January 5 – Life in a Lockdown #40
We skipped a week sorry! I think we all needed a bit of a week off over Christmas. I have to admit I’ve struggled as the heating drys my eyes out and dry eyes = fuzzy eyes so it’s been nice to know have to try and add to that issue with time on the computer.
However, can’t keep us down forever.
Of course, for those in England you know how things are. Highest rates, all of England now back in a lockdown much like the March one with schools closed. However early years can stay open. Oh and we are now officially out of the transition period of leaving the EU and are official “free”, or as is the reality more restricted.
So welcome to 2021 where lockdown is still a thing, covids more catching and England has got its dream of being free from the EU (whatever that means).
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 40 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
So we are now back in complete lockdown from today. It’s been a really strange feeling the last week as even the local coffee shop has closed to takeaway as people have moaned that people were lingering and gossiping outside.
We’ve been listed as a covid hot spot so over the weekend a lot of people who didn’t display symptoms were asked to go and get tested. I think it’s to try and help towards understanding the spread via those who are asymptomatic and of course see how many people actually are.
Right now I feel lonely, I feel isolated and I feel like crying.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Eating, eating and more eating. Not sure how I haven’t pooped yet.
My eyes have been playing up a lot so I took a week of downtime, it has not really helped them but hey.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
Honestly, I’m trying to live day to day at the moment. I don’t really know how else to cope.
I know I’m a long way down the list with vaccines so for now, life seems like it won’t change for a long time.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
Right now I don’t know – I just want this all to be over with, guess I’m throwing myself a pity party this week! Woo!
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Nothing of late – I’ve been good, it has been Christmas. I did buy a few things with some Christmas money which I might pop up once they have arrived though.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Can someone remind me of ones I’ve used before – I’ve gone into self destruct and forgotten everything.
I was entering competitions before Christmas, I found that I could do that quite mindlessly and it helped keep me distracted.
I even won some New Year biscuits which I tried decorating.

7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
I’m probably known as a dog lover, what with having had Sal for so many years. However, I actually grew up with a cat! My parents took in a stray called Puss before I was born and she lived till I was 15, then at 17 I took in a stray who we called Poppy.
(Just to say both times owners were looked for).
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
My hot water bottle – how cold has it been?!

It has been a crazy start to the year, your blog pretty much summed up how a lot of people have been feeling! I guess on the positive atleast you have had your first vaccine now & it won’t be much longer until we’re out of lockdown 🙂
I hope so – I have my fingers crossed it will work this time with us coming out of lockdown.
I think even though I knew it was coming and knew we kind of knew the drill for lockdown, I am still processing and adjusting to it and it has felt harder this time round. I wish I had a way of helping people but I feel a bit helpless myself. I am also a lover of hot water bottles. I cart one round the house with me most days to keep warm.
Such a strange time, isn’t it?
It is weird isn’t it – I can’t get my head around it, I can’t remember a time before lockdown now, but also still can’t get used to it. A very strange head space.
Gosh it really is a struggle, my daughter is home from uni and she has mental health problems, my son is furloughed and its just getting harder, i wake up in the morning wondering how soon i can go back to bed. Hopefully there won’t be too much longer of this
Oh gosh I am so sorry – I know what you mean about just wanting to go back to bed I feel the same to be honest.
Great read, thanks. Happy New Year!
life in a lockdown has taught us a lot of things and one of that is helping us realize the importance of family. many hobbies and talents also emerge , all for the betterment of us.
Definitely, it has been very hard on so many people with the complete change of life.
I am so sad to read this but sending you all the positive vibes. Hopefully things will be better soon.
Thank you so much that means a lot.
Who would have thought we’d reach Life In Lockdown #40? I really hope 2021 brings things back to normal.
I know it is crazy isn’t it – I have a feeling we will definitely hit a year.
I applied for the online course, hoping my kids would be in school from January. Now after lockdown, I am trying to manage things and not sure how my course would go 🙂
Ots been a tough first week of home schooling but In hoping we will soon get into a good routine
I hope things get easier for you as the weeks go on – I can’t imagine what it is like for kids.
Oh no I hope you manage to find a way to fit it all in.
Boy taking it day by day seems to be the only way to deal with all of this. Those biscuits look super good! Hope you had an amazing Holiday season.
It was nice to see family over it for sure. In fact, I seemed to cope with it a little better than normal this year somehow.
sending everyone a big hug who needs one! agree with most who say this lockdown feels tougher, maybe because it is winter and many suffer with S.A.D.S. or maybe the longer it goes on, it just whittles us down, all the little things we take for granted have been so missed. Like many my mental health is suffering, it has never been this bad, when the law says I cannot see my grandchildren, it is like asking me not to breathe, that is how hard it is for me, I need to see them to give my life purpose and a reason for living, since my daughter died they are the one thing that gets me through each day, a reason to carry on, a reason to get up out of bed – to take that away from me is unbearable. Let’s hope the vaccines roll out quickly and a semi normal life can resume.
I think it’s a mix of everything, the time of year, the fact we are just all fatigued from battling this for so long. Hopefully, they can roll it out and we can get some semblance of normality going on soon.
I’ve gone into 2021 with toothache which isn’t a very good start, surely it can only get better after everybody’s struggles last year, hopefully things will start improving for us all.
Oh no toothache is the worst isn’t it? I find it so hard to deal with. I hope ou can get some help with it.
It has been a crazy year. I figured that this winter would be a tough one, and I not surprised about there being lockdowns. Hang in there!
Definitely, it hasn’t surprised me – I saw it coming which at least I guess is something.
I have been eating a ton as well. Also, I have no idea when I can get a vaccine. Probably a long time since I’m low on the list as well. But when I can, I’ll get it!
Hopefully, it won’t be too long until we can all access vaccines. I am low down the list as well.
Well I think I’ve just had enough of everything now it’s not good for our mental health being locked down fully . I’ve forgotten what the outside world is like and miss lots of things I used to do. I do think Boris Johnson is a very silly man and should have done this at this time last year. I think we might have all been better off if he’d done it earier. I saw this coming here when it started in China he did say he would let it herd through the Country. I think he is and has been incompetent ! I really don’t know what they can do now only get everyone vaccinated . My anxiety is through the roof but guess I’m not the only one.
It is so hard, I understand why we are on complete lockdown, I understand the need for it, I just don’t understand how we were left to get to this point and why action wasn’t taken sooner by the people who could.
Until this lockdown we were lucky & were still in a tier 3 area. I have a few neighbours who are struggling with lockdown. I am still working so at least I still have a routine to my day but understand how hard it must be for others.
It’s good you have managed to keep on and are feeling OK with it all going on! Hopefully, it will stay that way for you.
Lovely written as always. I have to admit, I have never felt this bad mentally before after last night’s annoucement. I know everyone is feeling the same but no end in sight is really really getting me down.
Thank you, I think it has hit people so hard this time. We were basically promised a normal Christmas only to have it all changed at the last minute, people are tired of being told one thing, only for it to be U turned only a matter of days later. It doesn’t matter if we know it’s coming (as let’s be honest most of us do), its like a smack in the face and just why didn’t you do it before?
