Lazy Day Essentials
Everyone has those days where leaving the house just isn’t an option. Whether you’re stuck inside due to disastrous weather, a nasty cold or an overwhelming desire to honour your inner sloth, lazy days are an underrated necessity in our exceedingly busy lives.
In order to take advantage of this precious downtime, you need to make sure you’re prepared for maximum comfort and minimal effort. Here is a guide to your lazy day essentials. Put your phone on silent, don’t check your email and indulge in pure relaxation.
Set the scene
The first order of business for any day of relaxation is picking your spot. Choose somewhere comfy, preferably TV adjacent, with plenty of room for spreading out. The sofa is always a solid choice – and if you want to up your game, opt for one that reclines, like this one from Fishpools reclining sofa range.
Or, if you are feeling extra lazy, just stay in bed. Upgrade your boudoir with a memory foam mattress – ideal for luxurious sleep and Netflix sprees. Other options include a bean bag chair, a hammock (for summer lounging) or a favourite armchair. Add throws and pillows as needed.
Pick the outfit
Once you’ve settled on where you’re going to while away the hours, you need the perfect outfit. The ultimate in loungewear is – for obvious reasons – the onesie.
The onesie has been making somewhat of a comeback and is now available in many different colours/animals. Made of incredibly snuggly material and only requiring one zip, it is the solution for those who need a fuss-free lazy day uniform. However, if you are looking for more neutral loungewear (in case you need to answer the door or take out the rubbish or walk the dog), Next have some lovely options – take a look for yourself.
Order up
An essential accessory for any lazy day in is a delicious meal brought right to your doorstep. Everyone deserves to treat themselves to a takeaway, and nowadays there are so many apps and sites to satisfy your cravings. Try Deliveroo, which delivers from both local and chain restaurants in just half an hour. Just pop in your postcode, choose your meal and your delivery time and pay online. In case you can’t find what you’re looking for, check out Just Eat or Hungryhouse.
Press play
Now that you’re cosied up with your food, it’s time for entertainment. No lazy day would be complete without a few (or twenty) episodes of your favourite series. If you don’t already have it, you should consider getting Chromecast – stream your shows straight from your phone/tablet on your TV.
Everyone deserves a break: we need these tiny staycations to stay sane, recharge our batteries and decompress from our everyday stresses. So put up your feet, gather your lazy day essentials and ignore your emails for a while.

I love days like this although they are very rare. However I just so happened to have one on Sunday as I was poorly. I stayed in my pj’s all day, caught up with tv programs, read the papers and my book….pure luxury!
I had a brilliantly lazy day on Saturday, complete with onesie! I’ve escaped from home for a few weeks to catsit a friend’s cats, who are never in!
Lazy days are the best! I love the onesies, might have to invest in one 🙂
A wild Winter night, the rain pouring down, a real log or peat fire, a steaming mug of Heinz tomato soup, some old B&W movies, the new kitten curled up on my boobs and I’m in heaven!
Oh I love snuggly days at home – the kids get heir duvets down, we have snacks and watch a good film – Disney are favourite! Kaz x
