Harringtons Food: Paws up from Dobby and Sock
I never knew Guinea Pigs could be as fussy as these pair, I knew with the old muesli that of course they would pick out the not so healthy tasty bits and leave the more health not so yummy pellets, which is why I opted to feed Dobby and Sock on pellets from the get go, which hopefully meant if I couldn’t get their normal food, something similar would work and while it worked perfectly for a little while, that all changed the day Ash and I went shopping in Asda.
We were strolling down the pet isle – I needed to grab some hay and sawdust, when I saw a bag of Harringtons – I liked the claims and we were coming towards the end of the bag of their food, so to save myself some time I picked up a bag, never could I have guessed what I had started.
Harrington offers one of the smallest pellets I have seen in a guniea pig food, I was a little worried at first that the small size would put the piggy pair off – I couldn’t have been more wrong, while at first it was approached with the normal trepidation reserved for anything ‘new’, they soon dived in with an enthusiasm never seen before.
All was well for a few months, we don’t live near an Asda so we ordered home deliveries which included Harringtons as and when we needed, but for reasons unrelated to this tail we decided to stop shopping there and that is where the fun began.
I keep their food in a tub, getting rid of the wrappings well before the food is gone, which lead to the problem – I couldn’t remember the name of the brand and Dobby and Sock were refusing most of the other foods we put in front of them. I spent time madly going through each brand I could find and ordering a packet in the hopes it would be the right one! But alas it never was.
Until one fateful day when I came across a call on Facebook – reviewers wanted for animal food “ohh they do guinea pig food” I said to myself with a little bell ringing in the back of my mind, so I quickly popped of an email and was excited to hear Dobby and Sock were a-ok to try a bag for themselves.
I thought nothing more till the bag popped through the door a few weeks later and that little bell rang again, I asked Ash if he recognised it but his memory is worse than mine, so I popped it away until their open bag which was getting at least eaten through necessity was gone.
Soon after I opened the bag and imaging my surprise when I saw the nuggets, so tiny and small – could it be I wondered as I poured it into the pigs bowls, with a leap and bound Dobby ran his way over, stuffing his snout into the bowl and squeaking in delight, quickly Sock arrived to see what the fuss was about and quickly joined in, it was then I knew, this was the food we had been looking for.
Pop over to the Harringtons website to read all about the foods they have to offer.
Before I go Sally says I MUST tell you Harringtons support the yellow ribbon campaign – if you don’t know what it is please do click the button in my sidebar to find out more as it really is a simple way to know when a dog needs you to keep some distance for any reason.
Do you have a fussy pet, what do they like to eat?

*I recieved a bag of Harringtons for free – however I did previously (although I forgot the name and had to hunt for it) and still do buy Harringtons

our 2 Border Collies love their Harrington’s Doggie food, we have been buying it for years. Thanks for the info about Yellow Dog, I was unaware of it and think it is a great idea!
My dog wants to eat everything except his own food, my cat constantly wants feeding, my daughter changes her mind all the time about what she does and doesn’t like and my fella doesn’t like so many things I get bored with his food – I know they’re not pets but it doesn’t lead to me being a happy bunny!

Adorable! We sell that brand at our Tesco.

Awww how cute are their names. Love guinea pigs. They remind of a good friend who had one as a child called Squeaker – he was such a character. I must try Harringtons for my two dogs.
Ah they are so cute! We feed our dogs Harringtons food x
I find the smaller nuggets almost “don’t touch the sides” and they eat a lot more? Our guinea pig is a fussy chap – might try this a variation on his usual feed 🙂

I think the yellow dog campaign is brilliant, glad you finally found what you have been looking for!
