November 24 – Life in a Lockdown #34
I’ve not really read much news in the last 7 days, so not much to update on.
There, of course, has been more talk about vaccines and it might be ready to be given soon. I watched an interesting TikTok of someone explaining how this one has been created so quickly compared to others. I wish I had saved it to share, alas I forgot. The main points were money and lots of people being involved and no waiting. Apparently normally a lot of waiting while nothing happens goes on, through lack of money and lack of peers to review.
Anyway, I found it really interesting.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 33 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Fatigue is my biggest issue at the moment, I am spending the time utter exhausted. I have so much I need to do, but no energy to do it.
I’ve been trying to do things slowly, but even just a little seems to wipe me out for the following days.
I guess the fact I’m constantly anxious doesn’t help. That has to be using up most of my energy.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Not much at all. We downloaded some old film sets to watch through which has been nice considering my brain is working at a snail’s pace.
We’ve always been watching I’m a Celeb, definitely different seeing it in a castle in Wales, rather than in Australia. So far I’m loving Mo and Jordan.
Not sure if it’s just me, but it seems they are throwing in trials they would normally keep until later on, like the 3-way eating challenge, near to the start.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
I’m hoping that the vaccine helps, that it helps the world become a bit more normal.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
People are kind, people do look out for each other when times are bad – sometimes we do forget the kindness that others can show us.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
As we’ve not been to the shops since everything kicked off I’ve not made it to my favourite Bespoke Lichfield since the week before we went into lockdown. Yes it has been that long since I went into a non-essential shop (we have been to the pharmacy and popped into the co-op once or twice, when we were in a real bind but that’s it).

One of the lovely ladies from the shop does amazing fox creations and Ash collects them. I saw the bats and dolphin and fell in love.
They come from Elegance Art and she was kind enough to drop them off to us.
Bespoke also have an online marking coming on Friday and I can’t wait (it’s on Facebook if you want to check it out too)!
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Sometimes listening to some music – loud, quiet, whatever genre you LOVE can help you tune the world out for a while.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
I collect pins, at the moment I have 5 banners full of the on the wall and I am part way through another.
I think that’s one of the reasons I did a pin of Sal at one point.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Somewhere comfortable and relaxing for bad days. I was reminded of the issues we had in past homes at the weekend, so this is definitely something that makes me grateful.

Been watching I’m a Celebrity, been alright I do miss the Australian Jungle though.
Looking forward to the football grounds reopening after lockdown on Wednesday, managed to get a ticket..
Yeah, it is definitely different, not 100% sure what to think of it but it’s been entertaining in lockdown.
Enjoy the football!
We all have different ways to cope. I keep myself busy with work, my kids, and writing.
Definitely, it is great so many people are managing to cope with it.
This is a good set of questions for living in a pandemic. What a year it has been!
It is been crazy hasn’t it – I hope we don’t have to go through it all again.
Fatigue and anxiety are my biggest two problems. I think the lack of routine which usually helps me just messes up my head! My anxiety has been ridiculous throughout all of this.
It is crazy how hard people have been hit with anxiety through it all. I’ve had people come to me who have never experienced anxiety before asking how to deal with it.
We are looking for 2021 and hoping that it will be a better year! I can’t wait for Christmas!
Definitely – I hope the same that 2021 will be a much better year for everyone.
I also haven’t read or watched the news lately as it just gets me depressed. But i do hope we get a vaccine soon. It’s hard to cope with the anxiety knowing something will not end anytime soon 🙁 But i’m still hopeful. Stay safe!
I’ve heard some people say next spring and some say next month so it will be interesting to see what happens!
I’ve been enjoying I’m a Celeb too, it always seems to make me laugh!
It is good isn’t it – though I hate the eating and drinking trials can’t stand people gagging lol.
Fatigue :- yes. Though wondering if perhaps this time of the year is a factor. With it being dark at an earlier hour :- Melatonin.
Peace and Quiet is what I would like. It seems that there has been so much fuss about Christmas. Some even discussing and deciding to put up Christmas tree early. Why?
Christmas Day will be on 25 th December this year. As it is every year. How we spend the day may be a bit different from how some would have planned / aimed for / wanted. We are enduring the Coronavirus/ covid 19 Pandemic presently. Coronavirus / covid 19 Pandemic Regulations in place :- Aimed at Protecting the public from acquiring this viral infection.
Some people can be alone at Christmas. When they would really like some company. Goodwill to all. Compassion, consideration, caring, kindness, etc at Christmas Time, and all through the year would be nice! Best Wishes to all for the Festive Season.
I am sure this time of year has an impact on some people – for me it is more just my health though.
I really struggle with fatigue as well, some days I just don’t have the energy to barely move and even though I get a full nights sleep I find my eyelids so heavy in the day
It is hard isn’t it – it’s like your whole body is being weighed down at times and it’s so different from just being tired.
The vaccine news is great, it can’t come soon enough. We are going to a funeral tomorrow for my brother-in-law, who died of Covid a couple of days ago. We have to drive to my MIL’s house, where a pandit (priest) will say prayers in the front garden, while the coffin sits in a hearse parked on the driveway. (Normally the ceremony is conducted indoors with the priest walking around the body while he recites, but that can’t happen due to coronavirus restrictions). We all have to stay in our cars. We then follow the hearse to the crematorium a short drive away, where again we have to stay in our cars, only the “bubble” of 6 people are allowed to enter the building. We will wait in our cars until the people in the “bubble” exit the crematorium, then we will wave to everyone and come home again. My husband is especially upset because he won’t be able to hug his mum, or our sister-in-law, or anyone else. Strange times.
Oh gosh I am so so sorry to read about your brother in law – that is absolutely horrid. The fact family can’t comfort each other either at such a time is just heartbreaking.
The funeral turned out to be both distressing and odd at the same time. Firstly we went to my MIL’s house in Nottingham. There were only 30 guests allowed to attend. We stood across the road from MIL’s house in socially-distanced groups, then a hearse arrived with the coffin. They opened the back door of the hearse and then the pandit (priest) said various prayers while standing in the front garden. Then we all got back in our cars and followed the hearse to the crematorium. Only my MIL, SIL (wife of deceased BIL), their son, his wife and their 2 daughters were allowed in the crematorium building. The rest of us stood in the car park. The crematorium piped the religious music from inside the chapel, and also had a live TV feed on monitors outside. There was also a live link you could watch on your phone. We watched as the “family bubble members” each went up to the coffin. Then the curtains closed and it was over. The funeral directors and the crematorium had done a great job trying to ensure that we could all attend and see and hear everything, but the fact that we could not hug anyone or even get within 2 metres was pretty distressing. My husband was distraught seeing his mum so upset and not being able to hug her.
And to think there are conspiracy theorists who still don’t accept this is real. They should be forced to watch these miserable funerals on a loop.
Oh gosh, that sounds absolutely heartbreaking – what a nightmare at the moment for anyone who is having to go through such a horrific time and have to deal with funerals like that as well.
I’m really enjoying I’m A Celeb at the moment, it’s cheering me up every evening!
It is fun to watch, isn’t it. It honestly feels like a bit of normality in this crazy world too.
I am loving I’m a celebrity as well as strictly. I hope Jordan wins, I love him on the radio and he is brilliant on TV too
I have to admit I don’t really listen to the radio might have to turn in after.
Such a fun series, I always like getting a peek at people’s lives especially during this time where we don’t get to interact with others. I can definitely relate to feeling fatigued, I’m hoping it’ll get better when I get some time off from work <3
It seems to be something a lot of people are struggling with this year, which is interesting I feel.
I definitely feel like we are all feeling a little
Bit like that . Hopefully next week everything will feel a little bit better
Fingers crossed things start to get better soon for everyone.
I hope things get better. I’m sorry to hear that you feel exhausted and fatigued. This pandemic really makes a big hit to everyone. I’m praying the vaccine cures the people with virus.
Definitely – I do hope it all works out well with the vaccine I have to admit.
Life in a lockdown hasn’t been too bad lately. My friend and I have decided to be quarantine buddies so life feels somewhat normal.
Aww that is good – I am glad you have got yourself a nice bubble going on.
I have felt quite low but now i’m back on the competition sites I am feeling better a real community of compers and bloggers out there. My motto is ‘Keep calm and carry on comping’
Good luck with your comping I hope you win some amazing prizes!
I feel ya on the feeling tired part. It just seems like things keep piling up. But I hope there is light at a very long tunnel. I am very thankful for my family at a time like this.
Definitely. Hopefully, 2021 will bring a better year for so many of us.
I didn’t know you collected pins. You must have loads if you’ve filled up 5 banners with them. I don’t collect anything anymore, I know, I’m boring lol.
I probably do have a few too many – I had another pin arrive today as well.
I think lots of us are fatigued at the moment with all that’s going on. My anxiety is up but having my eldest daughter with cancer – which is cured thankfully and then my younger daughter son in law and 6 year old grandson with coronavirus has taken its toll. I’m only just out of isolation having had contact but I’ve started getting the physical symptoms of anxiety . I know they’ll go away but the y are scary . Keeping my mind occupied entering competitions and do I g some craft work helps . I do hope the vaccine will work . I’d go for it if it’s safe enough and gives us back some normality x
It must be so hard having all of that going on and just not being able to do much as we are all lockdown down. I am glad you family are getting better however and the fact your daughter is in remission is amazing.
No you have to pay for a covid vaccine I thought they would be free like the flu
Oh no, where did you hear that? I assumed they would be free as well?
We said exactly the same about the eating challenge, that was well early! We really like Jordan too – he’s adorable!
It’s really strange, isn’t it? I can’t work out quite what they are doing with it this year. In fact, I’m not sure they know.
So sorry to hear you’ve been so fatigued, it’s so tough. Sending love and strength your way!
Thank you so much. I could definitely do with some energy sent this way.
It’s understandable that you are having a fatigue right now, with a lot of things that is going on.
It’s so hard isn’t it – I think we are all living a bit in overdrive.
Love that you do this series. I am sure you have helped many people through something none of us could have predicted.
I hope so, it has definitely helped me with getting things out each week about how I’m feeling.
I’m so sorry to read that you’ve been fatigue. I hope you feel better.
Thank you so much 🙂
I am actually in a study for one of the vaccines and the doctor running it says he thinks that it will be available starting as early as next month!! Fingers crossed!
Oh wow that is incredible – thank you so much for taking part in the study as well! Without people like you we wouldn’t have got this far.
It’s the first year we’ve watched I’m a Celeb properly and Jordan is awesome! Poor sod. Usually we just flick through the highlights and read about it. Interesting about the vaccines and it’s amazing how quickly something can happen when you throw money at it!
Jordan is amazing I just want to go and give him a hug when he’s struggling. However, I think he’s grown in strength already with the trials he’s faced.
I”m actually feeling better than I have in a while. Business has picked up some, and our refinance went through, so a ton of pressure is finally off.
I am so glad things are feeling better for you, that is amazing!
I’ve been following I’m a Celeb get me out of here and find it entertaining as well and on a brighter note, hoping the vaccines will bring some normality to life and travels abroad. I just hope they don’t rush it and that it is safe. Hope you feel better and energised this week
It’s nice to watch something which is a bit more normal isn’t it? Thank you I’m hoping my energy levels pick up as well.
Hikes and long walks have been my favorite ways to clear my mind, get in some exercise and just suck up the beauty of nature. Fresh air is such great medicine after being cooped in the house. I’m amazed at how many hobbies I’ve enjoyed over the past months as well. We are living in some crazy times but I try to focus on positive moments to help get through!
I bet it is so nice to get out and just walk. It is amazing what being out in fresh air can do for you.
I have just started collecting pins. I would love to see a photo of your pin collection.
I’ll try and get some pictures of it and share it – it’s rather large now.
I also hope the vaccine works. I have my fingers crossed. I’m ready for things to get normal as well. I have trips planned next summer.
Definitely, I would love to just have some normality in my life one day soon.
Aww so sorry to read that you’ve been so fatigued. Anxiety can be so draining! I really hope this vaccine helps, it goes to show how fragile our lives and freedom are.
It really does – I can’t imagine having had to deal with the Spanish flu or any of the other times its happened before where they’ve not had so many ways to stay connected.
I think there is something in the air, my daughter is very fatigued at the moment as well. I am also loving I’m a celeb but findng it weird beng in a castle and not Australia
It is really strange isn’t it – but I quite like the change. Definitely, interesting to see something a bit different.
I think I saw the same TikTok, and also forgot to save it. It was really interesting though and shows how powerful Scientific development can be when people are properly funded and collaborate.
Definitely! I wish I had saved it but at the time I just watched it and didn’t think about wanting to see it again. Must be better at saving them.
I lose myself in a book when it all gets too much! Just an hour spent roaming around Tudor England does wonders.
I bet it does, I used to do the same but just can’t quite get the same reaction with audiobooks.
