How Observant..
Have you ever wondered how observant your other half is? Would they notice if you were wearing a new lipstick or dress?
Or would it take something like you dyeing your hair bright pink for them to notice something looks slightly different about you?
I was contacted around a month to see if I fancied putting Ash to the test and see just how observant he is. The challenge I was set was putting together three tests, to see if he would notice any of the ‘different’ things I had done.
Before I get onto what I did, let me tell you about Ash and just how his sight works, as it is in fact rather curious. Let’s say I was to hide a box of his favourite sweets, just the smallest of corners peeking out from its hiding place, he would notice it very quickly.
If I was to move his stack of games under the TV around a little he would notice it. However when it comes to other things, I sometimes wonder if he would notice if I shaved my hair off and started sticking my tongue out all the time.
Challenge 1. Change of Glasses.
I guess this one is the most subtle change, they are a larger frame that has changed from a silver colour to a deep red, but overall the change isn’t overwhelming – I haven’t gone from rectangular to circle or changed from silver to pink. Ash knew I was due new glasses he just didn’t know exactly when I was going to pick them up.
I decided the best thing to do was pick him up from work wearing them, the next couple of hours, were filled with a few odd looks, when I thought he might just be working out I had something different going on. But alas as bedtime rolled around, I gave in and asked him what he thought of my new glasses.
Challenge 2. Googly Eye.
This one is my Mums fault – I was going to down the necklace route, but she thought it would be amazing to use a googly eye, so there I was last Saturday evening and I decided to stick one of those little monsters on my forehead and see what happened and to be honest I wish I had had a camera on me.
I was sat on the bed, having a bit of a read and Ash poked his head around the door took one look at me and ducked back into the hall way – before looking quickly again and exclaiming WHAT THE and walking off muttering something about me being a mad women.
Challenge 3. Footstool
The last and perhaps biggest challenge of the three was to pop this footstool in the lounge and see if he noticed that my feet suddenly had a new comfy home, one that was mine – yes mine, mine, mine!
This little beaut was sent to me by Footstools 2U and costs £119.00, it comes in a variety of leathers with a couple of different feet to choose from, (for those who don’t like leather there is also a number of cloth options available for £109.00).
The footstool itself is lovely – although it is only small it is just right for popping your feet up at any time of day (it is approximately 8 inches in height) and very well made.
So did Ash notice the new addition to the lounge? Well sadly not.
Though my Dad did and has even gone as far as to use as a seat and apparently even then it gets a huge A*.
So what have I learnt from this? Well that I need to do something really stupid like stick googly eyes on me to A. make Ash noticed and B. also scare him slightly.
I guess it’s a good job I had to buy a pack of 50 for the job. But overall I guess 1 out 3 isn’t too bad – perhaps he’s a little more observant than I thought at first.
How observant is your other half? Would they have picked up on any of these changes?

*I was provided a footstool free of charge for the purposes of this post.

How did he not notice a new foot stool :-p lol great fun post !!!
This is too funny, I really have to try this!
The googly eye really made me giggle!
Azii would notice the foot stool and probably the glasses too – He’s the most weirdly observant man I’ve ever known, THOUGH I think he’s becoming immune to me babbling random rubbish at him all the time as he doesn’t listen quite as much as he used to. I used to think he wasn’t listening to me but he’d be able to repeat it all back to me word for word… but recently I’ve caught him out a few times.
He’d notice the googly eye but not say much because he’s used to it. I couldn’t get warm the other day and my mum said I’d warm up if I put something on my head so I put the closest thing to hand on my head, which was a cushion, and Azii looked at me, looked at my friend and said ‘I’m used to it’ … yeah xxx
Sadly, my husband would notice the second I tried to put new furniture in the house, otherwise I’d love a new footstool, or any other piece of furniture really. Nice new frames, by the way.
haha I love this! I’m not sure my hubby would even notice the third eye! He lives in his own little world the majority of the time bless him! x
Mine would have probably failed the test. He hardly ever notices when I dye my hair. Though if I put on high heels, he would notice immediately. 😉
lol I don’t even get people notice crazy things, Only when I have had a wardrobe malfunction have people then noticed! :/
Mine wouldn’t have a clue lol
I’m not sure my other half would have noticed, funny post.
This is so funny…..mine would;’t have noticed a thing!
I found this so funny I think your partner is like many others , mine is the same.
Ha ha ha lol I can just imagine the reaction to the googly eye! I think my hubby would notice most things x
My x only noticed when I’d put weight on – wouldn’t mind but it wasn’t enough to notice (2 pound that’s all). No wonder he’s an x 🙁
I can’t believe he couldn’t even notice the footstool! I’m quite unobservant myself, but I would notice that!
haha my husbands terible he wouldnt notice either , im the one whos picky lol x
My husband wouldn’t notice either!
LOL well at least he wouldn’t let you do anything daft like go out with a googly eye stuck on your head without telling you.
my husband always notice cos he work from home!
Mine is very unobservant about some things, he never notices when I have my haircut for example. But he notices straight away if there’s a draft coming through the front door!
Read this post out to Steve and he loved it, he really chuckled! Can’t believe Ash didn’t notice the footstool. DOH, Ash!
My OH would have only noticed the eye and would have assumed that my son had stuck it there.
haha great challenge – no I doubt that my hubby would notice much!!
This post had me chuckling. I’m not sure my other half would have noticed the glasses, but definitely the footstool and the googly eye.
What happened when you revealed the test to him? I think my other half is quite observant and he would definitely notice a new footstool!
Ha ha! The glasses were quite subtle but would be funny if he hadn’t seen the googly eye!
What a fun challenge!
Ha ha! Brilliant! I think this is just men in general – my OH never notices anything!
This really made me lol!! Brilliant
So funny! Can just imagine you sat there with the googly eye on your head.
Mr Hubby would have noticed the eye, but probably not the other two x
That first one would be hard but I am pretty sure that my other half would know off the bat. I mean I could have my hair flipped the other way and he notices. As for the others, course. The googly eye would have made my other half laugh alot before tickling me. haha.
The glasses were a subtle change – doesn’t surprise me that he didn’t realise – it took me a couple of days to realise hubs had changed his glasses 😛 How did he not notice the footstool though?!
hahaha! I don’t think my fella would of noticed the new glasses but he would of noticed the rest….
Mine would have noticed the Google eye and the footstool (maybe not for a day or so, lol!), definitely not on the glasses if they were similar to my current ones. Wonder why men are so unobservant compared to women?
