June 29 – Life in a Lockdown #65
So it’s been a bit of a week. The health secretary resigned and let’s be honest there were some amazing memes made all about that situation which popped up very quickly after on Twitter.
We’ve heard the news that lockdown easing again probably won’t happen before 19th of July. After some people would have liked to have seen it brought forward.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

So what did week 65 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I’m feeling pretty tired at the moment, I had my second vaccine last week and while I managed to sleep after, it seems to have had the opposite effect and made me very tired this time.
We are keeping a close eye on how I react this time as it was very up in the air about if my hospital admission could have been related to the jab in any way. So far I’m doing good though so I shall stay positive.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
As well as having my jab we saw some of Ash’s family which was really nice. Most of them we haven’t seen in well over a year now.
Obviously, I also spoke to the haematologist, they are still keeping an eye on me for now and seeing what the next couple of months bring. If all goes OK I should be discharged with more of a wait and see.
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
I’ve been watching all the animals this week so it has to be Mason’s Cavies over on TikTok this week. I love watching all the wiggies, I really miss having pets around myself.
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
Nothing new – honestly I know the world is opening up. I know so many people are embracing it but I really struggle with the idea. I can’t go out that much anyway, so it’s not as though I’m missing a whole load just staying inside.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.
I really like wax melts at the moment and I decided to try out a one-off subscription box from The Northumberland Candle Company, as I thought they looked fun and the scents sounded different.

These are one-off boxes and you know what you will get before you buy. This one came in at £13.50, however, the price seems to slightly differ each month.
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
The NHS and them looking after my health and of course offering vaccines. I think we are so lucky to have free at point of access to healthcare.
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
It is hard to know if you are doing the right thing. Should you stay at home, should you go out? What is the right thing to do and when? And of course, the answer depends on you, there is no right answer.
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

How has life been treating you?

Always grateful to have the NHS, and you really appreciate even more look at the health system in other countries.
Definitely, I’m in some groups about some of my health conditions and the amount people play in the US for things I get free at the point of access is crazy!
Love wax melts, I’ve been seeing a lot of the gel melts with glitter inside – so pretty. I totally agree we are so fortunate to have access to free healthcare. When things open up, it’s all about our own discretion, but I can see people being reckless x
I have some of the gel ones not tried them yet though – I have a pile to get through. Definitely I feel a bit sad seeing so many people just going on as normal and wish I had the guts at times.
I am honestly kinda struggling with the idea of everything opening back up again too. I think we will wait for a little bit to see how things go as I am too worried yet.
Yeah I’m still thinking me might end up with another big wave, especially when winter comes around again.
Honestly it’s not until you leave the UK that you realize just how good the NHS is! Trust me here in the USA you pay through the nose for healthcare, it’s ridiculous! Hope you continue to feel good after your second jab!
Thank you so much I’m keeping my fingers crossed. We are so lucky with the NHS.
My husband suffered really badly with his first vaccine and suffered with his second as well, just listen to your body and sleep. It is lovely that you got to see family who you haven’t seen for a long time
Oh gosh – it is so strange how it affects people differently, it’s a mean vaccine for sure.
Fingers crossed everything continues to go okay after your vaccine, I know how tough the decision was regarding this one. x
Thank you so much! I just hope I picked the right choice!
I’m getting into wax melts too. The robot themed box is different. I bet they smelt wonderful. I’m staying home and rarely venturing out. Nothing new to before this all happened really.
They smell amazing – not tried them all yet but so far so good with the ones we have.
I have my second jab next month, it terrifies me to be honest, I have a friend that continuously posts up all these horror stories from the vaccine… I sometimes think I should just take a social media break but then I wouldn’t be able to enter comps and read social media blog posts
It is so hard isn’t it – people really do like sharing all the bad things, just remember it’s your choice and to do what is right for you.
