Highlights of Singapore with Sally from Life Loving

Today I am handing over my blog to the lovely Sally from Life Loving! Who is here to talk about some of her highlights of her honeymoon to Singapore!

My blog is my way to inspire others to get out and about and enjoy life more. I live by the motto ‘ketchup tomorrow, relish today’.

The lovely Sarah has let me come over and write a guest post about one of my favourite travel destinations. We were lucky enough to spend a few days in Singapore whilst on our honeymoon.

It’s a really amazing city and works hard to bring together clean, functional city living with nature. So here are the must see and dos when visiting Singapore.

Raffles Hotel

The newly opened Raffles Hotel should be a top of your list.

Yes I know it’s touristy, but does it really matter? I went before the refurbishments were complete so I bet it’s even more amazing now.

You need to go and order a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. As you might expect, a Singapore Sling is a bit pricey at S$31 (about £17.50), but I promise you it’s not about the sweet cocktail, it’s about enjoying your drink in opulent surroundings and taking in the buzz of Raffles.

Gardens By the Bay

If you’ve ever seen pictures of the Super Trees you’ll know that they are a definite must-see when visiting Singapore.

They were created to help facilitate the flora and fauna living in the city. The Super Trees make up part of the Gardens By The Bay, but the best part I think is the trees.

There’s a 128-metre walkway amongst the top of the trees and its best to go at night as they light the trees up and there is a light and sound show. We were lucky enough to be up there as the show was going on and it was amazing to see it close up.

A real magical experience. The walkway experience is really reasonable, only S$8 (about £4.50).

Singapore Flyer

Getting up high in Singapore is the real way to see actually what Singapore looks like. The city stretches for miles and miles and it actually ranks number 12 in the world of cities with the most skyscrapers.

The Singapore Flyer is much like our London Eye – a large wheel with viewing pods. We were lucky enough to enjoy a pod to ourselves when we went – it was mid-week!

And we took in the 360-degree views which include the amazing sights across the marina.

The Singapore flyer costs S$33 for an adult (around £18.50) and S$21 for a child (around £12).

Marina Bay Sands Hotel

This was one of our true highlights. The views are incredible from the top of this hotel and we timed it so we were there just before sunset.

The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is the skyscraper with what looks like a giant surfboard plonked on the top. You can go up and take in the view from the public observation deck which costs S$23 for adults, which is around £13.

If you are feeling flush, you could book a night at the hotel and that way you can really enjoy the rooftop pool – they only let you swim in it if you are staying there.

We actually booked a table at the rooftop restaurant, Ce La Vi. Our delicious food and drink were served as we enjoyed the transition from Singapore’s day to night. It was breath-taking.

There’s a whole host of other things to see and do in Singapore.

It’s definitely a destination you could visit again and again. I hope we can go back one day and relive the magic of our honeymoon in Singapore. I’d love to know what you think about this amazing place.
