In fact, they are probably years old and if you are due an upgrade then there has never been a better time to get that done.

Sometimes a change like this can completely transform a whole room as well, so you really do need to take this into consideration when you are planning out the design and décor in your living room.

It goes without saying, but you do need to choose something that is elegant, and you also need to choose something that will stand out as well.

The best thing that you can do with your curtains is make a statement, so be adventurous.

Try and choose something that you would never have normally chosen, or even opt for curtains that have a luxurious or bold design.

When hanging your curtains, try and hang them much higher than normal.

When you do this, they will make the whole room look way better and you can also make the window appear visually wider and bigger.

Area Rugs, Flowers & Lamp Shades

Believe it or not, you don’t need to go and rip out your entire floor in order to make your home look more modern.

Instead, you can throw down a rug.

When you do this, this will make the whole space feel way more chic, cosy and comfortable.

When choosing your rug, it does help to choose something a little brighter.

This will make your home look more luxurious and it will also become a focal point in the room as well.

Whatever rug you choose, it is important that you try and choose accents that reflect it.

When you do this, you will soon see that the whole room ties in together and you would also be surprised at how much money you can save by doing this too.

Flowers are a great choice if you are not quite sure how to really bring out the true personality of a room.

If you just can’t face the upkeep involved with keeping real plants then consider looking into fake ones. If you get the right ones, you will soon see that they look as good as the real thing.

Storage Containers

Sure, you might not think that storage has a huge role to play in the look and feel of your home, but this is not the case at all.

Storage containers really are so important and you have to make sure that they match in as well.

The containers that you choose need to be uniform and they also need to have that high-end look.

If you are not quite sure how to achieve this then wicker is a fantastic way to go. Cotton baskets can look equally as good if you choose a nice light colour.

Hardware

Your home’s hardware can either make your property feel luxurious or seriously outdated.

A lot of people don’t pay much attention to their hardware and this can really lower the general appeal of your home.

You would be surprised at how much a simple hardware upgrade could boost the potential of your property, so consider replacing your cabinets, sinks, showers and even your doors.

When you do this, you can easily add a high level of luxury to your home and you can also reflect more natural light as a result as well.

When choosing your hardware, it is a good idea for you to choose silver knobs and handles.

You don’t just need to paint your walls either, you can paint your furniture, your cabinets or anything else you see fit.

You can really embark on your own DIY project when you do this and you can also incorporate some themes from the other rooms in your home as well.

Each Room is a Blank Slate

It’s a good idea for you to take a long, hard look at your home.

Think about it, what architectural details do you have?

What features are present? If you have wooden beams or even alcoves then these are all worth focusing on.

These are your expensive features, so try and make the most of them.

Other features you need to look out for include hardwood floors, mosaic backsplashes and even crown moulding.

If you want to make your home look as luxurious as possible, then you need to try and emphasise these features.

Find a way to make them the focal point of the room.

You don’t need to splash out on brand new ones or additional features, because most of the time, it is more than possible for you to exaggerate what you already have.

Towels

It’s time to throw away those old bath towels you have.

It doesn’t matter whether they are discoloured, stained with bleach or just worn out in general because they really do make your bathroom look unkept.

Consider displaying some fluffy towels, and make sure that they are ones that you can be proud of.

This will immediately trigger the feeling of luxury as soon as you enter the bathroom and your visitors will most certainly agree as well.

When you do invest in new towels, you don’t even have to use them all the time.

You can put them on display and have other towels for everyday use if you want, as long as it doesn’t look that way.

Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are a very easy way for you to seriously brighten almost any room.

It doesn’t matter whether you buy them from a known store or whether you choose to make them yourself, because if you don’t replace them every so often then they will probably make your home look tired.

If your pillows are still nice and fluffy, then consider just replacing the covers.

When you do this, you can mix and match your colours and you can also blend in different textures.

Remember that there is such thing as having too many pillows, so don’t go overboard and experiment to see what works best for you.

Artwork

It doesn’t matter whether you are mounting your own family photos or whether you are framing artwork that has been passed down through generations because you need to try and figure out where everything should be placed and even how it should be displayed.

It’s important to make sure that the artwork you have is the right size and that it is suitable for the room you are displaying it in.

You don’t need to have artwork on every single wall in order to make your home look luxurious, you just need to try and be creative.

Accent Everything

It’s always a good idea for you to accessorise every room in your house.

Consider looking in magazines to try and get some ideas.

They have plenty of budget-friendly options available and they usually fit in with almost any style of home as well.

If you are not sure if you can shop through a magazine or if you just generally don’t buy them, then shopping online is a great option and you can be sure to find a ton of deals on there too.

When shopping online, it does help to make sure that you are buying items that are going to fit in with your home because it’s very easy to impulse buy and this is especially the case when you can’t see the real thing right in front of you.

Of course, there are so many things that you can do to try and save money when accenting your home, and by following the above tips, you can be sure to really get the best result out of both your finances and your property.
