak!
I am glad you are finding ways which work for you to keep you going.
I had to laugh re: your comment on routines! Very understandable.
It is awful – I don’t even know what one is any more.
I used to live in the US, and we still have friends there, so I often read the news to see what Trump is up to. He is such a dreadful human being, but I find that reading about his latest goings on takes my mind off bad news closer to home. There are a couple of American late night talk shows, such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that make fun of trump, and they are very entertaining.
Sometimes it can definitely help to see that we aren’t just the only country going a bit mad. I might have to check out The Late Show.
Yes, I find it definitely helps to watch a humorous show highlighting some of the ridiculous goings-on. Much less depressing than the news and you still stay well informed.
Nothing like having a good old belly laugh at times they can really help you.
OMG your ghost pup earrings are super cute and I definitely need them for Halloween, also it is nice to connect with family far and near and wonderful that you did that
They are adorable aren’t they – I have to admit I think I might never take them off lol.
I’ve been really exhausted over the last few days myself. I’ve got so much going on and trying to catch up on a lot, that it gets very overwhelming sometimes. On a good note I’m excited it’s October as I love Halloween. I love those earrings of yours too. They’re cute!
I hope you have an amazing halloween! I keep falling asleep on the sofa this week it isn’t good lol.
I READ a news source and only once a week on Sundays. I have to keep away from it or I fixate on it.
It makes sense to do that – I think it really helps – I normally get someone else to tell me the big stories.
I had to go to the BMV to get a new license plate and was surprised that they were helping people outside. Not sure how that will work in winter but I thought it was great that they were taking it seriously.
Oh gosh that’s going to be cold for people if they keep it up in winter – it is great they are finding ways for things to work better.
Thanks for this post and checking in on your readers. Life is ok here. Trying to avoid the news.
I think so many people are – it is a must for mental health at times.
Those ghost pup earrings are super cute. Hope the bathroom revamp is pain free, I hated having ours done as it took longer than we thought it would
They are adorable – so far it is going so much easier than I thought it would – the people doing it are so considerate, the place is a mess and dust is everywhere but what can you do about that.
I’ve been trying to not watch the news here, but it’s so hard to avoid. I’ve been just trying to focus on anything positive.
It is everywhere, isn’t it? You log onto social media and news, it even pops up on your phone lol.
I think it’s important to focus on upcoming events and focus on the positive. We are planning for our little Halloween party at home which we normally wouldn’t have as we go out trick or treating usually so my children are excited about that. I’m also wanting to make a Christmas cake x
I hope you have a lovely little party, I definitely feel like we all need to think about the more positive things don’t we and try and remember the good moments we do have even if it’s just something that bought a smile that day.
I love the earrings they are fab . Hopefully things will not get to bad over Christmas
They are awesome aren’t they – little ghosty doggos!
Things are getting worse over here and I am afraid that soon we will enter a new lockdown. I hope it won’t happen!
I keep thinking the same – I really hope we don’t have to go back into lockdown.
Nothing has changed so much since the lockdown, I’m trying to be updated sometimes with the covid19 news. But it really just makes paranoid most of the time.
It is strange how it really can affect how your feeling at times.
No big change in my routine here, I have been fairly cautious and will be even more cautious now that numbers are rising in the county I live in and the town next to mine. My priority remains the health of my kids and my mom.
Oh gosh I hope you say safe, I am so sorry things are rising around you at the moment.
Those ghost pup earrings are the cutest! We are ready to celebrate Halloween and try and feel some sort of normalcy.
They are adorable aren’t they – I hope you have an amazing time celebrating Halloween!
I try not to watch the news at this point.
So understandable it is horrid to watch at the moment I think.
Nothing is really different over here except everyone wears masks and most businesses want you to wear one when you come in. Other than that, almost everything is opened again.
That’s good that you are finding everything is pretty much as it was – hopefully cases are low for you too.
Time flies so fast. I’m avoiding to watch news too coz it doesn’t bring good to my mental health. I’m trying to do new things and discovering my new skills, talents while on lockdown.
It is awful for mental health at times I think – definitely good to know when to switch it off.
We are all wide open here in NH for the most part, never really shut down like other areas. Probasbly because we are very rural up here, lots of space between everyone. I know our cities got hit a little harder, but mostly the nursing homes. So far, I have been living my regular life. Being cautious to not get sick when I have to go out and trying to pause a bit more to enjoy my family and find my new creative outlets.
That’s awesome so many places have done really well with it – and others not so it’s weird.
I adore those earrings – they are super cute and perfect for this time of year! This week has been a bit of a weird one hasn’t it?
They are so cute, aren’t they! I know what is going on with this week?
Watching the news is draining. I like to watch the weather as it is sweater weather now.
It really is, isn’t it? There doesn’t seem to be anything positive this year at all.
I’ve been working for so long from home, life really hasn’t changed that much. Our children are on their own. Things are much better now that out state has gone into phase 3.
I can imagine for some it isn’t much different and I think for those they probably have the best deal lol.
Those earrings are cute! I need to clean our bathrooms. They are looking rather frightening at the moment.
They are adorable, aren’t they! Ekk! good luck with cleaning.
The pup ghost earrings are beyond cute! It is awesome that you decided to support a small business.
I feel you about the routine thing- there are times where I stick to one 100% and things go smoothly, but sometimes, well, things are all over the place.
It’s so hard, I got up today and then fell asleep on the sofa again, I mean at least I guess I tried haha.
I have so much going on I am not watching any news if I can help it. I hope the works are not too bad and you soon have everything back as it should with a shiny new wet room x
It really makes things worse at times doesn’t it reading the news.
I’m just trying not to,watch any news,as it starts my catastrophizing off,i’m just planning for Halloween and xmas x
I hope you have a good time planning, I’ve just put Hocus Pocus on to watch.
