Olverum Bath Oil Travel Set: Review
I recently got to try out the Olverum Bath Oil Travel Set. I love warm baths, or perhaps that should be I loved baths, with decreased mobility there are few and far between. In the old flat I took to adding bath bombs and oils to the bath and I would sit on the bath board swirling my feet in them so I could relive the old days somewhat.
That said there are times when you go away and you are faced with a large bath, that even I can get in and out of and it is times like that, that on a good day I take the chance to lay back and relax in the bath.
Just before we went away to Hawkchurch Resort & Spa, I received an amazing parcel which contained an Olverum Bath Oil Travel Set, which is not only perfect for travel, but I think would make a lovely Christmas present for those who love bath oils.
If you haven’t heard of Olverum before, let me tell you about them. Olverum has a rich history, dating back to 1929, when a winery owner and his wife visited their favourite spa, only to find they no longer stocked their house blend. This ignited a passion in the pair and using their talents, the pursued the perfect blend of therapeutic oils.
Two years later in 1931, they had come about an oil that contained natural restorative and therapeutic qualities. However, due to the scares nature of the ingredients involved, they made just 7 litres, which was given to friends and family that Christmas.
As the reputation of this oil grew, the family could barely keep up with the amount people wanted, but sadly the outbreak out of the war put a stop to the production and it wasn’t until 1948 with demand still high, production was restarted.
With the Klein’s son now dedicated to bringing his parents, treasured elixir back to the masses. He brought in the name Olverum meaning “true oil” for us when it was exported and for many years this product was shared by word of mouth. However, now it out there and known and with 8 decades already behind it, I think this a cult product we will all have at home soon.
The Olverum Travel Set contains 3 15ml bottles which is enough for 9 baths. You should see as Olverum is a highly concentrated oil, you only need 5ml for each bath and as it is designed to soak into your sink, it should also leave no greasy residue in your bath. Simply disperse the oil into your bath.
The scent behind this oil is wonderful, it’s a unique and luxurious aromatic blend of essential oils which combine with natural plant extracts. When it hits you, this formulation seems to have an effect of clearing your mind and allow you to breath better. I won’t lie the scent is strong, it is powerful, but it isn’t overpowering. I can only liken it to walking into a sauna, where there’s this wonderful, all-encompassing fragrance, which is just perfect for the situation.
It doesn’t stop there though, as once you settle in the bath you can feel it helping relieve the tension of the day, relaxing tired and aching muscles and joints and just leaving you feeling so much more human. It helps to ease stress and relax tension in both mind and body, promoting a restorative sleep.
The oil is absorbed by the skin, leaving no greasy residue when you finish your bath.
While of course the recipe of this wonderful oil is a secret, it is know that it includes such wonderful ingredients as; Siberian fir Needle, Lavandin, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Rosemary, Lime and Juniper amongst others.
Honestly if you are a bath oil lover, or if you have been pondering on giving one a try, you do need to give this a whirl, as if your anything like me, you might just end up being very impressed.
Olverum can be brought in a number of different sizes, with the travel kit costing £16, 125ml (25 baths) costing £26, 200ml (40 baths) £40 and 250ml (50 baths) £48. It can be purchased from the official Olverum website as we well as many other reputable outlets.

I am a huge fan of baths and bath oils. I think this is a good one for me. I also think It makes a great gift. This is perfect, especially for my dry skin in the winter months
I love a bath but I never get much time, so these being small would be a perfect treat and hopefully would help keep my super dry skin soft and silky

Those bottles are so pretty and the products sound very luxurious, I will have to look into these.
This would be right up my wife’s alley!!! She loves to relax in a bath, this would be great to send with her on trips when she travels for work.
I bet a foot bath would be lovely with these oils and any part that need really good hydration. My mummy loves the thought of bath oils but not the cleaning the bath afterwards… 😉

It’s so hard isn’t it not having the ability to just have a bath anytime you want – I was lucky at the old flat as we had an over bath shower, but I had a bath board fitted to sit on, so I would run a shallow bath with a bath bomb or bath oil in and just sit with my feet in it while I showered. I’m not sure what they are going to do with the bathroom here (still waiting for an OT to come out and check and had to hand everything back when we moved, which I think is silly as surely they could have just changed our address on the loan forms anyway totally off topic there sorry).
I can definitely see me using this in a foot bath long term as the smell helps on it’s own in some ways. x

So… I’ve never done bath oils. Do you come out all… Slick? Or is it just a moisturising effect? Or is it just to scent it? I feel a bit uneducated now! I do love a well-scented bath though!
This one doesn’t leave an oily film some do but this one doesn’t as it’s soaks into your skin leaving it feeling very pampered and the smell it amazing, it’s really an all round oil. x
