November 3 – Life in a Lockdown #31
So what a week.
Halfway through we find out we are moving up a tier to tier 2 at 00:01 on Saturday, which to be honest doesn’t really make a difference to us. We aren’t going out much, we are bubbled with my parents, which gives Ash a break from his caring duties.
Then, THEN Friday hits and there’s a leak from the government. Another lockdown is coming for England. (For anyone not in the UK, England, Scotland, Wales and NI are all following different rules depending on their local government).
It looks like they have realised herd immunity doesn’t work and if we don’t do something the NHS will be overwhelmed very soon. (My opinion please don’t quote me).
So old BoJo had to bring forward his speech to Saturday at 4pm, no wait 5, no sorry wrong again 6:30 (he was still late actually starting nearer 7pm) and I’m sure it had nothing to do with the football or Rugby.
From Thursday we will be back on a sort of lockdown. If you can work from home you work from home, all non-essential shops closed (again), restaurants and pubs closed unless they can offer takeaway / delivery. So much like before I hear you say.. Well not quite. The schools and universities are staying open..
You know those places where they say most infections are coming from.
The idea is after 4 weeks they can bring different places out of lockdown at different times, I believe depending on the local rate.
We won’t speak about how government furlough ended on the 31st, so lots of people have been laid off, just as the government announced another lockdown and that government-assisted furlough would in fact continue.
So with that update out the way, let’s get on with the post.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 31 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Screaming, tearing my hair out.. ALL OF THAT.
I’ve not hugged my parents since March. (It may ever have been February as we started being safer and joked about giving elbow bumps).
The summer is my better time of year mentally. Starting around the end of October and coming to a head in the early quarter of the next year I really struggle.
I honestly don’t know how I will cope over the coming months, however, I also know that what we are doing is necessary.
Oh my CPN is leaving to.. That will be fun..
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Not much, it was 7 days of feeling like all day was filled with doing blog work but I don’t feel like I actually did much during that time.
That said I think I probably slept a lot more, I’ve now set 1001 alarms to try and get me out of bed. It might sound silly but I can so easily go into this dream-like state where I’m telling myself this story where everything is sunshine and roses. While it is nice while I’m there, I can be with Sal or Ash and the world is OK. I also know it’s my mental health and that isn’t good. Don’t think I’ve ever admitted I do that before so hey welcome to another weird part of me.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
Sadness, that I won’t get to see family this Christmas, both mine and Ash’s.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
I actually thought of something the other day and I’ve forgotten what it was now – perhaps next week I’ll remember.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Check out my new Christmas decorations!

These are from another Kickstarter I backed, this time from Catherine Redgate.
I am absolutely in LOVE with them – they are so cute. The bungalow is so small we don’t have room for a tree, so I normally take down some items and put up some Christmas decorations on the wall instead, so these will look beautiful.
If you want to get your hands on these, they are on sale now the Kickstarter has ended over on Catherine Redgate’s Etsy (affiliate).
Also, I have no words (or at least none that show how much it means) for this:

I love entering competitions, in fact that’s why I started running them on here. Last week I entered one which asked me to follow @HouseofDenna, I quickly saw she did commissions and had to get in touch.
After sending over Sal’s old Instagram she came back with a doodle of one of my favourite photos, it was at this point I knew it was meant to be.
The finished necklace is just beautiful, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Please do check out her website: House of Denna.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Did you see my Dad’s reply to my answer to this in the comments last week..
YES, I GET MY SARCASM FROM YOU DAD!
Also writing these, honestly I find it therapeutic. Not sure if I’ve given that answer yet, but so far writing this post alone I have cried and smiled, so it works.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
People have issues understanding me a lot because I either speak really quickly due to my anxiety or I struggle with what words are, and stumble / stutter a bit thanks to my ME. One reason I don’t make videos / audio.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
The wetroom, like hellooo shower, when I’m not feeling 101%, I had forgotten what being clean on demand felt like.

Sorry to read you were struggling, It has been a really difficult year for a lot of people spending so long in lockdowns
Love the Christmas decorations! I’m really bad as haven’t started christmas shopping yet!
I’m feeling OK about the big Christmas gifts but I’m missing the shopping trips for stocking fillers and meeting up with friends.
It is strange isn’t it – I wonder how it will all work out in the end – we have decided not to swap gifts with some family members.
Sorry to hear you are struggling, I am still hoping Christmas will be OK, but it is not looking likely. Love the Christmas decorations
It’s so hard isn’t it – I don’t think Christmas will be like normal at all.
Those decorations are so cute, I am trying to do as much of my Christmas shopping from small businesses as I can as I feel this year it is more important than ever.
I am feeling strangely relieved by the lockdown and I hope it is enough to bring things under control.
Definitely, I totally agree – I’m going to try and do the same, though we aren’t buying for so many people this year.
Oh that little Sally necklace is so adorable, what a great artist. It’s so tough at the moment, I have thankfully seen my dad a few times, but I do miss being able to freely see family. I miss my Grandpa so much, he turns 98 next week!
It is adorable isn’t it – it means so much to me as well. It is horrid being away from family isn’t it. I just want to give all mine a hug.
The Christmas decor look so cute. This year is very tough for all of us but we need to keep going to fight but it’s okay to take a break if you need it.
It is adorable, isn’t it? Something a bit different I thought.
I have been picking up new hobbies to help me get through this. We all need a break.
That is awesome it is amazing all the different things people have been trying.
We’ve been expecting a new lockdown as the local tiers were clearly not working. However, I think because teenagers are still in education, the lockdown will probably not work, and I suspect they will have to introduce much more stringent measures.
Yeah, I have a feeling it will go down the same route, I can understand wanting to keep kids in a routine and school, but I don’t think it will work with this as let’s be honest schools are the worst for getting people ill.
Such a tough time for everyone right now, but lockdown needs to happen in my opinion. I hope it’ll work out this time.
Fingers crossed, it was inevitable it would happen, but I do worry for my mental health.
These are not easy times for sure! We expecting lockdown again every day. Things are not going well here too.
I’m so sorry things are bad over there as well – I hope things start to get better for you.
I personally think we need this lockdown although it definitely frustrates me! I’m not happy about how it’s all been handled, however your Christmas decs look lovely!
It is definitely needed I just have to hope it helps bring things down and does its job.
I just love your Christmas decorations. I can’t wait to finish putting out mines.
I hope you have a great time putting up your decorations when the time comes.
I’m loving all the Christmas decor. It’s my favorite time of year to decorate too. Lockdown has been so tough on all of us. I just hope things start to look up soon.
There is nothing quite like a good Christmas decoration is there.
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year and I love all the decorations. Lockdown is so hard but hopefully, things get better soon!
I hope you manage to have an amazing Christmas despite lockdown.
I kind of saw this coming and wa starting to worry that if they didn’t do it now it would end up being done over the Christmas period, therefore, ruining a special family time. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
Yeah, it was definitely always going to happen, I have a feeling we could still see Christmas under some sort of restrictions, to be honest.
It was obviously going to get worse at Christmas and winter weather lockdown was expected i am just thankful that the school is open
Definitely, I think it is going to be until Spring comes around now isn’t it.
I’ve been christmas shopping, but not sure when we’ll decorate. We could all certainly use the joy though. I’m on the struggle bus this morning. Take care!
It’s so hard, isn’t it? I think those of us who are vulnerable face so many more challenges and people don’t realise the stress that it puts you under. I have secondary cancer – it’s in my spine and pelvis amongst other places and I find it hard to walk far. My dad also has prostate cancer and is waiting for a hip replacement. I have to do his shopping because there is nobody else to do it but the stress it puts on me is unbelievable. as you know, you can’t have vulnerable people from different households in the same bubble but he absolutely will not listen to that. I feel it’s only a matter of time before I catch it because of how often I have to go out. Oh well, these things are sent to try us.
It’s horrid – I just want to be able to hug my Mum most of the time. It’s something so simple yet just can’t do it. I guess it will be a story to tell in years to come.
It’s like the Nightmare before Christmas! We watched Boris while tucking into our Halloween food, after a really long wait for him to come onto the telly! We’ve down in the South and the National Lockdown is for the best, but is definitely hard just before Christmas, especially for retail and small businesses.
It is crazy isn’t it – what is he going to do with us all next, while still carrying on as normal himself.
We are in tier 1 from Thursday with it getting had again just got used to doing a bit more but at least I can still see my grandson . Up and down with anxiety disorder but fighting . Have to say thank you for the competitions as they keep my mind occupied and that helps . Love those Christmas decorations they are lovely . Stay safe x
I’m glad you are able to do a bit more and see your grandson. It is so hard with anxiety, isn’t it? I feel like my chest is being eaten away at, at times.
Your Christmas decorations are lovely. I think lockdown helps people to not get infected by the virus. Just a little sacrifice for our family or loved ones. This will soon be over, for now let’s get busy with some other things and spend the most of our time with our family.
They are really nice aren’t they – something a bit different.
Imagining people who lost their jobs makes me feel sad.
It is horrid isn’t it – people have been through so much this year.
Its sad to hear everyone’s losses or the things people are missing out on this year due to the lock down. I think because we have no family in the uk and i’m always home anyway, it’s not much different to me but for everyone else Christmas is going to be tough. I hope all goes well and you have a lovely nov/dec.
I think for some has worked out OK, for many, it is very hard though to try and work out how to get through each day.
Your Christmas decorations are so cute! I am ready to start decorating for the holidays.
Aww yay – I’ve seen some people who have put out decorations already and it’s actually lovely to see.
I love those Christmas decorations! Very cute indeed.
They are adorable aren’t they something a bit different.
We have been in tier 3 for a few weeks and I am so worried about the impact it is having on my autistic son, he doesn’t cope well with all this uncertainty and I feel I can’t do anything to help him
Oh gosh I am so sorry, I hope things go OK for you all with the new lockdown.
What a week! I am so glad we headed to see Steve’s parents before this happened because I don’t think we will be seeing them again this side of New Year!
It is crazy, isn’t it? I am so glad you got down to see them!
That necklace is just beautiful! I know how much you love and miss Sal, so this is probably extra special. It is discouraging that so many places have to go into another lockdown (or stay in it) but hopefully, it will help keep people safe!
I went out to the doctor’s and the pharmacy yesterday, it was the first time I have gone anywhere (besides a walk) in months.
Thank you – it means so much, she was such a special pup and I think I will never fully get over her loss. It is nice to have little memories of her around though, that means so much to me.
It is crazy – I hope it helps though and people try their best with it as we need to look after everyone.
I like your Christmas decorations. I can’t wait to bring mine out. I usually do after Thanksgiving. But I have started Christmas shopping.
Ohh good luck with bringing out your Christmas decorations – I’ve already bought some new ones but they aren’t up yet.
I pesonally think we need the lockdown, something needs to happen to get the numbers to drop. I did go and see my granddaughter yesterday and had cuddles with her I needed it and needed to see her. Plus she gave my daughter her birthday present and card huge smiles on her face and then took them off her to draw in. I am sad as I have a new granddaughter being born next Monday and will have to wait for my newborn Nanny cuddles.
Aww, that is such a shame I am so sorry that you are going to have to wait for your cuddles after your grandchild is born.
