October 20 – Life in a Lockdown #29
So here we are, after a week of one again confusing news perhaps. A new three-tier system will be in place across England (Wales, Scotland and NI have their own rules which are on the on whole a lot better).
We are in a tier 1 area at the moment, which is medium risk. We have the rule of 6 and establishments closing at 10 going on. Tear 2 is high risk and tear 3 very high risk, with different rulesets in each. I won’t pretend I understand it all as to be honest I’m still avoiding the news on the whole.
I’m feeling pretty glad the work on the bathroom was done before things started really picking up again.
Actually, a few people asked about the bathroom and what a wetroom was, these aren’t the best photos – I took them to send to my parents the afternoon it was done but hopefully it gives you some idea. There is a sink in there as well, but it’s to the left of the shower hidden behind the door.

On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 28 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
If I took everything in probably very badly. I’ve been skipping the news on the whole and just taking in the main events as needed.
I am really struggling with the idea of things getting worse and worried about how my mental health will cope. My parents are worried about the same from a couple of conversations we have had. I guess as it is less unknown this time I know what is coming and that makes me lament on it more.
This week was the last of my DBT therapy course, I hope in the long run it will help, at the moment I’m struggling to remember to use the techniques when things get a bit crazy. I did get confirmation however that I will start the Bipolar education course in a couple of weeks.
For me doing these things over the computer is working so I decided to keep at it while I was feeling positive about them and able.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Catching up on sleep. I say that a lot and I absolutely hate the amount of time I spend in bed, it makes me very sad. I spend more time there than up and about and it feels like I am missing out on a lot due to that.
However thanks to my ME it is something I have to do.
It was Ash’s birthday at the weekend, so we had takeout and I got him a cake and some presents. With everything going on we couldn’t see his family, which was sad. Normally we at least meet up for a meal.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
As I said a bit above this is something that really worries me. The government seems to be still going for herd immunity overall and that scares me. Bar my mental health I was pretty healthy when I got swine flu and it changed my life.
I feel like so many are going to get over COVID but never be the same and by going for herd immunity via infection this is risking everyone.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
It might be the basis behind the blog but there’s never a bad time to remind anyone to enjoy the little things.
Spotting a friend at a distance, meeting up outside, sitting watching the world go by. The little things get you through.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I bought this a while back but it arrived this week so it counts right?
This was another Facebook Market Place buy and this time came from Pink Giraffe Paper, Paint & Clay (Etsy Affiliate). She does lots of amazing things in all different medias, but one of them just happened to be the outline of your pet in clay.
So of course, I had to have Sal done.

She was amazing in sorting it out like the picture I ask for. As it may have caused a few issues, such as delicate legs. However, I think the outcome is absolutely stunning!
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
I’ve honestly been playing with a lot of fidget toys. I’ve always had to have something in my hands and my go-to was my phone, which isn’t exactly social.
So I’ve been trying out different ones, I’m still yet to find the perfect one, but I have a range of them which I go between when I’m anxious and in need of something for my hands.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
Does everyone know I’m adopted? I feel like I’ve not really spoken about that much to be honest. Perhaps it’s something I should more. I feel a lot of my mental health issues have a base in my adoption and have spiralled with other issues and damaged thought processes over the years.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Chocolate and tea…
That’s basically what I’ve lived on.

I am trying so hard to focus on the positives but it is definitely hard with everything that’s going on. I love posts like these that encourage us to be grateful and optimistic even in times of stress!
It is really hard, isn’t it? I am trying my best to think of the good things but it seems to be getting harder by the day.
I am avoiding the news at the moment, with the exception of the roundup which a blogger over at The Brick Castle does on Facebook on week nights. It’s the facts with a little reassurance and I am finding that is about as much as I can handle right now.
I read The Brick Castles updates I mentioned them in a couple of my early posts. That’s pretty much all I do every now and again to be honest.
What a great post and so needed. I agree, I’m trying to limit my news exposure as much as possible and focus on uplighting and positive things.
It’s hard isn’t it – the news is just all so horrid at the moment, where’s the good news!
I have been feeling better recently. all lockdowns have gotten far less strict so some normalcy is returning to my life.
That’s good I am glad you are in an area where things are getting better 🙂
I feel this virus situation would get worse before it begins to get better ,Am I pessimistic maybe! Put I feel if we all pull together we can make it possible to met our families for Christmas. I was grateful that everyone has to wear masks in shops etc As I feel saver shopping now.
I am the same, I hope we are both being pessimistic as I would love to be proved wrong!
This covid is really starting to worry me now, as there have been quite a few cases around the streets I live on. But the schools are not shutting down and my kids are at 3 different schools. I just want us all to stay home and celebrate Christmas for longer
I’m so sorry things are picking up around you. I hope things start to calm down sorry. I just want to be locked up with family.
I think, the longer a full lockdown is put off, the more likely it is going to happen over Christmas and make things much harder for everyone.
Definitely, Christmas can be such a hard time for people and putting us on lockdown over that time is going to cause its own issues.
We are in tier 2 and I think we are just used to it now. I think Christmas will be different this year but we just go with the flow and keep busy with crafts, reading, walks x
I am glad you are managing to get on with and find you are used to it now 🙂
I love that clay bauble with Sal on it, so sweet!
It is gorgeous isn’t it – I love having little reminders of her around.
Oh Sarah! I’m so sorry to hear you’re having a horrid week. 🙁 I would say that I hope things pick up, but I know that isn’t particularly helpful to hear. Please make sure you’re taking good care of yourself .
Thank you, I’m trying haha, I need to get my face masks out again and have a pamper day – but so exhausted right now lol. I hope all is OK with you?
I have completely lost track of what we are allowed and not allowed to do now, they keep changing the guidance so often
It is so hard isn’t it – it seems to be constantly changing as well which doesn’t help.
Such a lovely buy from from Pink Giraffe Paper, Paint & Clay! You always manage to find cute and interest stuff to share every week. Agree about finding the little things to enjoy in life everyday
I am awful for buying little bits and pieces, they all have a special place though.
I have stopped watching the news too as it makes me angry that people cannot follow the rules, especially in areas that have high levels
It is silly isn’t it, I can’t get the mentality of people who don’t follow the rules as surely you would do it to protect others if not yourself.
Great to hear that you were able to work on your bathroom before things picked up again.
Thank you I think we were really lucky with the timing of it to be honest.
I have been avoiding the news and the live conference things too, I feel they are too full of hate and anger which I get but it just makes me more anxious. I am just catching the super important bits here and there, and trying to keep me and the kids as safe as I can. Your wetroom looks fantastic too btw, so glad it is finished for you! x
I don’t blame you at all it’s just such an anxiety-inducing world out there right now isn’t it?
Sending you love, I too am struggling with the possibility of things getting worse (we are also in a tier 1 area). I love the little clay Sal, what a lovely memento.
Thank you – it’s hard isn’t it? I’m not sure how we are hanging on in tier 1, to be honest. It’s so cute, isn’t it?
I completely get where you are coming from with the worry, as the news on tv is just doom and gloom and stresses me out too xx
It’s so hard isn’t it – there isn’t much out there to feel positive about right now.
I can’t watch/read the news either. Some days I let myself browse articles for like 5 minutes but that’s it. It’s just all so dang negative!
It’s so hard isn’t it – the world just feels like it’s all falling apart.
I barely watch the news, too! I am so worried in everything that is happening right now. Hope you and your family are well.
Thank you and you as well. It’s such a horrid world out there right now isn’t it?
Here we are again and it doesn’t seem to get any better . I also get fed up of the news . I wish it could be something happy . . 8 months of lockdown and it started with 3weeks really don’t think much of our government . I hope your ok and nothing like tea and chocolates . You enjoy them x
Thank you I definitely am haha! It’s awful isn’t it – places are managing to keep it so under control and it’s just so out of control here.
Enjoying and appreciating the little things is definitely crucial in times of crisis. Hope you’re doing ok – teas and chocolates sound like the way to go!
Definitely, we should hold an online tea party or something I think.
Things are getting worse here too! But I am grateful so many things, beautiful things that happened during this lockdown and that happen every day!
I am so glad you have so many happy and lovely things to hold onto.
I don’t want to sound like a copy cat,but teas and chocolates made me happy too,not just for the last week’s but for the whole year.. lolz
they are good aren’t they something about them always makes me feel happy.
A wet room looks very interesting. Glad to hear more about what’s going on in your world right now. I am doing fine over here. Been baking a lot of apple stuff since we picked 62lbs of apples.
Oh wow I have to admit I love apple pies and all sorts at this time for year.
There are worse things to live on than chocolate, right ;-).
Numbers are rising again here. I am grateful my boys have their health, but I also wish my youngest understood why he can’t do his sports right now.
There has got to be, right?! I hope you all manage to stay safe and well over there.
It is a good idea avoiding the news at the moment, considering what is going on. It is a difficult time for many of us, but some people are more affected than others. From what I have gathered by your great posts, you have done really well thus far and long may it continue. Just continue with your coffee and chocolate and you can’t go wrong. 🙂
Apologies, I meant tea.
I’m trying to.. It’s such a hard time, I guess as I am housebound a lot I have a foot forward, but I miss seeing my family and friends so much.
No matter what happens during the week I think I will always be grateful for chocolate and tea, my two favourite things.
Haha they are the best aren’t they – Ash thinks I’m strange as I will dunk galaxy in my tea.
Life in a Lockdown and now up to #29 I can not believe it has lasted this long. I am coping and hoping we do not have a bad second wave.
It’s crazy isn’t it over half the year gone. We are doing bad over here, I think the second wave is starting.
I don’t watch the news at all anymore either. There’s just too much negativity. It’s scary enough just living daily life without the added “noise.”
It is hard isn’t it – everything seems like it going down the drain.
Thank you for showing what a wetroom was! I get it now!
I’ll check out that Etsy store for sure. I shop there often. I need to start picking out Christmas gifts.
No problem there was a few of you who asked and it’s one of those things, when you know it you just assume everyone else does.
Ohh do she has some lovely bits.
I have to admit I am like you and try to avoid the news at the moment I find it all too scary and it does scare me. I can think of worse things than tea and chocolate to live on c
It’s so hard isn’t it – I just see somethings and that’s enough and I’m like nope turn it off, get it away lol.
Good article
