Life in a Lockdown #9
This week sees a huge change in the UK, some kids are going back to school, a select amount of shops are starting to open back up.
I’ll admit it feels scary. However, it also feels hopeful and more than anything I hope it goes OK.
I must start of course, with saying a huge thank you to my co-host Bex at Futures for being with me each week as we talk about the lockdown and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea! She’s not only a wonderful host but a good friend as well.
A few people still ask us each week how to take part, well it is simple! We ask that you give both Bex and I a shout out in your post, then you will find the questions below to quickly copy and paste. After that just pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can pop over and read what you have been up to!
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?
8) Anything else?

So what did week 9 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Honestly, I’m scared but optimistic. I realise that relaxing of lockdown could go wrong, but I hope with all my heart it won’t.
We have arranged to go and see my parents and that makes my heart happy. OK we won’t be allowed inside, we won’t be able to go near them and it will be a really strange experience due to that.
However, it will be nice just to sit outside and have a conversation.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
Honestly the same as before.
Though I have tried starting to update older posts. You might notice posts popping up randomly on my blog such as my Great British Teddies review or Games Quest review.
These were originally published years ago and had a competition attached. I’ve been trying to turn such posts into something viewable today, rather than unviewed competitions.
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
We haven’t done anything bar stay at home really for the past week. It’s been too hot, my body can’t deal with the heat at all. Just a few minutes in the sun and I feel pretty ill.
Which in some ways helps at the moment, as I can just pretend I’m home because of the weather.
4) What advice do you have for others?
With the changes coming in do what you feel is right. I don’t think right now there are any right or wrong moves.
If you want to follow the government guidelines that’s fine. If you would rather isolate as much as possible still that is totally a valid choice as well.
None of us really know what the right thing to do is, we can only follow what we think is best.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
This week I’ve had a couple of things arrive. I do love a good sub box and this is one from Agni Prasada Burning. The price changes from month to month and sometimes she will offer different sizes.

This is a mini box and the theme was Lockdown Sunshine, the mini was £25 and there was a mega at £45 too!
I originally found out about Agni Prasada Burning at a local handmade craft shop and she’s been someone I love buying things from for myself and others. Each of her boxes always has at least one guest in it as well – this one has two with the card and glass rainbow.
Next up is this awesome makeup bag from Little Red. This was via a market night on Facebook, I think it was The Artisan Market (but she also does The Alternative Market Night too).

I absolutely love this bag, I was blown away at how well it was made (it is lovely and padded). I can see me buying more from Little Red, both for myself and friends.
It will be fun to see what I catch from her in future market nights!
6) How has your routine been this week?
It’s been pretty up and down, to be honest, there are some days when I’ve managed to be up 9-10am and other days when I look at my phone and think how can it be 3-4pm and I’ve just woken up.
I really wish my fatigue let me have a more regular routine.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
Bar going to see my parents this coming week (keeping social distancing and not going into their home in mind) nothing yet.
I have to admit I am a bit uneasy about how quickly we are coming out of lockdown and will be making sure Ash and I stay as safe as possible for a while to come.
8) Anything else.
The world is a crazy and scary place right now for a number of reasons. I send love to everyone and hope one day we can all be more united, rather than divided.

It is strange isn’t it – people seem to be living like normal at times, while others are still very worried.
Being able to see people now in the garden will be a huge boost mentally, obviously with keeping social distance, just been trying to follow the advice. But am glad we can start seeing people again, obviously keeping metres apart, but better than behind a computer screen.
Oh definitely I think just having interaction with different people can make a world of difference to how you feel.
The items you got in the subscription box are pretty cute. Love the flower thing
I have to admit I love her boxes, they are always so different.
I know the rules have been relaxed and both myself and my husband went to see our daughter and my 6 year old grandson and distanced in the garden it was lovely to see him but he was so wanting hugs . They don’t quite understand at this age and to be honest I really have been tempted to break them and squish him . I will be so glad when this is all over. It is affecting me mentally and emotionally and I have GAD . Just having to do the best I can. I hope you are coping I can relate to the sleeping. I do love the guinea pig bag it’s very cute x
That must be so hard – I saw my parents and I know I found it hard not hugging them so I can’t imagine what it is like for kids who just can’t understand.
I need to take your lead and start updating some old posts too. There is so much I need to do, that is the problem with having a blog that is now 12 years old. Mich x
Mines coming on 10 now and has so much rubbish on it which I think does hold it back.
It does feel strange to relax the rules when nothing has changed. We are staying home for now!
Exactly – I really hope it goes OK but I worry might have in the next few weeks too.
This makeup bag from Little Red is so nice, I love the color and the design is so cute
It is gorgeous isn’t it – I still haven’t decided 100% how to use it, I might use it as my medication bag lol.
This such a great series! I am sure it makes you feel better when you share and as a reader I know I am not alone facing this. Unlike you I have enjoyed the heat but glad that it has rained a little today. Hopefully seeing your parents will make you feel better although it will be strange not giving them a hug.
Definitely it is nice to get those feelings out once a week and I’m sure in years to come it will be interesting to look back on I’m sure.
I think things are happening too quickly and that we may well suffer for it soon-sorry to be a miserable old g@t.
No not at all – I’ve spoken to neighbours who feel the same and we are pretty much stay as is, bar visiting my parents where we sat in the garden and they stayed in the dining room.
Been trying to avoid watching the news. It just upsets me and causes more worry. I terribly miss my grandson. I can only do video calls with him. The last time we were together was March 16! I hope this crisis would be over soon. And if there was a way…. can we start 2020 all over again without all these bad things?
It is hard isn’t it – I really don’t know what to think my heart thinks this is all too soon, but I would love to be back to normal too.
I totally understand the fatigue through my Daughter. We seem to be more level with her waking times now but she can be found to be sleeping during the day/evening. I am so glad you have arranged to see your parents even if it is social distancing.
It is going to be nice – they are normally such a huge part of my support network it has been so hard to get used to them not being around.
We’re in Australia and the government reduced the restrictions here a few weeks ago. It’s been rejuvenating just to be able to spend some time out in the sun and get some fresh air without feeling like you’re doing something wrong. Life is different with hand sanitiser the norm, and no more hugs and kisses to greet friends but life has found a way.
Aww that is amazing you have done a lot better over there than us on keeping it contained I think however.
A great idea to update older posts. I am looking forward to being able to meet for coffee or lunch with friends or wandering around a garden centre or large homeware store by myself. Just normal things. Normal is ok.
It would be lovely, won’t it? I don’t want to start doing it too soon though and will be so worried when I first start going back to normal I am sure.
A little bit more positive this week for you, but I’m the same, still quite anxious at how things are progressing and weather its too soon or not. Oh enjoy seeing your parents! It will be hard not to hug them but it should give you a huge boost. I love that handbag! Keep doing what you are doing. Your doing great x
Definitely I hope so much it all works out but I do worry it won’t.
It’s beautiful to read about how others are doing during the lockdown. I am afraid too right now, and I hope the opening will go well.
It is hard isn’t it – what should we do, what’s the right thing to do?
That guinea pig bag is adorable! We have four guinea pigs in our house and my girls would love that bag.
Aww piggies are just the most awesome pets so much fun to have around.
As of today, it’s day 79 on my end. A bit tense at times and over-thinking about the work status.
Oh gosh, it’s been a while, hasn’t it 🙁
It’s hard to believe we are on week 9 already. But it’s great that you have been using your creativity to keep yourself occupied. I have always believed that art has no rules and that the only limit is your imagination.
I know this year is flying by – I do wonder what the rest of it will hold for us.
I am scared but also optimistic. I am feeling more positive than I have been but still feeling a little cautious.
Definitely – I’m hoping things go OK but also expecting a second wave.
I live in New Jersey – one of the more harder hit areas and things are starting to open here. I feel this pandemic was sensationalized.
Lockdown has been a bit of a blur to me. I’ve worked on the frontline all the way through so life hasn’t been all that different, outside of work that is 😉
Oh gosh bless you and thank you for everything you have done.
Aw, I love your makeup bag. We have two guinea pigs, so I might have to pick one up.
I’ve been a little scared as well. The world is a crazy place.
Thank you – I miss our piggies they are such fun to have around aren’t they?
Personally, I’m so worried. Things in my state (Indiana) are starting to open again, and I’m scared for Wave 2. Fingers crossed people take necessary precautions and don’t act like morons.
I hope people don’t as well – I think it could go OK if people just act correctly.
Thanks for the update. Trying to be optimistic as well.
It is all we can do isn’t it?
what lovely handmade items! love the butterfly
They are so pretty aren’t they?
