    1. I’m going to have to go and try and find you post – it is just awful isn’t it. x

  1. I too have been locked out of home few times in the past & in most cases it is going to be frustrating to wait all along without having any other choice to do. But these days I have separate keys to make sure I can take my time & plan accordingly.

  2. I’ve been locked out a lot of times and the initial (childhood) experiences were too scary for me. But if you ask me today, I won’t panic at all.

    1. I’m not sure how I would cope these days I have to admit, I would probably still manage to panic a bit. x

  3. I’ve been locked out plenty as a child. Always forgetting the key when heading to school. Now we have a keypad, much easier

  4. I’m always very good since I’ve lived in a property with a yale lock, but as children, my parents had to rush to the hospital because my Mum had cut her hand badly, and when my brothers and I got off the school bus and walked home the place was all locked up. We had no idea what was going on, so we decided, democratically of course, that my little brother was going head first through the top bathroom window! He got in, found the keys to let us in, then we found the note on the kitchen table explaining why they weren’t there! We were given keys after that!

    1. Oh wow, it is amazing how many people have been through windows or sent someone through one. I think the last time it happened to me I was late teens and we sent someone in an upstairs window! x

  5. I have been locked out a few times but a friend of mine who is a few streets away has a spare set of keys x

  6. I got locked out once. But ONLY once. After that, I made sure we all had keys to everything, and we had them on us at all times.

  7. Haha I have locked myself out of my house before and had to climb in threw a window that just happened to be cracked open. Definitely an experience that’s for sure lol… If my neighbors happened to see me they probably got a good laugh.

  8. I have luckily never been locked out. That said we rent, and have our super on site so I’m sure if we did he’d come to the rescue!

  9. I have never been locked out in my entire life! But this is so helpful, thanks for the share.

  10. I haven’t experienced being locked out. Maybe, if I go home drunk, my wife will locked me out and I will just sleep outside!

  11. This is a great post 🙂 made me chuckle!

I’ve only ever been locked out of my flat at uni but luckily I always managed to eventually get ahold of my flatmates to let me back in. There’s only been one time when I didn’t have my phone on me and I just sat outside feeling sorry for myself for an hour until someone arrived back from a late night trip to the library and saved me! It was a freezing night too 🙁

  12. I’ve never been locked out of my home but I have been locked out of my car and had to call roadside assistance to open my car doors for me. I have electronic touch screen locks on my home so we only need to remember the code, no keys needed. 🙂

  13. My husband and I were walking the dog and when we got back home we realized we don’t have a key. Well, luckily the car wasn’t locked (on road parking, never happened before). So we put the dog in the car, who was excited about what we were doing. My husband took some tools from the car and managed to break in the house. We were talking while we were doing this that it’s great we lived there for a few months and the neighbors didn’t think we were breaking in.

  14. Thanks for sharing your story, I can relate to that one in some way. The only differences are, I was wearing a full dress and I’m the one who locked myself out.

  15. I have been locked out! My car doesn’t use a key but rather a sensor so I’d forget house keys and would get locked out in the garage. Your advice is good!

  16. Yes I have, but thankfully my mom keeps a spare key to my house so I was able to get in once she got to my house with it.

  17. I once locked myself out when my youngest (now 8) was just under 2. My husband had to leave work to race home and let me in.

  18. I have more stories than I’d like to admit. I am the absolute queen of accidental door lockings and lost keys. LOL

  19. I have been locked out several times. It’s always so frustrating while waiting for someone to show up with a key.

  20. When my son was 5 he decided it would be fun to lock me out. I went out to check the mail and when I came back I could here him laughing. It took me abut 30 minutes to talk him into unlocking the door.
