How to Apply Your Eye Cream Properly
OK, so you’re thinking well you just put it on right?
Well yes, but there are simple tips which can help make the most of your eye cream, as well as taking the best care of this delicate area.
The skin around our eyes is different from the skin in other places of our face. It is both thinner and more sensitive. This is why it is often the reason it is one of the areas to first show signs of ageing.
As such it is an area that many people like to pay more attention to when applying skincare and to be honest, who can blame them?

When Do You Apply Eye Cream?
If you are like me, then the first thing you wonder, when you add a new item to your skincare routine is; when should I be applying it?
Well, when it comes to eye cream you want to be applying it twice a day, as the last step of your routine.
There is only ONE exception to this rule and that is sunscreen. As when using any sort of suncream that should always be the last item applied.
Step By Step Routine
If you are still wondering by when do I? Well never fear as let’s break it down easily.
Cleanse.
The first step in any skincare routine should be cleansing.
This can be done with a single product, or with a combination. This is really up to you and how well you feel products work for you.
Personally, if I am wearing makeup I like to remove that as step 1 and follow it up with a deeper cleanse for step 2.
This helps me feel like my skin has been thoroughly cleansed.
Exfoliate or Face Mask.
Exfoliation and face masks might not be something you want to do daily within your skincare routine.
However, on the days you want to bring them into your routine, you are going to want to use them after cleansing your skin.
As of course, both products are best used on clean, cleansed skin.

Tone.
I have to admit this is probably my favourite part, as I find it quite refreshing.
The easiest way to use a toner on your skin is to add it to cotton wool and then swipe across the skin.
Of course, in this day and age with issues around waste, if you aren’t a fan of cotton wool, getting a spray toner and then using reusable pads can be another way to apply toner.
Moisturise.
Did you know it is worth putting your moisturiser on still-damp skin?
This can help lock in the moisture for longer, really helping to add to the action of your moisturiser.
Eye Cream.
Here we are last stop (bar suncream) eye cream.
It is worth remembering that when it comes to eye cream, a little goes a long way.
You are likely to only need a pea-sized amount, which is best applied by dotting under the eye, from the inner to the outer corner.
Once applied, due to the sensitive eye area, you’ll want to pat, not rub, the cream into the skin; using the best eye creams ensures gentle care and effective absorption, so keep patting until it is fully absorbed.
Where Should You Apply Eye Cream?
Interestingly although the skin around your eye area is thinner and loses moisture quicker than other areas, you shouldn’t just slather eye cream all over.
You should in fact check the directions of your eye cream, some suggest applying to the eyelids as well, while some don’t.

What Eye Cream Should You Use?
Much like where to apply your eye cream, each cream is different and are made to target different areas.
Have a think about what you want to target about your eye area. Is it dark circles, morning bags, or are you spotting those dreaded under eye wrinkles?
Once you know what you want your eye cream to help with, you will find picking the right one much easier.
So there you have some tips to help with applying and choosing the right eye cream for you. I hope they help.
Do you have a tip which I have missed out, I would love to hear it?

What a fab post, I love eye cream as I find its great for the fine lines around my eyes. I’d suggest putting it on first thought; the molecules within eyecream are smaller than moisturiser because the skin is thinner so it needs to be on first to penetrate the skin deeper xxx
It is a must isn’t it – I have to admit I didn’t know the right way to put them one until not long ago myself.

BB has been blessed with good genetics for facial wrinkles. Many a times she’s been complimented on how at 56 not a wrinkle. Of course it helps that since 31 Babushka makes sure that nightly cream goes on. At this stage dark circles are showing though, so gracias for the suggestions on the post.
