Kenneth Turner Candles: Masquerade Review
I am a huge candle fan, as some of you may know. I love having one burning in the evening, especially in the colder months, and I adore trying new brands. Now, while I had heard of Kenneth Turner as a brand, their range of scented candles had completely passed me by for some reason. I only recently came across them and was lucky enough to be surprised with one to try for myself.
Kenneth Turner home fragrance
Kenneth Turner offers a wonderful home fragrance range and sells different scents as tea lights, pillar candles and tapered candles. They also have the most beautiful range of vase candles. I have to admit I have never seen anything quite like them before. They are poured wax candles that come in beautiful glass vases.
I asked them to surprise me with a candle of their choice. I am one of those people who often pick the same scent all the time, so I thought it was a wonderful excuse not only to try a new candle but a new fragrance. I can tell you I was so surprised and excited when this beauty arrived.
Masquerade Candle
The picture above is the Kenneth Turner Masquerade Candle in a Posy Vase. The theme behind the scent is that of a masked winter ball. The fragrance includes a mix of black rose, black pepper, dark cassis, ginger, myrrh, patchouli and amber, all of which offer up the most interesting, sophisticated fragrance I have smelt in a long time.
The posy vase comes in a beautiful rainbow of colours. I found it really hard to fully pick up how beautiful it looks in real life on camera, as the colours look slightly different from every angle. At the front of the vase, you will see the letters K and T, and it has a delicate charm around the base. The charm is engraved with the name of the candle, as well as the brand.
Here are some facts about the candle. The posy vase holds 200g of wax and has a 100% cotton wick. It is said to offer up to 50 hours of burn time and is made in the UK.
I have yet to burn this candle down completely, but when you have finished the candle, you can keep the vase and reuse it as a tea light holder or small vase. All you need to do is wash and wipe it out to remove any remaining residue, and it is good to go. I love this from a sustainability point of view, and because it’s so pretty, it would be a shame to throw it away.
Scent review
Once lit, this candle lets off the most wonderful scent, which fills the entire room. I find it almost too hard to describe, and I keep taking deep breaths, hoping I can describe it better for you. You can definitely smell the rose, ginger and myrrh, which gives it quite a deep scent with a surprisingly light floral edge. Most definitely a fragrance that you have to smell to completely understand.

This candle looks lovely but I had a large Kenneth Turner candle which literally exploded when the wicks burnt down.
It burst into flames and shattered glass everywhere. I was running towards it with the aim of blowing out the large flames when it exploded. Another few seconds and it would have exploded into my face and eyes.
I contacted Kenneth Turner and sent them photos. They told me it was my own fault as I shouldn’t let the candle burn down to the wick which I thought was a dreadful response because no candle should become an explosive device when it burns down to the wick !
I was very surprised at their attitude as I always regarded Kenneth Turner as a quality brand. They wouldn’t give me a refund but they sent me a small replacement candle.
I won’t be using their candles again !
