June 8 – Life in a Lockdown #62
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster week. For the first time since the pandemic started, we had 0 daily deaths one day. However, this has been followed by a daily uptick in reported cases.
I guess the rise was to be expected with places opening and the delta variant becoming the dominant strain here in the UK. It is said to be 40% more transmittable after all.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 62 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m doing OK honestly we really aren’t doing much different to when everything was in full swing. I still haven’t been able to have my second vaccination. Haven’t been very well and as such we are just carrying on as was.
I’ve had some news that “the worst-case” in my health isn’t so! Which has lightened the load a little. We always thought it wasn’t, but having a professional say it isn’t, just helps reinforce that knowledge.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Ash’s parents popped in on Tuesday last week, which was really nice as it has been over a year since we had seen them.
I was at the hospital for tests 2 days and Ash had his yearly diabetic eye check-up.
It’s all left me a bit exhausted, but the good news from the appointments made it worthwhile.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I normally try and include someones else’s post but today I’m going to go for one of mine and this account of my time in hospital.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
Nothing else planned yet – I would love to go and sit by the canal again and just let things pass by a little. Allow myself to feel a bit of normality going on.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
Being stuck in for a year has made me realise how little I can really get out and about. My normal is being at home as I can’t walk far. So something I have been looking into is getting an electric wheelchair.
For me I don’t want a scooter, that just isn’t quite right. I also have a manual wheelchair, which I can’t move myself unless it’s in circles. Plus I don’t want to rely on others all the time.
However, I will need to do some saving and / or crowd funding before that dream becomes a reality.
One thing I did do lately was buy some sticks from Cool Crutches and here they are.

Now you might be wondering why I got a set when I can only use my right-hand side.. Well, I accidentally ordered a left-hand stick the first time and as they are personalised, it wasn’t really something I could ask them to exchange.
So now I have a beautiful pair, and if my left side ever starts working again well I have one ready.

Cool Crutches, do a range of both sticks and crutches which can be bought in premade designs and make your own.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Good news from the hospital. Although I would still like to know what was going on?! Sometimes having a good answer to one thing, just opens up different questions without answers.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
Listen to the scientists, they know what they are talking about.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I have doubts about these vaccines and still not convince about it’s effectivity.
I really hope they help although I am still staying safe.
Hope you get your second jab soon , I’m off for my first one tomorrow . I love your crutches , so cute!!!! Will definitely stand out 🙂
Thank you – good luck with your first jab I hope it all goes OK!
Things are getting better here too. It’s nice to see how some thing are turning to normal!
Definitely, I am hoping we will really see a difference when it comes to it this time and it will get better.
I find simple things to be more challenging during the lockdown. Traveling from my house to the office and then back again is a huge challenge for me.
It is strange isn’t it – I couldn’t imagine having to rely on public transport in particular for such things during this time.
This year is indeed devastating. I hope everyone is doing just fine, I hope the best for you!
Thank you so much it really has been quite a year hasn’t it.
I’ve seen a lot of people talk about getting scooters recently, but I do hope you find what is best for you and have a better week next week.
Thank you – I don’t think a scooter would work for me, definitely have to be a wheelchair I think.
I have concerns about the case rises yet again . I have had my first vaccination but more concerns for my children who can’t get vaccinated
Hopefully in time children will be able to have it as well, I know one here has just been OK’d for over 12 year olds I think pfizer.
Great article! I hope you can get your second vaccination soon. Always keep safe.
Thank you – I’m hoping I can as well – I keep getting texts to book it and I’m like I can’t!
Great to hear about the great news from doctors. I’m so sorry to hear about the rise in cases.
Thank you – it is a shame cases are going up again isn’t it.
I find it so interesting how Covid has affected each one of us. Here’s hoping you get your second shot soon.
Thank you – I’m guessing it will be towards the end of the month or I hope it will.
I’m glad that you got some good news from the doctors! I love that you can get personalized crutches and walking sticks. Years ago I had to use a cane for a few months, and I hated how ugly it was. I was teaching second grade and really wanted that was a bit happier looking! My sister offered to paint it for me, and I regret not taking her up on it.
Oh that would have been fun having someone paint it. I love that they are making things more fun to have.
This past year has been different for sure. Things are settling down here so life is getting back to normal. I visited a restaurant inside for the first time in over a year
Oh wow, what was it like? Hands up I am still to scared to do that.
As we see a decline in cases here, I can’t help but which for all of the other countries to see the same!
I am so glad you are seeing a decline in cases. Ours are going up as we are coming out of lockdown (again) so its inevitable I hope it just doesn’t go too high.
The crutches look like a great way to get around. I was able to get both my jabs. My daughter, who is 14, is up next!
I hope it all goes well for her – are they giving them out to young people over there now already?
I’ve been grateful for my job still being around. I’m self employed, and there was a protracted period where I wasn’t sure if I would be employed much longer.
It’s so hard isn’t it – work has definitely been something that has caused a lot of people issues.
It sounds like a lot has been going on in your life. I hope you’ll be able to get your second dose soon.
Hopefully you get to have your second jab soon! I have been okay since my first one – just a little tired and my arm ached for a few days, xx
Ohh that’s not bad at all – hopefully you will find it the same for the second one as well.
