March 30 – Life in a Lockdown #52
Welcome back to a world where the “rule of 6” is back. Yes – we can meet outside (including in gardens) with up to 6 people here in the UK. Plus grass sports can start again.
I think for many a sigh of relief will come with the ability to see people and actually just sit down and have a chat.
Plus what a week for it! With the weather looking pretty OK at least for the first half of the week. It’s threatening to even hit 21 tomorrow.
Last week of course I didn’t post. I was at the hospital for my eyes and my keratoconus check-up. The good news is it is looking like the CXL treatment I had around 18 months ago has stabilised my left eye. My right eye however is past it. It’s really the best outcome I could have got.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 49 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m OK as I type this, I am liking that it is lighter until later now the clocks have changed, my sleeping pattern isn’t the best. For some reason I can’t get to sleep until late – I’ve tried all different ways to get to sleep earlier but nothing works and it has been an issue since I was very young. These days I just go with it.
I’m glad that people can now meet in the garden, I am hoping to see a few people all going well!
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
I couldn’t see well for part of it, as I can’t wear my contacts in the run-up to going to the hospital, so I did not much. The rest of the week we’ve been watching a lot of Scammer Payback on YouTube. Some of those videos as so funny.
Also, we have been rewatching Lost on Disney+.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
Rachel is my go-to about all different subjects, she wrote a post last week about sleep sprays and I definitely need to work through her list as it sounds like she has tried out some really good ones.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
It sounds really simple but once we can I want to go to one of the canal-side cafes and just have a cup of tea or a slice of cake!
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
I’ve not bought anything again – it feels like ages since I’ve shared anything so watch out as I might have to think of a few things I need and get sharing again.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Probably the fact my CXL seems to have worked, I was really worried that it wouldn’t and my left eye would continue to deteriorate so finding out it hasn’t is a big thing to me.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
Humans aren’t made to live life during a pandemic. However, following rules, looking out for others and doing your best can really help.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I’m still obsessed with this handwashing marlarky…….. I have spent my 50th and 30th wedding anniversary in lock down….. now we are coming out the other side. I hope it stays that way.
I hope it stays better it is so hard at the moment isn’t it just wondering what will happen.
Can’t believe, it been over a year since covid restrictions, I just hope we are now finally on the home stretch.
It is crazy isn’t it, who would have thought we would still be here a year later.
Crazy it’s been a year keeping everything crossed we are not going to go back
It is so strange to think – I honestly didn’t think we would still be here a year later.
It is such a good feeling knowing we can go out and enjoy the sun with others outside our household.
It really is – we definitely all need to be able to see others at times.
So pleased to hear the CXL worked out for you! I am feeling so much more positive just being able to see people! We had a lovely walk in the park with a friend yesterday and then sat in their garden enjoying the sun! It’s amazing how much being able to get out and see people can give you a boost isn’t it! xx
Thank you – I am so pleased and I’m just hoping that it means it won’t get worse. Oh that is amazing, it is so nice being able to see others isn’t it?
I couldn’t believe it has been a whole year since covid lockdowns, glad your eyes are doing much better.
It is crazy, isn’t it? I never thought we would still be like this a year on.
I am so glad and thankful things are slowly getting back to normal . Feels like we are getting there doesn’t it
It really does, I hope it just carries on now and we don’t have another wave.
Great post, I feel like we have been on an emotional rollercoaster, but at least know the end is in sight, although Covid will be with us for quite a few years.
I don’t think we will ever get rid of it – probably be a bit like flu, may even need yearly injections for it.
I am patiently waiting for shops and restaurants to open. I’ve really missed going to a cafe and restaurant. I’m also excited to be travelling in Wales soon too, and good news I’m getting the jab in about a week
Aww that is awesome – I hope you enjoy the time you can getting out and about more.
I am so excited that I can see family in the garden again and we had some great weather didnt we. The only way is up now hopefully!
It is crazy how nice the weather was for a few days, of course now it is cold again as always.
We are going to rewatch Lost at some point but we are currently working our way through Scrubs! It is one of our favourite tv shows.
Scrubs is great, though the first few series are the best, later ones not so much.
i cant believe it’s been a year already! hopefully, the end is in sight now, i cant wait to go to a cafe too!
It will be so nice to just have a coffee or meal somewhere different.
That’s so good that the CXL has worked it must be such a relief. Like you I’m so happy that the mornings and evenings are lighter as it makes such a difference x
Definitely, I hope it helps long term, it’s a relatively new procedure so not much is known about it in that way.
Like you I am so happy the clocks changed, longer days are coming and summer is inching forward. Couple more weeks and I should get my vaccine! So ready!
Definitely makes a difference when the evenings start getting longer, makes you feel better I always think.
I’m so glad things are getting back to.normal my children are back in school which is most important to me
That is good – I am glad that things are feeling better for you.
I looked back on the very first life in a lockdown post, none of us knew a year later we would still be here. I am loving the lighter evenings and the sunnier weather and like you can not wait to get out and have a coffee and cake
It is crazy isn’t it – I can’t believe it has been going on for so long, I never expected this at all.
The sun is shining, Easter around the corner, things are looking better already, not long to wait now!
Hopefully, things will really start getting better for us all now.
I hope you get to see a few friends and family soon. We’re looking forward to meeting with others too. It will be nice to sit and have drinks or a meal in the garden and catch up.
Hopefully you will get to see friend and family soon! I think it will up lift people a lot.
Hard to believe it’s been a whole year already. With the vaccine rollout being as successful as it is, things are looking positive. 🙂
I am hoping it all goes well and we don’t get hit with another wave with things reopening.
